Impossible? SDD at park close and SW Fireworks after? Easter weekend?

Long story short - we'll be in HS over Easter Weekend. I want to see the Star Wars fireworks - never seen them, love fireworks and projection shows and they are going away. My kids want to ride SDD and we don't have a FP for it. My husband could care less and is willing to do whatever I tell him.

I will be staking out a spot for the fireworks. If my husband and kids get in line for SDD at park close - 8:30 pm, is there any chance, they could ride, finish and make it through the masses to join me in time for the Star Wars fireworks at 9 pm?

I'm thinking no and that's fine. But just wondering if others may have attempted this at a less busy time or if it might be possible.

I am going with a firm no. 30 minutes total time, plus time to get through a crowd and to you, is unheard of at any time of the year.

Even at a less busy time of the year, that will be a very hard feat to accomplish. The chances of SDD being less than a 30 minute wait, despite what is posted, is highly unlikely. And to then make it back down for Star Wars, I just don't see it happening. Sorry.

Ok second question - do you think they will be off SDD by the time the Star Wars fireworks end? I’m thinking around 9:20?

Hard to say for sure. Line length varies greatly, but I have not seen anything under 45 minutes during any time of the day, any day of the year. I haven't stalked it like crazy, though. Easter week is expected to be busy, as it is blocked out for gold pass holders, so I would not expect the line to be any shorter than normal. You could always peruse the shops while you wait for them to finish, though.

I did this back in December. I got in line for SDD at about 10 minutes until park closing. By the time I got on SDD, the fireworks just started (which was a cool view because it is like you are in the middle of them at times). I was walking by the front of the Chinese Theater with less than 5 minutes left in the show (I can't remember the exact time).

Considering you are going around Easter, I am going to say no. I would either rope drop the attraction or possibly wait for it in the middle of your day depending if you get everything else done that you wanted to see.

There's is almost no chance of this happening. This is one of those either/ or situations. Your family will have to choose their priority and go with that.

FWIW, we were at DHS a week and a half ago on a very busy Spring Break day. DH got in line for SDD with the kids at about 8:10 (closing was 8:30). Wait was posted at 90 minutes. We asked to do rider switch. CM said sure. She estimated actual wait to be 60 minutes. They actually waited 37 minutes. We did rider switch and were walking out of Toy Story Land as the Star Wars fireworks were beginning (made me jump with how loud the first one was right next to us!). Had we not done rider switch, we would have definitely made it in time for fireworks. It’s not something that’s guaranteed, but it is possible.

I did this in September which had lower crowd times. Got in line at exactly 8:30 and made it just in time for fireworks. The line moved faster than the posted time had said.
