I'm Taking My 360 Thread Counters, Who's With Me?

My DW and I always each bring one pillow (goose down - thy are relatively light and squish well into suitcases) from our bed at home. It always adds a little more of a touch of being at home...and, besides....I love my pillows!! ;)

I've always brought our own fitted sheets. Can't stand having a non-fitted sheet on the bed. Then I figured I am bringing the fitted sheet, I might as well bring the matching top sheet. Then I thought, what the heck, I might as well bring the pillows. We used to fly to Florida and brought LOTS of luggage. We moved to FL this summer and we are only an hours drive from WDW. My husband is VERY afraid of what I am going to bring for our upcoming trip. He was just joking today that he wouldn't be at all surprised to come home and find our mattress strapped to the van. Hmmmmm.................

Excellent idea about the homemade duvet! :)

My down pillow goes with me everywhere I travel!

I think DVC could make their beds much nicer if they added a memory foam pad to each one.

I wish they were more like the Heavenly beds at the Swan & Dolphin. Those are amazingly comfortable!

I've posted a few times over the years that we take our own (non-white) fitted sheet and may be the one that MJTinNH referred to.

We started doing this after one stay when getting into bed the first night I could feel the bare mattress under my feet (and I'm only 5'3"). The sheet didn't even reach the foot of the bed, let alone go over the bottom to be tucked in.

I have a light green King-size (1-Br.) and a light yellow Queen-size (studio) that co-ordinate with our home resort of BWV. I just pack the appropiate sized sheet for our stay Since these are nice thread count sheets (I don't want to lose them) and my sewing machine can do it, I've embroidered:
Property of (our name)
DVC #
Please return if found

This is on the head/foot part that is covered by the blankets and headboard, so it will only be seen if Mousekeeping arrives on an unscheduled day and remakes the bed. When Mousekeeping is scheduled, I take off the fitted sheet and throw it in the washer before leaving for the day.

When we remade the bed with our own fitted bottom sheet that first time, I was just going to fold the DVC sheet and put it away. Then I remembered how much I've liked hotels that are 'triple sheeted', so we did that. It just gives a much more 'Deluxe' feel to our 'home' than the way DVC Mousekeeping makes the bed.

Wanted to say Thanks for the "3 sheet" suggestion. We had already purchased a fitted sheet for our trip last month and tried the "3 sheet" method with safety pins to keep it in place. It was great!

"Fitted Sheet" Don't go home without it!

We actually sleep on top of the top sheet...only use the blanket that is on the bed and any extra one. We fold over and don't use the quilt/comforter for fear of (eeek) germs.

Never brought our own sheets although I have contemplated bringing our own pillowcases.

You are worried about germs, they don't change the blanket between guests either. I always fold the top of the sheet over the top of the blanket so the blanket isn't touching my face.

Some great posts! I love the 3 sheet idea. And LisaR who brought first sheets, now pillows !! :teeth:

Diane - those are 600 thread count sheets? Wow! Unfortunately I stay away too much on business, and can't quite re-capture the feeling of the OKW bed linens in my head, but I certainly can remember the bottom sheet coming up loose all the time.

I think a fitted sheet is in our future this time as well as egg crates!!!

sue

Since we began taking our own king fitted sheet, which we just put OVER the regular sheet, I have slept much better. I also bring my own pillow.

WOW!, the Duvet idea is great !
Thanks guys:wave2: I was taking the fitted sheet this time anyway. Just have to remember the pins!!

Sounds like a good idea but doesn't it get all lumpy and wrinkled after a couple of nights?

The fitted sheet actually keeps the bottom sheet nicely in place.
I don't like the *germy* bedspreads either, but DW and DD's don't seem to mind. I like to keep it off the bed.

Just got my King fitted sheet yesterday for my Dec trip. So glad you all gave me such good advice. Thanks
