One reason we may not be seeing this on the Wonder is the short length of the cruises. If the incubation period is 24-48 (72?) hours, most people will be off the ship before they feel sick.

The HAL cruise ship that was having problems runs 10 day trips. That gives everyone a greater chance of contracting the disease and suffering its effects while on board.

I hope everyone who was supposed to be on the 11/30 has a happy Thanksgiving, and rebooks a fantastic discounted cruise!

I was just wondering if anyone knew if 104 was the top figure of how many got sick? Or if they new how or where the ship was going to be sanatized. When I talked with Disney the girl thought they might "tent" it. Now I for one can not figure out how that could be done.

Ann, the count per cnn was 123 as of yesterday. As for the "tenting", we do that type of thing at work, but it would probably involve mooring the ship out of water...??? Anyone know where and how they plan on doing this?

I want to tell you all how sorry I am about your plans. But on a positive note, you have this Board. We are here to offer our sympathy, suggest alternitives, and listen to your venting. There are a lot of Cruisers who don't know about these boards. They must be feeling disappointed, but have nowhere to turn for support and advise.

Shirley (from the perfect gift) said she heard that the Magic would be docked just a bit further down the canal than normal, somewhere between Grill's restaurant and the terminal. As far as tenting, I do not know. I was more worred about where they are going to put the crew for a week as I heard they were coming off to try and break the cycle.

Is the 123 reported sick....really people sick with Norwalk, or just people that have reported any kind of symptoms at all. Didn't the CDC want anyone who had any kind of symptom at all to report in. Maybe I am wishful thinking, but I am hoping not all 123 really have the virus...maybe some just have seasickness, regular flu or upset stomach from over indulgence???? LOL. As I said...I am wishful thinking that the virus has not taken over completely.

Anyway, I hope things get resolved this week..

They had the number at 123. I have not seen any information on the DCL website regarding the latest; they did have a link during the 11/16 cruise.

MMOUSE37, I spoke with the CDC earlier this week and they confirmed that the numbers reported are ONLY those with Norwalk symptoms, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. You can call the CDC with any questions and they are very helpful and friendly, the woman I talked to also had a great sense of humor which really helps. She said they were getting tons of calls from people who are positive that this is coming from terrorists. HEHEHEHE as if the terrorists couldn't come up with anything worse than vomiting and diarrhea, honestly......

The only problem with that is that any of the symptoms associated with Norwalk can also be experienced by people on a cruise due to changes in eating habits, excessive alcohol, seasickness, etc. . . but to a lesser degree. I'm sure that most of the sick guests probably do have the virus, but would imagine that a good number of them don't as well, since they wanted anyone with <I>any</I> symptoms to report it. So I would be a bit skeptical of the exact numbers reported.

cindyluwho......thanks for the update. I personally do not think it is terrorists at work, but as soon as the first outbreak was heard on the HAL ship, my mother immediately told me she thought it was the terrorists...then, when the Magic fell ill, she believes it even more. I also tried to tell her that I felt terrorists would try something a bit more aggressive than giving people the runs!!!!

And thanks for your thoughtfulness, 9/11 has not escaped any of us, I would just prefer to not be focused on it, or to spend my trip worried if the norwalk virus was a test to see if they could spread something worse. That is why I was upset with your post. Thank you for deleting it. I am sure all of us 12/7's will be fine!
