Immigration question

Me and my boyfriend have been 3 times together, and every single time we have gone through together. Each time we have been asked what the relationship is, and they were fine with that and processed us both at the same time.

If it's just a friendship though, they might ask for you to go through separately.

Quite strange really, in this day and age where it is so common for partners not to share a surname and also for spouses to retain their unmarried name, that they seem to use this principle to determine whether or not you go through together. I wonder if it is to do with how you answer the question as to what the relationship is between you  Do they always ask, or is that random as well?

One of the main pluses of getting married was not having the dither at immigration whether to go up together or not :)

One time we were told separately, next time when we went separately the customs man asked 'Are you travelling with him why didn't you come up together?'

Official last time was very friendly and let DD sit on his counter so she could see.

One of the main pluses of not being married is the same - as long as you don't take anyone with you :lmao:

They never asked me what the relationship was. We just went up. Give it a go whats the worst they could Say. "Youll have to wait" Not exactly going to send you home ;)

I have been to Orlando 4 times in the last 5 years and me and my girlfriend have always went to the desk together.

Usually I've been with family so never had a problem..
The other year I went with my ex and a couple infront said they were going seperately as sometimes the officials are fine but sometimes they say seperate.
For the interest of being a good egg I think I'm gonna go through seperate from my boyfriend just to avoid having to bow my head in shame and wait :rotfl2:

Me and a friend went last year, queued together then went to seperate desks.

It's a bit of an advantage I think as it makes it that little but quicker.

We made a deal first one through goes straight to the luggage belt

those that have been recently, I gather that the immigration hall has changed and you are a single "snake" allotted to open booths at the exit?

Yes it was like that at MCO in October - 1 line and then you went to the next free desk when you reached the front of the line.

My mum has a different surname to me and my brother but we all go up together and its never been a problem ( im 32 and my brothers 27 so not kids)
My mums fingerprint never works its so funny every time they get her rubbing her finger on her forehead over and over to try and make it work:rotfl2:

My housemate (was my bf, now just best friends) and I went through together in Nov. We'd completed 2 of the forms they give you as we obviously have different surnames. The guy asked why we'd completed 2 forms! He said that as we lived together we were classed as the same "family" and promptly ripped one up haha.

We've been through 3 times and always gone together, I didn't realise it was an issue.
