In and Out in a Day

Good Morning!

Glynis- I am chuckling right now. After I read your schedule all I could think was that some folks say SAHM's don't work :lmao:a few years ago I ran into a guy who works with Buddy and his wife at the grocery store. I was in my "house" clothes. She was in hers and clearly, our house clothes were from two different closets ;)She had been dieting, which she struggled with and she looked fantastic, so I told her that and when I got home I told Buddy how awesome she looked, right up to her hair, which looked like she had just stepped foot out of the salon. Oh my goodness! He was weird that day and the next day after work he came home loaded for bear. I guess he thought that I was feeling badly that I was not looking like a red hot trophy wife and so he told me all of the things that I had to do all day and that was why I wasn't taking time for me. Well he never did understand that was never where I was going with my compliment, it was really a compliment and just that but the poor guy was trying to tell me he knew that by staying hime I really had more work so I took it :thumbsup2

So I am off to drag out some decorations before I head out this morning. Kady's room is almost done, all cleaned and her new bedding and curtains all ironed and on. I just need to put our her Christmas things and I will do the bathroom next. Pie day is Sunday and I want most of the decorating done by then.

Today is at Marisa's. We are collaborating on a Financial Accounting test along with another student. We also have a comprehensive problem that is due right after we return so we want to get started on that. The professor has no issues with collaboration, thank goodness! I have to work in-between but I can get that done!

Hi everyone.

The Christmas silly season is officially upon me. This weekend has been crazy with end of year concerts and promises of "lets catch up". Looks like a pretty full calendar between now and Chinese New Year.

The end of year concerts were pretty interesting for me. Aside from listening to some very talented kids, I sat in the audience taking fashion notes from the teens present. Is it sad that the teens had more dress sense than me? :lmao:

Good Morning! Today is our countdown to Disney and I am a bit frantic. Almost caught up on schoolwork but I am not there yet.

Pie night was so much fun but I have way more leftovers that we can eat before Thursday. I tried to give it all away but still too much.

PIO_ I get that Christmas busy!

Good morning all!! Remember me?

We have been busy to say the least. Mr A is in his last year of high school. College is getter closer:sad: We finally had time to both sit down and get applications out :faint:. Dropped some serious $$ on those ___things. Hopefully he can get a grant or 50 to pay for said College.

How is this Thanksgiving week already. What happened to July,August, etc. I lost some time :scared1:

Good morning everyone! Sounds like you all have been keeping very busy. Things have been a little crazy around here too. I have been doing a lot of cooking lately which has been nice. I made a really nice roasted pumpkin soup last week which was perfect for the season and more importantly used up two of the pumpkins I have in my kitchen. I still have nine more to cook! :faint: One of the hazards of belonging to a CSA--an abundance of one type of vegetable.

Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving? I don't have to do much as my Mom really likes to cook the Thanksgiving meal. I am contributing a pan of roasted root vegetables, a cauliflower-gruyere gratin, and some harcorts verts with toasted almonds. My Mom makes everything else.

Nancy, when do you leave for Disney? I have been getting a hankering to head down there sometime soon. I haven't been for a few years and we have enough Disney rewards points saved up to cover the hotel and park passes.

Laura and the kids are doing well. Caili is going to be dancing Clara in her ballet school's Nutcracker production this year. I'll take some pictures and put them on facebook. Liam took his high school entrance exam on Saturday! That's just scary!

Nan – I’m so excited for y’all!!!:cool1:

Glynis – I’m exhausted just reading what you had to do this weekend. I hope Alan’s first day went well!!

Janice – I can’t believe it’s time for A to go to college! Is he going to stay home or is he planning on leaving town?

Becky – So glad to hear that Laura and the kids are doing well, I sure miss them and I miss your food pics!!!

I started my Thanksgiving cooking over the weekend. Got the turkey stock ready, made the cranberry sauce and dessert. I'll tackle one more dish each day and all that will be left on Thursday is the turkey!

if we need.

Gretchen- so good to see you here!

Thanks! Good to see you too.

