Oh boy. Well, I booked a week at BWV in a studio a couple months ago for mid January. I booked almost a week - I had to waitlist for one of the days (mid trip). I never thought for a moment that it wouldn't come through. And now here I sit - leaving in 10 days . . . still on the waitlist. Ugh. Every studio and one bedroom at every resort is BOOKED on my waitlist night so I'm feeling pretty sure I'm gonna get left out in the cold. Question for anyone who has been in a similar situation: Any luck in getting what you needed after the waitlist dropped? In other words, since my waitlist is going to drop 7 days before check in - does anyone think I have a chance in Hades getting what I need by compulsively checking availability every day, several times a day before check in date? Kind of a silly question I know but hoping against hope . . .

PS the night in question is January 19. Yep, MLK weekend. And no cash ressies are available either - YIKES!

No cash rooms makes it unlikely. I had a one night waitlist for a BWV studio come though at 28 days but there were cash rooms available (I had an AP discount room as backup). I would start thinking of Plan B, is there a cash room at the Inn?

Edit: There's a cash room at BWI but it's $430 plus tax. That would be the easiest logistics wise. You may want to check the Swan/Dolphin, maybe you can leave your luggage at BWV and just take a small bag over. There is studio at BCV for $366 plus tax.

pixiedust:Wow...I hope you get something for points by checking now every day every studio!

Only because you mentioned 1 bedrooms, I did go on line and right now, there was a 1 bedroom available at SSR for Jan 19...so, keep looking. If you have to borrow points then you'll be out of luck if your waitlist comes through because you will be using fewer points. Also, if you cancelled it, the extra points would be in holding, so I understand reluctance to book.

So, either bite the bullet or wait, but here's hoping you do get something you want for your night!

Wow, Bobbi -- I wouldn't have had much hope after reading the OP's "pickle." You make it seem easy! I hope the OP is as lucky!

Thanks for the responses - I'm going online to start my daily ressie check. That's great news about the 1br at SSR - I'll see if it's still there. I don't mind losing the points - sure beats coming out of pocket 400+. I'm also checking Swan / Dolphin. I hate the junk fees there but I can usually find a decent rate. I'll update this as things change - might help someone else in a situation like this.

Good luck on finding a room. This just makes me know that for me and my family doing waitlists for my whole stay and not just a night here and there is the best route for our family. Yikes, I feel bad for you. :grouphug:

Are you using ******.com? It's free and you can put in parameters and they'll send you an email when rooms fitting it become available. Good luck.

Thanks Docmom - I've never seen that. Will check it out!

I guess I'll keep this thread going to sort of chronicle my waitlist experience going into a Holiday weekend. I've been checking pretty steadily throughout the day and was able to get a standard view studio at AKV Kidani. A 1br was also available at SSR but I chose the fewer point ressie in case I do get my waitlist. So . . . . at least I know I have a place to rest my head. Not crazy about moving but hey, how can I complain about a beautiful resort like AKV! Will still probably keep checking for BWV and BCV b/c it's my fave area.

Also on waitlist but with a back-up reservation. Was hoping to get a GV for 9 days - first two are not available - next 7 are - last one is not.

Now one of the first two night is available - naturally, it's not the bookend night - it's the Thursday.

Still mighty tempted to take it and hold out hope for the Friday.

Sometimes I wish they would go back to the higher point weekends for those of us flying in and staying a bit.

Glad you have AK for now. It will all work out. I hope it comes through so you don't have to move.

So glad I booked my entire stay at SSR a few months ago. We are going next week. When I was booking - OKW was available except for one night in the middle. I did not want to take a chance that it would not come through so I am glad I went with SSR. (Our third stay here and we like it fine also).

I did this because I remember last January we were also at SSR and a friend of mine could not get one night anywhere on property (studio) and the whole time we were there, we kept hearing the same thing from other guests and at the front desk. We thought we might need an extra night at the end also and nothing was available. My dd checked in for the CP program and we were not sure if we needed to stay any longer.

Marathon, holiday weekend. I remember thinking how busy the parks were = our first time going in January.

Hoping the weather warms up for both of us :)

Enjoy!

I was able to move to my waitlisted resort last year - it took calling several times per day! Hoping Pixie Dust heads your way

One of my waitlists came through for a GV on the 7th of February. :goodvibes

Now crossing fingers that the first two days will also work out but getting nervous as the 30 day window has passed.

Good luck! I bet it will work out. So far, I still have AKV for the mid trip night but checking often for BW and BC. Just saw that Disney made ****** shut down. That's a bummer. It was a neat tool.

Keep checking and good luck to you! I know it is hard to get a room at BWV but they do come sometimes. I own there and often change my plan and need to add or delete nights, so have been down to the wire looking for a night on occasion.

The waitlist just worked for me! I was able to add a club level studio at AKV to my already existing trip - adding another night. I did not expect to get the night and they didn't even email me to say I got it. I just looked at the reservations and there it was! I can't say how happy I am and this one was more a needle in a haystack then trying to get BWV, so keep the hope going.

Your waitlist should drop at 7 days out. After that you will need to check yourself several times a day. I would also call MS daily although the hold times have been ridiculus lately. I have had luck within 7 days before but that was before online booking.

Just an update on our ressie situation. Still can't find a BWV studio for the night in question. I did manage to switch from Animal Kindgom to Wilderness Lodge (which fits our needs more). Still have hope . . . we shall see!

Another update! I'm keeping this thread alive in case someone does a search for something like this - my odyssey has been interesting (at least to me ha!). So, this AM I did my perfunctory search and lo and behold a Beach Club 1br is available for both Saturday and Sunday nights. I cancelled my BWV studio for the first night and the WLV studio for the second night and grabbed both nights at BCV. Now we are only moving once. I would have preferred to snag the BWV studio for the second night and call it a day BUT two things: one - BWV looks completely locked up and I really didn't want to move twice and two - this is kind of strange but somehow my reservation (for that first BWV night only) shifted from a preferred view studio to a handicap accessible preferred view studio. I didn't make the change and I know I didn't book it. I'm thinking that even if I got a BWV studio for the second night that I would STILL have to move rooms because the other nights were NOT in a HA room. In any case, it's worked out pretty well so far as I definitely prefer BCV and BWV over all others. Maybe it will give someone hope if they find themselves in a tricky ressie situation last minute.
