hi...

We have just made reservations for the Yacht club (my mother, freind, and myself)...for the week of August 23...
we were originally hoping for the BC...but that was booked for standard rooms...plus had few rooms with balconies...

so we booked the YC...for a standard room...but I'm somewhat confused...

1) We were only able to book either standard, or water....why are people mentioning those with gardnen view rooms!! I'd prefer to have a few of the gardens or surrounding grounds, then of the front entrance...especially since we have a balcony?!?!

2) are the refilable mugs worth it? We've stayed at moderates in the past...and the refilable mugs came in handy at the end of the day....from what I have read...there is few places to fill your mug...and most are either too crowded...or not opened at night....we don't mind spending the money if its worth it??

3) Food??? We're used to the open food courts...is there any place where we can go to just grab a snack or cookie...without having to sit down or wait a half hour???

4) Where does the slide empty out!!! ok this is really confusing!! I've looked in hundreds of pictures..and have'nt found one that shows where the slide empties out!! (ok stupid question...but it looks like a huge pool...I don't want to get lost!!:( )

Thanks guys!

I can help you on #1. Standard views include views of gardens or courtyards, as well as parking lot or front entrance. I believe all the Yacht Club rooms have a balcony or patio (first floor).

First of all, welcome to the DIS!

The slide is on the Beach Club side. My pic doesn't quite show where it ends, but it's close. The slide begins on the boat at the top left of the picture and it ends just to the left of the picture.

First let me tell you that YC is my FAVORITE resort so far and I have stayed in the WL, Poly and Allstars also.

Last time booked a standard room and faxed a room request in for a room close to the lobby with a nice view. We got a room overlooking the wedding gazebo and even saw a wedding :-) When we are able to go back to the YC I will ask for a room overlooking the gazebo .. but facing the Epcot side as the people across the courtyard from us could see Illuminations from thier balconies!

I love the pool at the YC. It's big, but nice. The ONE thing this resort lacks is a place to get a quick meal. But, Beaches and Cream is very good for a casual meal. YUMMY!

You might want to check out the Dolphin for quick food. It's next door. They have an ice cream/sandwich place similar to Beaches & Cream (I didn't say 'as good as', but we've liked the sandwiches) and there's also a buffeteria.

My family and I stayed at the BC in Feb. and found that we ate a lot of our quick meals/snacks over at the boardwalk. They had a pizza place, bakery, ESPN and also a hot dog/fry cart. It is not a very far walk (about 3-5 minutes). Spoodles and Flying Fish are also great sit down restaurants located at the boardwalk. Hope you have a great trip!

The gift shop at BC has a small refrigerated case where you can get a few items. My son needed his chocolate milk fix and we were able to buy it there. They also had chips and such. I'll bet the YC has the same.

We lovvve the YC! It was the very first place we ever stayed on-site :)

While there is no "quickie" place to grab something to eat (no food court), you can buy a few items at the gift shop like Earstou mentioned. But, if you're hungry after the GS closes, you're out of luck so you might want to stock up on chips/cookies, etc.

Walking over to the BW is another great idea (they have a FAB little hot dog stand) but if it's raining, fuhgetaboutit ~ it's horrendous.

Don't worry about where the slide lets you out, you can't get lost at SAB ;)

I found the lack of food at the BC a real problem. For breakfast you could do the Character Breakfast or a cold donut. I think the YC has a buffet breakfast available. If you try Beaches and Cream, you have to eat early or late as it is VERY BUSY and quite SMALL. Maybe 4 or 5 tables and several booths. We've had to wait almost an hour to eat there. It makes no sense for a resort of this size. We gave up on using the mugs as the same line took take-out food orders as refilled the mugs.

Refillable mugs are a good deal - while there aren't as many places to get a refill it really isn't that difficult. In the YC lobby there is a little bar (opposite side from check-in area) it is open at breakfast time and again in the evenings. Beaches & Cream is a second option - it is usually crowded but if you only need a refill ask someone and they will generally help you without having to wait - just be nice & they will generally be nice back. A third option is Hurricane Hannah's - the poolside bar. You can get a refill at either side of the line (food or bar/food side). A fourth option is the little bar area in the BC lobby (on the same side and adjacent to the check-in area). It is also open at breakfast time and in the afternoon/evenings. As for fast food - Beaches & Cream and Hurricane Hannah's are your only options right at the resort. Boardwalk is a good option. Pizza slices, ESPN, and a bakery that has the sweet tooth items you might need. Hope I haven't repeated too much of the other posts - hope this helps - you'll love the YC - Have a good trip!

Hi. I agree with the person who said that getting quick food there is a problem. We were used to the Wilderness Lodge where they had a 24 hr. snack shop, very convenient. The Yacht Club has no such thing, only Beaches & Cream which depending on where your room is can be quite a walk. Also, I don't think the Dolphin or the Boardwalk are a satisfactory substiitue for an on site snack shop. When you want a bagel in the morning, or coffee, who feels like hiking all the way over to the Boardwalk. I thought that for the money, this resort should have provided an in-lobby snack shop. As far as the refillable mugs, they are usually a good idea. The slide begins as a hollowed-out log type thing, then turns into an actual slide which empties right where the previous person who posted a picture says it empties. The water is not deep. I thought the more frightening part was the log, maybe because it was night and it was dark. One big plus of the Yacht Club is the fact that you can walk over to Epcot. Other than that, we preferred the Wilderness Lodge and Polynesian to the Beach/Yacht Club.