Pie night is coming up and I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row for that. We have pie night on Monday with Alan's family, and then again on Wednesday with my family. So, I've got to come up with pies for each of them. I'm planning on a derby pie for both nights, and then I'll try to shake things up. Alan's family has requested my pecan pie, so that's a for sure on Monday. I'll also do a cherry pie and Nancy's butterscotch pie for that night. On Wednesday, I'll do another derby pie, a sour cream lemon pie, and a new one: pumpkin pecan pie. I've got to try to get my shopping done in the next couple of days because this weekend is FULL!

Glynis, I always enjoy hearing about your family pie nights. I LOVE pie, but I am the only one in my house who does. So I almost never get any, but it is wonderful hearing about yours.

I understand completely. I feel like I am always at least 5 years behind everyone else.

Nan, I hope you find time to catch your breath before you actually leave on the trip. And I just wanted to tell you how amazing I think it is that you have gone back to school. You are something else! I couldn't find the energy at this point in my life.

Janice, I can't believe how much those application fees are! Just crazy. I'm sure as organized as you are, you will fill out all of the nine million forms for the scholarships/grants and something is bound to come through for you. Good luck. Even though I cannot believe it is time for him to go to college.

Nine pumpkins Becky?!? I cannot even imagine what I would do with that many pumpkins.

I can't wait to see Caili's pictures from the ballet and I can't believe that Liam is starting high school next year. All of this group's kids are really growing up.

I started my Thanksgiving cooking over the weekend. Got the turkey stock ready, made the cranberry sauce and dessert. I'll tackle one more dish each day and all that will be left on Thursday is the turkey!

I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering about your Thanksgiving meal. And how impressive it is for me that you are doing all of it yourself. I hope your guys appreciate you. Like Sheryl said on fb, my dream is to one day make it out to eat on Thanksgiving.

We are all doing fine today, tomorrow is the busy day. Amanda's last day of school for the week, the exterminator coming to hopefully get rid of our ant problem, Kenny's appointment with the ENT (which I only had to nag for two months to get him to make) and house cleaning day.

Quick pop in! Things are going well. Two more performances and my job as costumer will be mostly over (still have to dry clean and return the rentals). I'll be glad to have my life back!

Pie night number one is tonight, and I'm looking forward to it. I made the butterscotch pie last night, and it looks so good! The kids scraped the bowl, and said it was delicious! Can't wait to taste the finished product tonight! I've also got the pecan and cherry pies done, still have to make the derby pie.

Alan's class went well. He said that his professor had a lot of good comments to say about his teaching, so he feels quite good about it! He meets with his thesis committee next week, so he's feeling some pressure there. Any good thoughts would be appreciated!

Family starts trickling in tomorrow, so the we are feverishly working on the house. Cross your fingers we get it all done!

Dinner tonight will be meatball subs!

G - Don't be impressed by me. I have done all of the holiday cooking for as long as I can remember. It was always us and Mom & Dad and now it's just the three of us. I could probably scale down without the guys complaining but I enjoy it. We went out to a French Quarter restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner a few years back and while we really enjoyed it the guys really missed the leftovers.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We don't celebrate it in Australia, so there is one less feast for me to worry about.

Enjoy!

My goodness!!!!!!!!!!! I remember how much my sister spent on applications for the girls :faint: A is going to get assistance, he is a good student!

Good morning everyone! My Mom makes everything else.

Caili is Clara?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I love Nutcracker and cannot wait to see pics of lovely Caili, she looks like how I picture Clara.

I understand your Mom. I generally cook the entire meal too. I farm out appetizers and some desserts but the main meal is mine. No cooking this year though, we leave at 6AM on Thanksgiving Day so our meal is the Laou at teh Poly.

You have missed a year in Disney, haven't you? I remember your family all heading down at the beginning of December.

Nan – I’m so excited for y’all!!!:cool1:

I never ever got anything but stock done early and usually did nto get that made until Tuesday or Wednesday. Your boys would eat turkey sandwiches if that was what you wanted to do :rotfl: but I understand the leftover thing. I used to roast a turkey, make gravy and stuffing even if we went to someone else s house. I needed the leftovers too!

