Today was the kidlets first day of kindergarten. They're only gone for less than three hours and I'm looking forward to the time to myself. We took the pictures/video, kissed them goodbye, smiled and waved, and as the bus pulled away, I burst into tears:sad: Dh thought it was hysterical :rotfl: and proceeded to turn the video camera on me.

Oh well, I guess my babies aren't babies anymore.

No you won't! You'll be crying because they're going off to college! I dropped my 7th and 5th graders off this year and felt a little weepy - for about two seconds.

I think kindergarten is harder on the parents than the kids! I cried after dropping dd off, too. And she'd been in daycare while I was at work since she was tiny--it wasn't like this was a shock to EITHER of us! :teeth:

:grouphug: I cried when my DD's went to Kindergarten too! The time goes by too fast! Now my babies are in 1st and 4th grade. :earboy2:

It's a Mommy thing you cry all you want. This will be the first of many crying jags you are entitled to it!!! :goodvibes

Don't be hard on yourself. It was one of those Mom moments that you'll never forget as your children grow into independence from you.

DH was only laughing at you so you wouldn't see his tears!

You're not a sap...just a Mom.

I did the same thing when each of my daughters began Kindergarten and repeated it some 14 years later last Sunday as my 'baby' entered University. I am now officially an 'empty nester' and in a heartbeat would go back to that first day of school that seems only yesterday...
:sad1:

This was a tough fall for me--sent my oldest to college and my youngest to kindergarten. Before sending my DD to college I was actually looking forward to her going. She's a teenager with a mouth, she's been on the go so much we were hardly spending time with her anyway, and it was time. However, the day before she left I fell apart.

I was very concerned that I would really fall apart a few days later when I put my son on the bus to kindergarten. Ended up I was a little concerned about his adjustment, but I was not upset at all. And he's done well at school so I don't mind him going at all.

Thanks for the support everyone! I know I'll be fine on monday when I put them on the bus. I'm excited to see the children grow and make new friends. I just don't know where the time's gone. It seems like yesterday that they sent me home with these two tiny babies whose preemie clothes were a little too big for them.

As I was walking my second graders to school today (twins also :love1: ) we passed through a group of parents putting their kindergarteners on the bus for the first time and there were lots of tears there too. Seeing them I got a bit misty myself...but oddly enough I didn't cry when my own got on that kindergarten bus for the first time - I think I was just happy to have a few hours to myself after almost 6 years of :hyper2: !!
