It’s time for the reservations requirement to be lifted for resort guests. Staying OP has very few perks now and with ME ending and no more EMH at night, resort guest should be able to visit any park any day. It would still allow some control over the number of people in each park if entry was limited to resort guests.

Does anyone know offhand how long your park tickets are valid for?

We are booking our DVC in a few weeks for May 2022 and will likely buy park tickets now ( because the Canadian dollar is doing so well) and will probably make our park reservations shortly after we get the tickets (the thought of not having parks reservations gives me heart palpitations).

It's more the quarantine on our return to Canada that is a concern for us, in addition to the border closure. I would think park tickets are valid for a couple of years after purchase?

The valid window for tickets depends on 1) the start date and 2) the length of ticket. After the expiration date, tickets continue to hold value to be used towards an upgrade/future tickets. This is from the Ticket Sticky pinned near the top of this forum:

Ticket Duration Valid Use Period
1-Day Ticket valid one day on the date selected (Next day can be used for “+ Option” with a PH+ ticket)
2-Day Ticket Any 2 days within 4 days beginning on start date (5 days with PH+)
3-Day Ticket Any 3 days within 5 days beginning on the start date (6 days with PH+)
4-Day Ticket Any 4 days within 7 days beginning on thestart date (8 days with PH+)
5-Day Ticket Any 5 days within 8 days beginning on the start date (9 days with PH+)
6-Day Ticket Any 6 days within 9 days beginning on the start date (10 days with PH+)
7-Day Ticket Any 7 days within 10 days beginning on the start date (11 days with PH+)
8-Day Ticket Any 8 days within 12 days beginning on the start date (13 days with PH+)

For anyone hoping park reservations will go away soon... Disney has already gone on record saying the theme park reservation system is here to stay. So I wouldn't get your hopes up. I do think as capacity increases park reservations won't be such a challenge to secure except maybe during the most busiest times of year.

I have a one day complimentary pass that I will use to reserve, but won’t purchase tickets for my family of five far in advance. It was bad enough when you needed ticket media at sixty days out.

Not to mention it also means if some sort of sale comes up in the meantime, you're out of luck and won't get the discounted price. I've often waited until closer to my dates to wait for potential deals.

Exactly. I generally prefer to hold on to my money as long as possible. If park passes stick around, I will probably spend much less time in the parks. We are a family of five who spends roughly 45 d per year in the parks.

Park reservations are in place for all at least until Dec 31, 2022.

I’d imagine that would be an easy thing for them to drop if they wanted to though. It‘s not going to affect anyone if it’s suddenly discontinued.

They could but I created this thread so that people were aware that booking Park Reservations early is important. I want this thread to show what IS happening right now as there are a bunch of threads out there with 'Disney could.....' information in them. There's lots of chatter in the Community sub-forum.

I want this thread to help people know what they should be doing right now to avoid disappointment later as many, many people are missing out on going to the parks because they are not aware of the importance of booking a park reservation.

In the end it's a limited resource in high demand, and it's only going to get worse.... as time goes on, might find park hopping in the afternoon requires a park pass.

But the problem is the folks who have no clue what a Park Reservation is.... some don't buy tickets before going, some don't book rooms on site, some never pay attention to banners and pop ups that warn about new requirements. But they also aren't visiting Disney fan sites...

One thing to keep in mind is that your ticket might expire - but the value you paid for the ticket does not go away as long as the ticket is not partially used. If you buy a ticket for certain dates, and then end up not traveling for another year, five years, whatever, the amount you actually paid for those tickets can be applied toward the purchase of a new ticket.

For example, if you buy an 8 day ticket that is set to start on June 1 for $600 and never use it at all, that ticket expires on June 13 and cannot be used for park entry after that date. However, because you never used it at all, you could book a trip in September 2021, June 2023, March 2025, etc. and that $600 you paid previously can be credited toward the cost of a new ticket.

However, if you buy that 8 day ticket and go to the parks even 1 day, then the ticket expires on June 13, and you cannot apply the remaining 7 days worth toward a new ticket. Once used, at all, a ticket and its value expires at the end of the stated time period.
