We leave for Disney in 12 days :cool1: to celebrate my son's 7th b-day. Trip is a complete surprise ( to me for keeping the secret). Problem is my son is on medication which caused him to grow from a sz 5 to currently a sz 12 (we are switching medications when we get back). However, he has NO shorts that anywhere near fit him. I was able to find pull-on nylon shorts at Wal-Mart, but they only have black, blue and green. Anyone know where I can find shorts in a boy sz 12 in a store, not on-line? PS we live in RI.

:cheer2:  -had to add these dd8 is watching me type. Thankfully not a great reader.

What about waiting and buying some at a Walmart when you get there? I've shopped at the Walmarts and they are very reasonable! Just a suggestion.

Try a sporting goods store --- they'll sell basketball shorts year around. They're lightweight and have an elastic waistband.

Ebay or a second hand clothing option may work too.

Maybe you have a friend with a size 12 boy who'll loan you the clothes?

You can buy a cheap pair of jeans and turn them into cutoffs. The weather will likely be in the low 70's, so even jeans and a t-shirt will do. You may not really need shorts.

Well, many stores still have shorts on the sales racks right now. (left over inventory from last year I suspect) However, you'll probably be able to find those pants with the zip-off legs, so they turn into shorts. Many stores carry those year round since they're a high demand item regardless of the time of year. I'd call a few stores in your area first (J.C. Penneys, Sears, Walmart, Target, etc...) and see if they have them in stock. No sense in driving from store to store doing a search. It's much easier to call first and save yourself some time. :sunny:

The sporting goods store for basketball shorts is a GREAT idea too! Most likely you'll find some there. :cheer2:

Hopefully it will warm back up for you to need the shorts. The next few days it is going to be in the low 60's. I may need to turn on the heat!! Try Old Navy too. They have shorts a lot of the year.

We had raincoats delivered to our resort in October (for Hurricane Wilma) from www.landsend.com - it worked out great and they came just when they said they would. However, they should be able to deliver to your home before the 12 day mark without any problem too. I would also look in Kohl's as well. Good luck, and hope your DS has a magical trip (we did the same surprise thing for our twins 8th in Oct and it was a blast). :wizard:

There is apparently a Children's Orchard in Norwood, MA. http://www.childrensorchard.com/store.cfm?StoreNum=36
I don't know that area, but it looks like that's between you and Boston?

You might want to call them and ask if they still have shorts available for his size. Even if they are not on the racks, they may let you into the bins in the back, because these stores hold inventory from season to season. You may even find some zip-offs for him there at a decent price, and fleece, which is invaluable this time of year at theme parks.

I live in RI as well and had a tough time finding shorts for our October trip. Have you tried Dick's Sporting goods or Bob's. You could try Vanity Fair outlet in North Dartmouth MA (about 20 minutes from Prov) they ususally have a great mix of stuff but it can be hit or miss. They also have an outlet clearance store that is in a different section of the building - not in the mail one.

I was in Target in Attleboro and they have gotten in a couple of different kids of shorts. They have the athletic silky kind of ones, some button up ones, and some swim trunks.

I was in our local wal-mart tonight and they already have spring stuff in. We are in NC and it is really cold right now!!

A caution not to buy too many. DS was on steroids this summer and had gained some weight when I went to buy his uniforms for school. A month or two later they were all too big. You can wash a pair out at night and let them dry overnight. WE really have never needed shorts this time of year even though DS often wears them a day or two.

When i went to WDW in December I checked the weather first and it was going to be cold for the most part. I only brought my kids one pair of shorts each. I went to walmart to get an aditonal pair because it was warm a second day and i didnt get a chance to wash out the clothes. I got DS the pants that unzip to shorts and DD a skort.
