I'm.........

More thunderstorms, lightning and wind last night

Going to the grocery store this morning. No food here

tying up loose ends........shrunk all the clothing to find more room in the van....caressed the refrigerated peaches to see if they will be in good shape next wednesday for the gentleman who watered our yard...( ripe peaches have great currency in Yuma),, repacked the box of thrift store goodies for the 3rd time....then wife says the ice chest size air conditioner can stay in oregon with her grandson and she will tolerate the massive (think christmas story furnace here) air conditioner now in our yuma bedroom. .....last letters sent to penpals and yuma family.

How many days to travel to AZ?

What did you decide regarding peaches?
leaving sunday.....things are going haywire...dog not settling down....wife has extensive leg pain....but weather is looking very good for next week southwest, early part that is .... then the scattered storms...we have to cross many flash flood washes
between Quartsite and US army proving ground.

So....looking at sunday night in Susanville, monday in Beatty and Tuesday in Henderson, south east of vegas then have to stay at motel when we arrive and open up the house and get it cooled down before we bring in dog or fix anything that has gone wrong in the vacant house.

PEACHES ARE A GO!!!!!!!!....most valuable freight we be hauling across that desolate Nevada desert ......though wife thinks dog is more valuable ....but hey push come to shove wife and dog can float down the colorado river....we shadow it on our last day....massive river running thru the forsaken desert.

I’m happy to say that DH accepted a job offer yesterday, so he was without work for under a month - thank God. Katie‘s 18th birthday is Saturday, so this job came at the perfect time. I never cancelled our dinner reservations for Saturday in hopes DH would find a job by her bday, so Katie is very excited about us being able to still go (she told me to cancel the reservation when DH lost his job - she’s the most unselfish kid - makes me proud) Chicago has a mask mandate again, which is a bummer, but it is what is, we won’t have it dampen the birthday dinner.

Very happy to read your news, slo!

We fly home from TN today. Looks like a clear day, all the rain we had yesterday made creeks in the mountains overflow and DS’s campsite was in danger of flooding, so they moved last night to Gatlinburg. It was great seeing them!

chickapin-parterre, what’s your dog‘s name. I think you mentioned it, but I forgot!

not a good dog name..has no fricative. Which every dog name should have.....Mumsey, no hard sound, but alas it is her registered, 2 inch paper work thick, pedigree name....I am going with Mudzzey....she is a lover like any mum....but has led a a very sheltered professional kennel dog....and every day is a surpise....even to my wife who raised shar peis for years.

I‘m taking Kate to the orthopedic today for her 2 week post op appointment - we‘re hoping he will let her start PT to get that knee back in working order. Hoping for a mid-September easing back into softball start.

I’m excited for this weekend - I always love celebrating my kids bdays. Tonight we’re having a bday sign delivered to surprise DD (18 is a big birthday), then tomorrow on her bday we’re going to the restaurant she requested downtown Chicago and then Sunday we’ll have the grandparents over for some pizza and cake. It’ll be a fun weekend.

I’m loving this sign we had delivered last night. I scheduled it to arrive when Katie was at the HS football game to surprise her when she came home. She was so excited to see it. The sign stays all day and is picked up tonight. So fun!

Happy Birthday to Katie!! :bday: :cake:

Cute sign.....better than we ever do. We have a generic Happy Birthday sign that hangs on the front door and a Happy Birthday garden flag

Kids' soccer game today. Between going over to DD's house to help her with her TVS and sort her jewelry.

I’m looking forward to spending the day with family today to celebrate Katie’s birthday. Its going to be a beautiful day today too, so we can sit outside.

Last nights dinner was a lot of fun. It was a one and done restaurant - to expensive. It was perfect for this birthday, but we don’t need to go back next year.

We rented an adult tricycle for a week, so tomorrow morning, DSis, DH and I will head out for the promenade!

Our figs have begun to ripen. I enjoy gardening and being able to enjoy a home grown snack is especially satisfying.
