I had no idea it closed. I remember it was a huge deal to have a Longaberger party.

It closed, but I did find this...story from November 2019...

Longaberger baskets are making a comeback under a new owner.

Dresden, Ohio-based Dresden & Co. has entered into a license agreement to manufacture the baskets again, in a deal with New York City consumer products conglomerate Xcel Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ: XELB) and Chicago-based Hillco Global, which have acquired the intellectual property of the one-time distinctive brand of baskets and consumer goods.

The new brand is set to launch on QVC Wednesday evening, with an appearance by Tami and Rachel Longaberger, whose father founded the basketmaking enterprise in 1973 and grew it to $10 billion in sales. The company was sold to a new parent company in 2013 and later filed for bankruptcy protection.

Longaberger Co. vacated its distinctive headquarters at 1500 E. Main St. in Newark in 2016, two years before ceasing operations. Today, the basket-shaped building's owners are planning to turn it into a boutique hote

Well, that’s my puzzle.
When we lived in Ohio, I often flew back to Philadelphia. Only once in the flight did we fly a path that I could see the basket from the air. I was so happy!

* Odysseus competed in a athletic competition, the swoosh of his strength pulling the bow and the speeding arrow his trademark

* Bill bowerman choose a swoosh to trademark his Nike shoe wear.

* Nike, Powells books , Meir Frank, Lloyd Center and lesser known Portlandia are known landmarks in Portland.

* Portlandia is statue similar to Liberty, but she is bending down to offer comfort with her outstretched hand.

* Comfort is what actor Eddie Rochester Anderson needed on the the lap of Lincoln statue , a racist scene in MAD, mad, mad mad world, in which Chickapin childhood landlord was a stunt cast member.


And the college students on Jeopardy had not heard of Bill Bowernam or Portlandia.

I have watched Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world; many many many times with my father when I was young.

.....and though Meeko has been washing his hands far longer than the Happy Birthday song twice, the cleansing of his hands was not the purpose of washing captured prey in water. Raccoons don't have saliva glands and come wednesday morning some of my saliva glands will be removed. So invasive will the surgery be, unlikely I will be at the computer for the next few weeks. My absence starts at this posting as the computer room is being turned in a bedroom for wife's visiting daughter out of rural Oregon and she has been housebound for 3 weeks.

Which is a shamed because every dentist I encountered found my saliva glands were quite active and probably a foundation for the healthy teeth I neglected. Four hours of surgery t remove the golf ball size tumor below my ear lobe ( though not actually an ear lob, but skin taken off my collar bone two years for the same surgery) and the tumor around my thyroid and saliva glands.

Hopefully the surgeon will not encounter what they expect to find, but that I continue to make cancer history as I did during the surgery two years ago. Though on this surgery, there will be paralysis, where and length of paralysis is uncertain. and on the recliner I will sit, healing and thinking of Rascal, Meeko and what ever raccoon that was that attacked Buddy the elf.....I am sure I would like a boiled crawdad when the time comes.

But to the usual stuff......nail day yesterday was fun. DGD discovered she loved the foot bath. Auntie did her nails so nice and the way she wanted them. DGD did my fingernails and I may never get the color around the edges of my fingers off..,,,,,but that doesn't matter
