Impact of SSR sellout

I called today and did another add-on! Yeah!

But in talking to my guide, we were talking about SSR selling out by summer. I realized that the next time I go to add-on at SSR, I will no longer get the incentives for buying SSR. After this summer, it will be full price just like the other sold out resorts. This is a big bummer for us, since I want to add more to SSR over time.

The one good thing, our use year has the second most points left to sell.

Hey guys leave some points for the rest of us :goodvibes

Just let me know how much you want us to leave in the bank for you, the rest is ours!

When are you going in Nov? We are going to be there Oct 31st thru Nov 4th.

The only thing I worry about with the sellout is an increase in dues. The dues during sales always seem pretty low, but they have a pesky way of going up once the inventory is gone.
::yes:: A lot of folks don't realize the extent to which our dues are subsidized by DVD until the resort is all OURS!

If you go the resale route and find the same UY can they add it to your master contract?

I know if it is a different UY you can not.

Yes, they do become a part of your master contract if they have the same use year; xxx.1, xxx.2, etc.

You know, I never saw/heard of the "smaller contracts." :confused3 I never knew that was an option. We purchased DVC 3 years ago so maybe we're still considered new to this, or just severely lacking in DVC knowledge. :upsidedow

But the bad side of the smaller contracts is you have to pay full price.

So what are the advantages of larger contracts? And how large are we talking?

Depends on the incentive. For new purchasers the minimum contract is 160. For the recent incentive, to get the discount and developer points you needed to buy 110 points.

The advantage is really just the discounts and incentives Disney gives you. As long as your contracts all share the same Use Year (as required in direct purchasing), they are all counted the same. Since smaller contracts tend to sell faster and at a higher premium via resale, you'll often see the more experienced owners breaking up their add-ons in smaller contracts. So say you added on 200 points. You could do it in 4 smaller 50 point contracts and still get the current incentives since you're buying 200 points at the same time.

Note, I didn't realize that either until after I purchased. We own a 200 point contract and a 120 point add-on. If I'd do it again, I'd break them into smaller 25-50 pointers. (Not that I expect to sell points any time soon. I'm more interested in buying. 400-450 points seems like a good number to me. If only we didn't have to worry about bills at the moment.)

We are going to miss you by a day. Arriving on the 5th. Would have been fun to meet up with you 2 again. Come on down in 10-12 days we are gathering at AKL on the 3rd around 3:30.

Hmmmm. We'll have to check into that when we're down there in May. Thanks for the tips.:flower3:

Must be nice to have that problem. Our home resort is BCV and it sold out so fast, I always had the high dues!!:rotfl:
