My mom and I are going to go to Disney for the free dining. I was just about to book my airfare and had a thought...

We are looking at going Wednesday, Sept. 3 - Tuesday, Sept.9, but realized Labor day is Monday, Sept. 1. Do you think the parks will be nuts the first few days because of the holiday? Or do you think because school is just starting it may not be too bad?

Or other option is to go mid month which is about $100 more.

Anyone been there during that week of Labor day?

Thank you

We always arrive the Sunday before Labor Day and stay the week after. Our experience, even w/ free dining is that Sunday is pretty crowded but on Monday the crowds begin to thin way out and more so on Tuesday. Other than the Sunday before Labor Day the longest wait time we had was 15 mins and that was for Soarin.

I agree with the pp. We always go the Sun. before Labor Day & stay that entire week. The holiday weekend is busy, but after that things really die down. Since you're not planning on going until the Wed. after the holiday, I'm sure you'll be fine--any holiday crowds should have subsided.

We always head down to WDW Labor Day Weekend...crowds in parks are kinda heavy on Sunday but much better on Labor Day and then very light the week afterwards. This is our favorite time to go. Last time we went we never even used a FP...walked right on Soarin and all the Mtns. Walked right on EE. You'll love it.:thumbsup2

We were there last year for Labor Day. Arrived the Saturday before and left the following Sunday. We did not go to a park on arrival day; we went to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday and it was very, very crowded, but we still got a lot done. On Labor Day, we went to the extra morning hour at Animal Kingdom and left around 1:00--however, we did Expedition Everest four times, Dinosaur three times (once we stayed on and did not have to get off), the safari, Tough To Be a Bug and had lunch...plus wandering around and then went to the Studios in the evening. So Labor Day itself was not bad and by Tuesday we waited 10 minutes for most rides (30 minutes for the mountains and Soarin'...which we used fast passes for and also waited in line). The restaurants were very busy, but we never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes past our ADR.
