I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

I wonder how the younger kids feel when they see a tape of the show where she keeps complaining how she got "stuck with the pre-schoolers"?

You mean you got STUCK with your own children? BTW I know she always babied them (bibs and high chairs long past the usual age) but since when are 7 year old kids preschoolers?

I know, isn't a 7 year old in 2nd grade? Since when is that preschool?

I never use those terms, just doesn't occur to me. I'm just with the kids. I don't get "babysitting" or "watching" your own kids. They are just with you, kinda from birth on. lol

I know - one of my pet peeves is when dads say they are babysitting (or someone asks me if my husband is babysitting our kids). You don't babysit your own kids!

When you have EIGHT (:eek::eek:) children, it's obviously very hard to keep track. Cut her some slack ;).

I realize there are 8 of them, but I still think calling your 7 year olds (and there are 6 of them) preschoolers is ridiculous. She said something about pre-teen drama in regards to Mady and Cara, and they are almost 11, so she doesn't seem to have a problem remembering their age. Actually, she may have 8 kids, but she only has two birth dates/ages to keep up with!

Sorry, I thought the ;) was enough to indicate sarcasm lol.

I just want to know what, "I said that was a chair and I meant it" means. ;)

(Not enough to actually watch the show, though...)

I don't follow anyone around 24/7 but I certainly know which of the people I know are "nice" or "not nice." You don't have to be around someone 100% of the time to know what they are like. Sure the show is edited, but Kate sure seems to give them plenty of material. Who flips out like that because someone lets the kids eat leftover pizza?

I get that caring for eight kids can be stressful, but she's not the only person in the world with a big family. I knew families with 15, 17 and 21 kids when I was growing up, and their parents were not nearly as nasty as Kate can be. Ever. I have a friend with seven kids, including two sets of twins, and I used to know another who had twins, then quadruplets, then another set of twins - eight kids under six. She was one of the nicest, funniest people you ever met - yes, it was stressful but she dealt with it with humour, not by being rude and unpleasant to other people or her kids.

I don't know for sure whether or not those kids will be pulled out of the private school, or if Kate will have to sell the mansion and move to a more affordable home, or even whether she will have to sell her Audi sports car. What I do know is that some if not all of those things will have to happen when her income is drastically reduced and she has to work a mediocre job like the rest of us. At some point in the near future, Kate will have to make those decisions, but if it is true that she is spending $500,000 per year on private school tuition, it doesn't take an MBA or CPA to figure out that the private school may end up on the chopping block. Yanking the kids out of their private school could very well be for their own good if their parent(s) cannot afford that along with everything else needed for their well being.

Now that she's unemployed, they may qualify for tuition assistance or scholarships. ;)

We actually have a friend in Alaska who witnessed Kate firsthand when she did the Sarah Palin playdate. She told us Kate was demanding, demeaning and just plain downright rude. Even when the show first started and she was doing the church circuit for the love offerings, people reported how nasty she was. Leopards don't change their spots!:cool2:

I would argue that TLC has went out of their way to edit the footage over the years to make Kate look nicer than she actually is. But there is only so much even TLC could do. I would argue that Kate is probably actually worse to everyone around her when the cameras aren't rolling. That is a scary thought. :scared1:

And I would argue that TLC went out of their way to edit the footage over the years to make Kate look worse than she actually is. Drama = ratings = profit.

:thumbsup2 Yup, there are plenty of firsthand accounts of what Kate is like when the cameras are off.

I've said this earlier but I'll ask again, how could TLC possibly make her look bad if she wasn't saying the things she says and acting the way she acts? I mean I understand editing magic, but they can't edit words into her mouth..

I agree. I think Reality TV exaggerates your personality but it can't create a totally 180 degree character shift.

They can ask the people to create drama. Happens all the time in reality shows. Do you really think they are all unscripted? :rotfl:

TLC went out of their way to edit the footage over the years to make Kate look nicer than she actually is. You are welcome to believe otherwise if you wish, but I'm not buying it.
