If we go in January could we do it in one day? We will mostly be there for the thrill rides, me, brother, sister in law and two nephews 10 and 11. Could we do both in one day if we just concentrated on the thrill rides.

If you are concentrating on just thrill rides yes.If you want to do shows too , than it gets more difficult. In the off season, many shows run on a shortened schedule( park hours are shorter) and very often they run at the same times...Be aware that Jan is slower, but there are TONS of tour groups there in full force

We did most of both in a day, though we concentrated on everything except the thrill rides. My 10 year old LOVES to use the single rider line (she feels grown-up riding "alone"), so if you come to a really long line and everyone is OK with going on the ride without sitting next to a family member, you could try the single rider line. It saved us a ton of time, and we are both OK with riding close to one another rather than just next to each other. We were almost always in the same car and never more than a car or two apart.

Thanks so much for the advice. We may do it this way. I really don't want to go to US/IOA. I am a Disney person. But SIL wants to go so we will see.

was wondering if they typically extend hours the weekend of MLK, including the Thursday/Friday beforehand...does anybody have a guess as to January hours after the NY crowd has departed?

Typically after the holiday the hours are IOA-9a-7p and US- 9am -6pm.During MLK weekend hours are extended to 8pm and 7pm
