If someone tells you "I am in a funk today" I am not sociable... what does this mean to you?

Silly, but my friend and I were discussing this. Her new BF told her this. I think it means he is down, having the blues, he'll talk to her another time????

She says he is british, and it means more??????????????

If someone says they are in a funk, I take that to mean they aren't necessarily in a bad mood, but just kind of "out of sorts".

I wonder what it means to someone who is British?

I say it when my head is in a weird place, like JessicaR said, disengaged which means I'm warning the person they are likely to get a disproportionate response if I get pressed... So back up

To me it means that I am not feeling myself and that I need time to get my head on straight. So, just leave me alone and I'll get in touch when I am feeling a bit better. I just need some time.