Nan, I hope you find time to catch your breath before you actually leave on the trip. And I just wanted to tell you how amazing I think it is that you have gone back to school. You are something else! I couldn't find the energy at this point in my life.

.

I don't have much energy so Buddy's quality of life has gone down hill fast! Last night when I finally got home from Marisa house I heated up a pizza from Aldi's for him and made eggs and toast for me. And that was at 8:30! Tonight is not looking much better ;) He says he is happy but I feel badly that things are all shook up here.

How are the kids doing? I know Princess Hailey is not that little girl I want to remember. And Amanda isn't 9 anymore either! WHen did all of these changes take place???????

Alan is going to do well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pie night is a blast but how do you survive three? I have so much pie in my fridge and I tried to send a lot home with everyone. and that was just one!

A quick in and out today!

Yes Mr A is going away to a college. I think he needs the experience,as much as I will miss him. I will survive:scared1:

Gretchen I wish I was organized. I feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants lately.

Nancy Have a safe and fun trip.

Kathy I love leftover Thanksgiving. Nothing like cold stuffing for breakfast with a side of sweet potatoes.:lovestruc

Laura Congrats to Caili on playing Clara. WOW that is a dream come true. :cloud9:

Glyinis I saw your picture of the pies on FB WOW they looked good

Ok I am sorry if I missed anyone I have to get to my paying job:worship:

Hmm...I tried to multiquote but it didn't work for some reason. Hopefully I will remember what I wanted to say!

Hi Nancy, yes, we have skipped Disney the past few years in favor of taking the kids to the Caribbean. I don't think I can give that vacation up but I would like to work Disney in somehow, maybe in the spring. Maybe.

Kathy, I still take food photos. In fact, here is one of the roasted pumpkin soup I was talking about. It was very good. I don't think I want to make it nine more times though!!

Glynis, I saw your pies on facebook, they looked terrific!

OK, out for now!

The picture on fb looked absolutely yummy! I wish I could get my family to do something like that for Christmas night. We do a big meal together on Christmas Eve before church and we then feel the need to cook another on Christmas Day just because we are all getting together.

I could probably scale down without the guys complaining but I enjoy it. We went out to a French Quarter restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner a few years back and while we really enjoyed it the guys really missed the leftovers.

And the leftover issue is one of the reasons I would love to go out. Kenny, who normally will eat leftovers, will not eat ANY of the Thanksgiving leftovers. He said that they are out for too long to be safe. Now we are not talking about all afternoon, just the time when people arrive and the food is put out, served and eaten. Once we finish, I start the putting away process, but apparently, this is too long. :rolleyes2 So we I send it all home with Kenny's family. But the eating out is just a fantasy, I don't see it happening.

That's funny, I picture Clara looking like Caili too. I'm sure she is going to be great.

I'm so excited for you going to Disney at Thanksgiving. The last trip my Dad made with all of us was the week after Thanksgiving. We left on that Friday and stayed until the following Sunday. All of us in an OKW Grand Villa. He loved it there and kept telling me how nice the place was. I think he most enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the water and watching the ducks. He said that he would never guess there was another soul back there. Anyway, it was magical and a wonderful start to the holidays with all the beautiful Christmas decorations and the Osborne lights.

Don't worry about Buddy's quality of life. I'm sure if it was bothering him, you would know. And if all else fails, I'm sure sandwiches for dinner would please him. ;) The rest will fall into place as you develop a new routine.

The kids are fine. I left Hailey this morning laughing in her tub, happy as a lark. Amanda had a bit of a stomach bug yesterday, but other than that she is doing well. They are 15 and 14 and I cannot believe the time has flown so fast. For all of our kids. I hear about Liam going to high school, A going to college, and I know Kady isn't the little girl who was excited about a princess towel anymore. Now I know what my Mom meant. :guilty:

Patrick is still living with his mother but will be over for Thanksgiving. He won't stay much beyond that because he will suffer withdrawals from his video games otherwise. Amanda says that he only comes out of his room at his mother's to eat and then holes up again with the Xbox. Oh well.

Amanda is loving school this year. She is finally the teacher's pet for one of her teachers (never has been before) and she has blossomed with that woman's show of love to her. School was always ok before, but now she is excited to go.

