I'm so.......

Nan we too always have the same things over and over.
But I have to have that calendar or we would have nothing to eat everynight.
I always allow for the "I don't feel like cooking tonight" night. And on those nights we have whatever you want. Dh will usually have lobster ravioli, bubba has a hot dog and I have cereal. And truth be told I love those nights for me!!!!

Me too... We do the same thing..
breakfast night is a big hit... it's make your own... or sometimes I'll make everything and it's make your own blasted plate! LOL I don't do breakfast foods in the morning..stinks up my house...and I'm not the morning person.. DH likes to cook breakfast in the AM... I get the grumpy kids up...and he rewards them with a hot breakfast... me, I'm ready to box his ears in for cooking in the AM, because I hate the idea for myself! He does clean it up so I don't complain too much...

When I set the calendar up, I split the box in 1/4 & 3/4 sections.. the 1/4 section tells us what events we have that night, whom and time.. the 3/4 section states the meal plan..

I do most of the cooking here. When I cook, I clean it up...when DH cooks (on that rare occasion) I usually clean up. A few weeks ago I went on strike. Put my dish in the dishwasher, and left everything else. In the morning, I threw out all the spoiled food on the counter. Moral? Go on strike AFTER you get the left overs in the fridge :lmao:

Ya know, when I was working weekends only, it wasn't any big deal to be cooking every night...now, I'm tired when I get home. Some nights they have to just fend for themselves, I don't want to cook. But my kids are older, so I can get away with that...

ARGHHHHHHH
so he's been home all day granted he had to have the vet here for a cow issue (Don't ask it's gross and she'll be fine hopefully) and the puppy needed her next set of shots and chipped (my father had a few choice word for that slippery little weasel).

any way i degress and he couldn't wash the crockpot and throw in the pork chops. BRAT BRAT
I just got in from J's only bought things for the boys valentines and socks for me for st paddy's mom found some fabric I had to have for their quilts so okay mom what ever you say.

Whoops there I go again and I had to start dinner

guess I'm mad I can't even stay on topic

Okay vent over. and I'm off to dirty every pot I own as payback

I saw some research somewhere that said most people use the same 10 standard meals over and over. Yup, true to form, that's pretty much us.

Chicken in some form - roast, baked, teriaki or crock potted in some combination. soup from the bones
meatloaf - husband's favorite
Fish - usually salmon, haddock, catfish, clam chowder (red)
chili or bean dish
pork chops - some times pork roast instead
Italian - lasagne, ravioli, spaghetti - this is hard, because we both love it, but it jacks my bg.
tacos - (I eat taco salad - tortillas aren't so diabetes friendly)
beef - stew, steak, pot roast, plain burgers, soup
sausage - smoky link, kielbasa, etc. dh is german. he likes "wurst"

That's about it. That's why it wasn't so hard to do the carb and calorie counts on the recipes - a couple months of occasional work, and it was done.

I've branched out way more since healthy eating - I was so bored before with the same old same old. Now, it's kind of a challenge to be creative - to try and stuff things with unseen veggies - to try to lower the carb count on something.

THEN I discovered my local co-op has meat for half price on Monday and Friday mornings. So I stop on my way home from the gym (at opening time) and snap up a bunch for cheap. After that, I have to figure out what to do with it.

BAMB, threaten the Blink children that Miss Lisa is going to come over and cook again for them. :rotfl2: Remember, they appreciated you after that. (They are used to Buffy's style of cooking and didn't care for my style at all. I didn't even make oatmeal like Mom Blink) :rotfl2:

BAMB, one of the things I started doing around here to get out of the cleaning was to tell the boys if they wanted a ride to school in the morning and not take the bus, they must clean the kitchen after dinner. Yep, clear table, load diswasher, wash, dry and put away. Little complaining and they do it together. So, not only am I getting out of dishes, my boys are learning to get along :) It's a 2 for 1.

Now of course you don't have to use the bus thing. It can be for anything they want on a daily basis or close to it. Doesn't help the cooking thing, but I know your 2 oldest are old enough to do the dishes.
