Hi,
We have an indirect flight going from Gatwick to Charlotte then onto Orlando has anyone done this and was it ok!!

Never flown via Charlotte but had no problems when I did an indirect flight via Chicago to Pittsburgh and fingers crossed I'll have no probs come May flying via Chicago to Orlando.

Dunno if you've flown indirect before in the States but you'll go throw immigration at Charlotte and you'll need to pick your luggage up and then recheck it in. On the way home you'll be able to check it in all the way to the UK.

Did you book it as part of one ticket? If so you'll have no problems should you miss the Orlando plane. It's if you did things seperate you might have a problem ie you booked it in two transactions.

I must admit I'll only finally relax once I'm on the Chicago -Orlando plane even though I know if we were delayed united would just put us on the next plane.

Hi Thanks for your reasurring reply, yes we have booked part of a one ticket, we had problems booking direct as we are going in Easter school hols most of flights had already gone. Im sure it will be ok but like you wont be able to fully relax until we touch down in Orlando !!

We have done this journey 4 times with US Airways and it is a really easy trip.

Would have no hesitation in doing it again!

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

bells - I know just how you are feeling - we are also going Easter school holidays and we just couldn't find a direct flight....we had to book later than we hoped because I couldn't get my holidays confirmed....and we are going indirect from Leeds/Bradford to Amsterdam and then on to Orlando I will relax once we have got there and checked out the villa, both the flight and villa were left to me to book........sure everything will be fine when we reach WDW though....

about 13 hours I think .... excluding home to airport and airport to villa...
but it will be worth i once we are there

Hi At least you put your clocks back when you arrive so it doesnt seem that bad. Hope you have a fantasic trip! : :cool1:

I have flown in-direct to get to Orlando with my family and with work to Rochester nys, the only problems I have experianced is when the connection time is tight and the flight from the UK has left late, but having said that never missed the connection. As previously stated Charlotte airport is ok never found it too busy. If you are checked through on one ticket and using one airline all you have to do is drop your bags on the connecting flights belt.

Although flying direct is obviously better, my wife who is scared of flying has no problem with an indirect flight as you clear immigration and security and have a chance to have a walk and also a drink in a bar and then you arrive in Orlando classed as a domestic arrival so no double bag handling etc you are already chilled out.
