Important Information About Linking Reservations

I've been getting a few requests for linking reservations. We can link your reservations for room location and dining however I do have some precautions.

Most of you have assigned rooms so this isn't a huge deal but in general when you link for room location Disney will always try to put you close to each other, even if it means that you wouldn't get a complementary upgrade that they may have given (confused?).

For dining the table size they gave us last year for all of you were tables of 4, 6 and 8. There are tables for 10 and one table for 12 (yes, there are exceptions when they add a chair to one of these, but keep in mind that everyone will be much closer and you will have less table space). If fast service is important to you, you do not want a table larger than 6. A table of 12 is very slow (I have been at that table before) because the server cannot put everyone's food on one tray and has to go back a second time to the kitchen. He won't serve you until he has it all there.

In all cases, if you link reservations before the final payment date, only one person from all linked reservations will be able to get into their reservation at a time. This is particularly important when it comes to booking excursions, Palo, spa, etc.

If you want to have Palo together, you must be linked together. If you each want to schedule excursions, spa, etc. but don't care about dining together at Palo, you should not link together until after the date you make the online bookings.

For example, if another cruiser and I are linked together and can make online bookings at the same date, only one of us can get into either reservation at a time to make the Palo, excursion and spa reservations. Until I get out, they cannot get in. This is fine if you coordinate things, but would be frustrating if you don't.

Let me know if you have questions.

If two cabins are linked, one being a Castaway Club member and the other being on their first cruise, how many days out could excursions, spa sessions and Palo be booked (assuming that both cabins are paid in full)?

Assuming both are paid in full, you can book Palo at the furthest out date between the reservations. You cannot book excursions or spa reservations at this date however. You can only book these at the time you normally would be able to (I'd give date examples, but there are too many date possibilities).

In any case, if you are booking Palo, it can be done at the earliest date possible between all the rooms linked.

Tracey,

So if DH and I want to dine at Palos, we could only make a reservation for two unless we were linked with other rooms? While on the ship can you make Palo reservations for groups larger then your reservation count?

DH, a non Dis person, just came into my office , looked at my screen and asked' "who is WINOTracy?" Me: "She is out travel agent for the Dis Cruise" He "Really? I guess that explaines a lot" and he walked away.

I wonder what he ment!

I'm surprised he didn't say winotracy ;) (no E). If you are not linked with anyone and have two adults in your room, you can only make a reservation for two adults. If you are linked with others, you can make a reservation for two or more up to the total number of adults. Keep in mind that you can only make one reservation per person so if you have four adults linked and you make a reservation for four, the other two adults cannot make a reservation at all (as they will be listed on your confirmation). Once onboard you can make reservations for more than just your number of adults, but again, they will need the names and room numbers.

If you want to make reservations for Palo with someone, but not dine every night with them, I do recommend you link reservations to make the Palo reservation as it is easier to do this ahead of time than to wait and do it on the ship. You can also both make reservations for the same time (if not linked) and then link up the tables once onboard.

Finally, if you have more than 6 people, you will not be able to get a table larger than six online. This will have to be done onboard. Again, I recommend getting the appropriate number of seats and then linking the reservations onboard. It is easier to change a reservation once onboard than to make a new one.

My roommate, TracEy, is in a group doing Palo together. I am not part of that group. :sad1:

I want to dine at Palo (brunch?) with someone, but don't know who yet. Can the room TracEy and I link two different ways to get Palo reservations?

I was going to say, it would suck if the only way I could dine at Palo would be a table for 1. I would definitely need to "hitchhike" with anyone who wants dinner there the same night I do.

Don't think about Tracey's situation, it's completely different. Tracey and the group she is in will need to make reservations just like the rest of you so if you and Tracey are not dining together for Palo, you will need to each make a separate reservation (to be honest, I don't really know how that will work as the default is a table for two).

You would only be able to make a reservation for one, however, the tables there seat a minimum of two so you could add a person when you get onboard (or let me know if it is before that).

Are you telling me we should de-link dining for now? :goodvibes

Thanks Trac_no E_y :yay:

No, I'm not saying that. I'm just letting you know what could be issues if you are linked. If you want to dine together at Palo, you should stay linked. If you don't want to dine together and all want to make other reservations the second reservations open up for you, you should unlink. Without knowing what everyone wants to do (and believe me, I don't want to know), I can't tell you to link or unlink. :goodvibes

Lori - let's coordinate something - it would be fun.

Thanks Tracy. Everyone believes we can manage and stay linked. Thanks. :thumbsup2

I am still confused about this linking business, but maybe I should let you sort it out if you understand it better.

Lori and Ros, we could link our reservations if you like and we could make our reservation for Palo. I am a Castaway Club member and we could go for Palo at the 90 day mark.

Can I be included in the Palo reservation with Lori, Kim and Ros, please.

But I am linked with other people for regular dining. How does this work?

I think we are just going to race up to Palo as soon as we (or the first one of us) gets on board to get a big table for us.

Hey, what ever works!
Does it work that way? Or is Palo all booked by people who know they have to book it early?

I was hoping to avoid that by being a Castaway Club member, since I have no idea when we'll get to the ship. Do you think there's a risk we'd get shut out for the night I've been pretty picky about wanting? At least I think I have a fairly decent reason for wanting a specific night. ;)
