Please keep in mind that it is against DIS posting guidelines to post postcard codes or any other code that is NOT a public code for anyone.

Such posts will be deleted immediately. Posting of these codes could possibly result in Disney no longer offering these, in which case we all lose out.

Public codes that anyone can use without a required PIN, including AP, FL resident, promotional public rates, or even Military rates can be listed.

Please keep this in mind when posting about discounts.

If I am told by 3 CMs that it is a public code AND I've seen it in my newspaper, AND others have also used it then what makes it NOT a public code? The CMs that actually work at CRO should know if it is public code or they would not have said it.

Does this have anything to do with the very long AP rate thread I was in the middle of reading just disappearing? I can't seem to find it anywhere in this forum now.

Seems that way Johnny. Now if the DIS could be as quick to delete pool hopping, mug reusing, and sneaking over age kids into the park for free threads they would playing fair. :o)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be controversial, I just couldn't figure any other reason that I kept getting this weird message over and over when I tried to click to the next page of that thread, and I had seen something about this code deal before I couldn't access the thread any more. Then when I went back to the resorts page, the whole thread was just gone! Very weird.

Edited to add, it seems it was deleted because when I do a search of all my posts (all 12 of them! ) that thread doesn't even show up. Oh well, so much for reading the last few pages of that thread. :(

I was thinking about that code this morning and thought a few people said it was in the newspaper! I went to look for the thread to read it over again and couldn't find it!! I was one person that was told by CRO that I did not need a pin number to use that discount code. Very confusing.

I was told (by 3 different CMs) that the code was a "direct-mail offer" and a PIN number was required to be eligible for the code.

I do hope an explanation was given to the OP who started the thread concerning the new code in question based on false info given to her from a DISNEY CM. :(

It seems there was a great deal of confusion about whether or not this code was public or a direct mailer due to the conversation the OP had with this CM from the reservations line. I even called on it myself after reading that several were able to actually make reservations WITHOUT the PIN and these same folks were even told multiple times that it was indeed a public code. Personally, I was satisfied that it was indeed a direct mailer after my 2nd attempt to get a discount, and my posts in the "offending threads" read as such.

I do not recall whether or not I actually typed the code letters into my own post on the AP thread originally started by llebrekniT, although I may have quoted someone who did. However, I do know that I am "guilty" of typing the actual letters with my own two hand on the original thread that was started about this particular code (don't remember the OP--sorry). I apologize for going against posting guidelines, but it was totally innocent on more than just my own behalf, if you ask me.

 ALL of this confusion is thanks to a DISNEY CM who offered this false information to one of our very own DIS members who innocently shared!!! Now any of us who happened to have been involved in the detective work are left feeling guilty for breakin' da rules.:( Oh well, life's not always fair, but at least it's within our own constitutional rights to GRIPE about it. ;)

Dznydreams, you say that a Disney CM gave false info about a code. What false info was that? Was it that it needed a pin or that it was a public code? I had 3 different CMs tell me it didn't need a pin and that is WAS a public code. I SAW this code in my newpaper. I booked with this code. My neighbor booked using this code and was also told you did not need a pin. There were many on this board that booked and was told you did not need a pin. It sounds to me that the only bad CMs were the ones telling folks you needed a pin when you didn't. I again called today and was told I do not need a pin when using this code. Sounds like some on the other thread got it pulled because they got CMs that gave them bad info and they could not take advantage of the code. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

skiwee 1- Would you mind if I asked you which newspaper you saw that code in? Just curious

I'm curious too - especially after the conversation I just had with another CM.

This is exactly what I asked the CM - “I am calling to get information about discount code *** (intentionally omitted). Is this code available to the general public or are there other eligibility requirements?"

She looked up the code and said a PIN was required and asked me if I’d gotten a mailer. I told her that I didn’t but I had heard the code was in a newspaper and people were able to book the code without a PIN. She said that sounded strange because the PIN requirement is connected to a mailer, not newspaper ads.

She wanted to make sure she was giving me the correct information so she put me on hold and talked to a supervisor in Guest Services. When she came back she said the code was in a direct mailer and did not appear in the newspaper(s) and a PIN is required. She also said the mailer must be shown at check-in.

That’s 4 different CMs that have given me the same answer – a PIN is required.

But the whole thing about the code not appearing in a newspaper is truly confusing since skiwee1 said she saw the code in her newspaper and both she and a neighbor were able to use it.

Thank you SueEllen,

I would hate to lose Ap discounts because of a code being posted that shouldn't have been.

This was posted as a general guidelines reminder and was not pointed at any individual poster or posters.

The code that was posted (and removed) was indeed a direct mail offer and not a public code. If anyone saw it in a newspaper then I'm quite surprised that it was published there as it is ONLY a postcard direct mail offer and not a newspaper or general advertising offer.

Yes, there are cast members that can make errors (like booking the code without asking for the PIN number) However those are ERRORS.

I just wanted to remind everyone about the DIS board guidelines regarding the posting of codes. If you are ever in doubt about the posting guidelines they can be found on the main disboards page.

the code that was in the newspaper was AZR for the August specials not the one that requires a pin

They are pretty close maybe that is why there was a confusion

I received an email offer and when I called to inquire about the code (and I didn't mention that I received it in an email) I was automatically asked for the pin number

I can see why there'd be all this confusion if we were all actually discussing 2 totally different codes. :headache:

My memory may be wrong but I thought some people were posting that they got code discounts for September/October-which I believe is what the direct-mailer offered.

Anyway, guess all of us post-August people will just need to hang in there and see what happens with codes in the upcoming weeks. Ah, the Disney code waiting game. :faint:

At least this explains why I couldn't find this thread! I looked and looked for it this afternoon before I decided that I needed to schedule an eye dr appointment. At least I now know that I'm not going crazy...ok, I am crazy, but that's a different thread!
