I'm watching "Friends" and I'm confused...

Remember the Thanksgiving episode where Monica puts the turkey on her head and Chandler tells her he loves her and she gets all excited and he gets all freaked out because he said it?

Well... the episode I'm watching right now is the one where Rachel and Phoebe find out about Chandler and Monica. Phoebe pretends to like him and they do that whole song-and-dance.

Chandler says he can't be with Phoebe and she asks why. He says "because I'm in love with Monica. That's right, I love her" (or something like that... too lazy to rewind). And then the two of them do the whole "I love you" thing... Phoebe says "I didn't know you were in love!"

Soooooooooo... question is... why was the turkey episode so important when he already said he was in love with her and she said she loved him too?

The only thing I can think of is that the turkey episode was AFTER this one? But that doesn't seem right to me... gonna have to look it up now.

"The One Where Everyone Finds Out" was Feb 1999
"The One with the Girl Who Hits Joey" was the very next episode... Feb 1999

It's been a while, but I think because he blurted it out, but it kind of freaked them both out in the turkey episode? But when he said it later on, they knew it was for real.

I thought it was because Monica found out in the Turkey episode so she was surprised.

In the other episode Phoebe finds out so she's surprised. If I remember correctly Monica just sort of walks out of the bathroom and snuggles him. She's not surprised just happy