Hailey is happy and still amazing us. Her funniest new trick is "singing" along to her CDs. It kind of sounds like a hound dog howl, but it is singing to her. And us.

Well, the house is clean and now I just need to start the cooking today after work. Tonight we're keeping dinner simple - grilled steak with roasted potatoes and a salad. I found some really good, ripe tomatoes and I think Kenny may have a little lettuce with those.

If I don't get back, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! And Nan, I hope you all have a great time!

A quick in and out today!

Becky, we must have been posting at the same time. I don't blame you, I wouldn't want to give up the Caribbean either. And the soup looks delicious.

Gretchen - I was thinking of hailey the other day when I had a blues clue song stuck in my head!

Glynis - that's a lot of pie, I hope you still like pie when you are done

Becky- my kiddo is right in the middle of Liam and caili, I can't believe how the time has flown!

Navy- have a great trip

Okay, posting from the iPod is driving me crazy so I'm going to be done for today. I'm sure tommorow.will be crazy for all of us so if I don't get back have a very happy thanksgiving

HI all,

Remember me? Good grief I have never been away for so long except when I go on vacation. And believe me this absent was NOT vacation. We got back on Wednesday from Albuquerque for the funeral. That was tough!! Not fun at all. Long drive and sadness. Something I hope I don't have to do very often.

We left for Kearney Thursday night to watch Miss Lilly as her Momma and Aunt Elizabeth went to a 12 hour Twlight marathon. :confused3 Then took Friday off as Doug had his consulation with the Surgeon for his surgery on his knee. They have decided on December 11 - flat on his back with leg elevated for 7 days. I have taken the week off to make sure he follows the Drs. orders. As soon as the appointment was over we headed to Lincoln for our last home football game - GO BIG RED!!!
We got home late Sunday night and back to work for yesterday and today and then off till next Monday. I could really get used to this.

Matthew will be home tonight. He hasn't been home since Lilly was baptized in June. So it will be great having him home for a few days. He doesn't know it yet be he is going to help me get the outside lights and decorations up on Friday. He will be so thrilled - :rotfl2:

Nan ~ Safe travels my friend. Have a wonderful time in WDW

Gretchen ~ It is so good to see you. Slowly but surely the gang is all back.

Kat ~ I am just like you - I love to cook the dinner. But this year Doug's Sister is having it. I will still bring most of it, but I love having it at my house.

PIO ~ Welcome home!!

Becky ~ thanks for the update on Laura and the kids. I sure miss them.
Your pumpkin soup looked amazing!!

Glynis ~ Hope your last night of the play goes good.
Congratulations to Alan for his teaching. Sounds like he did a good job.
Pie night - YUM......enough said!!

Janice ~ I can't believe that Mr. A is old enough for college. WOW!! You have done a good job lady, and yes you will miss him but take it from me - you will survive. Just call if you need a shoulder. I am always here!!

Love and hugs to all I have missed.

It is suppose to get up in the 60's today. I can't believe this weather. I do know we will at some point pay for it. But for now I will take it.

WFDT ~ Beef stew (in the crockpot) and homemade Sourdough bread (in the bread machine).

Make it a great day!!

Hello all! Been busy, busy here. :headache: Feel like my heads going to explode sometimes.

DM and I are having dinner at our house tomorrow for everyone. Here's the menu.

Turkey
Ham
Mashed potatoes
Stuffing
Brussel sprouts sauted with bacon
Corn
Green bean casserole
Rolls- a variety of Sister Schuberts
Cranberry sauce
Peach and sweet potato pie- Mrs. Smith's :rolleyes1

Leaving work early today and going shopping with my BFF, I am putting together a goody box for my oldest godson so we are going to see what fun, silly stuff we can find to send him. He is getting homesick, school is busy and he is a little stressed.

I just wanted to pop in to wish all of you lovely ladies a joyous and Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday with your family and friends. We are heading out early so I doubt that I will be back on for a bit.

I know I have not posted often but I do need to tell you once again that I am so lucky to have found you. You have become so close to me and I thank God that you are part of my life.
