In a bind, need suggestions

What is the best way to get from Sanford International Airport to the Radisson Hotel on International Drive? I have research taxi fare and that looks to be around 116.00, and if we were to use public transportation, from what I can see, we would still end up walking close to 12 miles at close to ten at night.

We don't have our rental until the 21st; and we fly in on the 19th. For some reason, I thought we were flying into Orlando International and didn't notice that Allegiant actually flies into Sanford.

If we were to rent a car for one day, it would still run us 64.00, and we literally would return it early in the am...which adds another problem. Parks open only an hour later than the earliest a car can be returned. There is no way we could make it back to the park for the opening.

I am sick over this. 116.00 (and even 64.00 for a one day rental) will seriously be a huge hit in my spending money I had put aside. Please tell me there is another way.

did you check with the hotle if they offer a free shuttle from the airport. if you could due alamo then you could return it to the one in disney and have them drop you off at the contempory and walk over. it might not get you to the park by opening but it might get you there closer to the start.

No, I didn't check with my hotel. I just assumed since it was 32 miles out they wouldn't pick us up. I will definitely call and double check!

i checked on their site dosent say anything but mybe they work with a company that can give a discount so it might be worth calling. i checked mear they dont send their vans to sanford or it be 29 for a shuttle van but one way from mco. they say on their site a taxi will be around 78 but not including tip and if the driver decides to take a long way to raise the price. here their site you probelry looked already but just incase. www.mearstransportation.com

How in the world did we miss this? Why is it that the best laid plans seem to have the biggest (and most obvious) flaws???

I just went to mears and for some reason I can't select any starting airport but Orlando International. It's almost midnight here but I will try to call them in the morning.

Hopefully it will work out.

sorry those hotels should bend over back wards why not offer or at least have a company that will give their guest a discount. just click on their service buton on top and click taxi and there will be a place to put in sanford i dont think they run there shutle vans out of sanford due to mco being their more popular airport due to dme.

try going on the sanford airport site they have info on ground transapation. go to this site it one they listed they say for international drive it be around 28 per person. http://www.orlandocarriers.com/rates_sanford.php

I doubt you are going to find an inexpensive way to get to your hotel from Sanford Intl. This is one of the reasons people tend to avoid flying in there. You do have to be careful when booking flights into Orlando....it can be deceiving as to which airport you are arriving at. And with Sanford, there isn't a cheap way to the hotels.
I hate renting cars, but I got such an incredible rate flying into Sanford that we will be renting one for our stay next April.
A rental car is probably going to be your best option. Most car services will charge you about $100+ one way from Sanford to hotels/resorts.
When you say you don't get your rental until the 21st...I'm assuming you mean rental car??? If so, just add a few days to that rental..if possible.
