Impact of Star Wars Expansion

My understanding is a new Star Wars area is being added to both Disney World and Disneyland.

1. When is this expected to be ready at Disneyland?
2. While it's being built, are there certain rides that are closed?

We're hopefully coming next August so I don't believe there will be anything ready yet but am hoping certain rides near the construction area not shut down.

When is this expected to be ready at Disneyland?

They have not announced any projected date of completion. I've read guesses that are in the 3 to 5 year range (based on past projects).

While it's being built, are there certain rides that are closed?

Right now Tom Sawyers Island, the Rivers of America (Mark Twain, Columbia, Canoes), the train, and the Big Thunder Trail (path that connects Frontierland and Fantasyland) are all closed. Fantasmic is also dark. These are expected to re-open next year (first half). Beyond that they have not announced what other attractions (if any) are likely to be impacted by Star Wars Land construction.

Thanks figment_jii. Doesn't sound like a huge impact at the moment. Hopefully nothing big will be shut down next summer due to construction.

They demolished the petting zoo and cut Tom Sawyers Island to make way for it.
