immigration and green waiver card question

I'm guessing that this has never happened to anyone else but incase...

I was in Orlando last november with my family, did the green waiver thing and they stapled the three green cards to my passport.

On they way out I flew via Nassau to visit my cousin (she married a millionaire. I'm very poor!) and then back to Gatwick from nassau.

When I left orlando on a wee delta puddle jumper to nassau, they never took the green cards out the passport like they normally do. Neither did they do it from nassau.

So the green cards are still in my passport. When I go to orlando this november, will we get a hard time for still having the green cards? Will they think we are still in the country from last year? Am I best ripping the cards out and playing the daft laddie?

Any ideas?

I don't want to worry you, but as afr as the USA immigration is concered, you have outstayed your visa waiver.
I would imagine that your passport has been flagged on their computer as such and when you re-enter the USA you will be subject to a long questioning.

I would get onto the US Embassy as soon as you can and explain the situation.

As Obi said you need to contact Immigration ASAP, you may need to prove what date you returned otherwise they will think you have only just returned.

Thanks. I have been trying, but its a 090 number. My home phone company, Mercury telecom. Routinely blocks all 090 numbers following the UK wide dial up pron line fiascos in previous years and will not drop this bar. My Vodaphone mobile also has this bar. They will drop it but only after I have paid a direct debit on my new mobile contract that I just got!

Bit of a problem. I just cant work out how to phone them! Might try something like skype. thanks for the info.

You are probably going to end up having to visit the embassy with proof of when you left the US, like your ticket stubs, and proof you've been in the UK for the last few months, like bank statements showing you spending money here and things like wage slips. They can get very silly with things like this and you may end up needing a visa for future travel.

I'm not trying to alarm you, but you need to get onto them ASAP as they can take months to accept your here and not there. Their own eyes are not good enough proof .

There is no email or written address. Its just a 090 premium rate phone number for visa queries. I'll have to somehow work out how to phone them.

The same thing happened to us at Downtown Disney last week, they did not remove them from our passports. We are having to send them to Kentucky along with our boarding cards (which thankfully I kept!) and proof that we are living in this country (they are getting my Tesco home shopping list )

It's a total pain in the butt, but better than being interrogated next time we enter the USA.

Sometimes due to an oversight the card is not removed. If this occurs, the passenger's departure from the United States will not be registered with the CBP.

If this happens, the next time you apply to enter the United States, your visa may be subject to cancellation and/or you may be denied entry into the United States. In particular, visitors who remain beyond their permitted stay in the United States under the Visa Waiver Program cannot reenter the U.S. in the future without obtaining a visa. If this occurs and you arrive at a U.S. port of entry seeking admission under the Visa Waiver Program without a visa, United States immigration officials may deny you entry into the U.S. Therefore, visitors must ensure that they surrender the I-94 or I-94W stub to the transport carrier before they depart the United States.



I still have the I-94 or I-94W in my possession; what should I do?
If you have left the United States and are still in possession of the I-94 or I-94W it is in your best interest to forward it to the appropriate authorities so that your record is corrected and that you do not experience any problems on future travel to the United States as a result.

It is very important that you complete the back of the card listing the port of departure and date of departure from the United States and the carrier/flight information. The I-94 or I-94W together with a letter of explanation and evidence of your departure from the U.S. should be sent to:




ACS-USCBP, SBU, P.O. Box 7125
London KY 40742-7125
USA






Do not mail the I-94/I-94W to the Embassy. Doing so will only delay the update of the departure information. The CBP office in London cannot update the arrival and departure system.



What evidence of my departure from the United States do you require?
The evidence can come from a variety of sources, including but not limited to:

Original boarding passes you used to depart the United States;


Entry or departure stamps in your passport to indicate you entered another country after you departed the United States (please copy all passport pages that are not completely blank and include the biographic page containing your photograph);


Dated pay slips or vouchers from your employer to indicate that you worked in another country after you departed the United States;


Dated bank records showing transactions in your home country to indicate that you were in another country after your left the United States;


School records showing your attendance at a school outside the United States to indicate you were in another country after you left the United States;


Dated credit card receipts with the credit card number deleted for purchases you made after you departed the United States to indicate you were in another country after you left the United States.
Plase send legible copies or the original material where possible. If you send original materials please retain a copy for your records; the originals will not be returned to you. It will assist the CBP if you include an explanation letter.
