In A Panic About The Weather

We're off (like many of you on here) on 4th January and I thought I was all prepared. I've got the older kids ski jackets, waterproof trousers, thermal baselayers etc, same for us and I've got the youngest (15 months) a full ski suit. I thought that would do us, but I've been without a car for a few weeks now and when I walked up to get the kids from school on Friday, I was caught in torrential rain. My buggy (with the raincover on) was soaked through and the rain was so heavy I might as well have gone out without a jacket on (I was wearing the specially bought ski jacket).

It's got me in a bit of a panic that the weather's going to spoil our trip. The cold I can handle as we can just layer more clothes on etc, but what are the chances of there being heavy rain at this time of year? Snow obviously wouldn't be so bad, as it's not as wet, but I'm really worried we're going to get caught out with heavy rain. Anyone got any tips for really wet weather? And for anyone that's there now or just back, has the weather been similar to ours? Both wet-wise and temperature-wise?

Most of dlrp is indoors or covered. As long as you can keep yourselves warm you'll be able to keep dry in queues, rides, restaurants shops etc. :)

Thanks Torsie. I had thought that, but as we'll have the little one it's unlikely that all of us will be able to take shelter in queues and on rides at the same time and I found most of the shops a nightmare to move in with a buggy when we were there in June. I guess there's always the arcades and restaurants. If the worst comes to the worst, we can just take the wee one out and abandon the buggy outside with the rain cover down as we take cover in a shop :rotfl:. And if all else fails, it's not that far back to the SL to get changed and warmed up. I'm just a natural worrier but I'd rather be prepared :rotfl:

It rained quite a bit when we went last Jan. We bought a large umbrella and a couple of ponchos. The arcades are very good as they are fairly spacious and even have tables, like you we go on the 4th and I will be praying for it not to rain. If all else fails you could always take shelter in the DLH. :rotfl:

:lmao: What a great idea!!! I've been telling the oh that I'm going to visit the DLH when we're there this time. I hadn't realised that you could do that the last time :sad1:

That's what I'm going to do :thumbsup2 If it rains, you'll find me at the bar in the Fantasia Cafe in DLH :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi, I just got back on Saturday and it was raining at the most 2 times a day. One day it was heavy and I just put my plastic poncho on and the rest of the time was very light showers. We managed ok with the raincover on the buggy. I wore tights leggings and jeans with socks and a vest, top and jumper, with my fleece coat. I was just right.
Have a fantastic time. Wish I was going again !!!!!

Thanks a lot :thumbsup2 that's great to know. Showers I can handle, so glad to hear there's not too many heavy downpours. Can't wait, I'm sure we will have a great time thanks.

See thats how we decided to stay there in the end (and I have since decided it is only where I will stay!) I figured we go in there every day, drink at the Fantasia Bar each day (sometimes in the evening, sometimes for a mid day coffee), eat at Inventions and the California Grill each trip so we might as well just stay there anyway!!

I wanted to book the DLH originally for this trip but my oh said it looks tacky . That's why I'm determined I'm going in there this time and I'll be taking him with me ;) that way hopefully he'll realise it's not tacky at all and that we can stay there next time :thumbsup2

I'm worried about the weather too. That's why I insisted we stay at DLH. Then, if it's too cold or wet we can pop back to the hotel. Also DD2 will be able to have a nap in the room in the afternoon. I have also got ski jacket & bottoms for DD1 & a full ski suit for DD2, but nothing for me or DH yet - don't know whether to bother or not. We go on the 10th January for 3 nights (to celebrate my 40th on the 11th).

We arrive on the 4th and the 5th will be our first day. Josh will be resplendent in his Ski Suit and we will be thermalled and water proofed but hoping we won't need to be.

Hoping that DLRP does heating better than they do Air Con.

steve
