Hi everyone!

We just found out a few weeks ago that we will be heading to Disney in the fall thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation! Our whole family, my husband, myself, our three children (two boys ages 11 and 9 and a daughter who is 4) will be staying at the Give Kids the World resort!

We are thrilled and have been trying to learn as much as we can about Disney as none of us have ever been!

My oldest son read about the pin trading and that is something he is very intersted in! Can someone please give us a brief idea of how this works and where we can get some pins for him to have when he gets there to start his trading? Thanks!

PLEASE use the good/bad ebay thread a bit farther down on this main page for ideas of good ebay sellers to get your pins from. Some will also have lanyards, you can also find lanyards places like Michael's for $1 each. They don't always have them but I've seen some reports that they do right now. :)

Pin trading is very simple for the most part, you just find a CM wearing a lanyard and ask to see their pins, then if you see something you like ask to trade 1 for 1, the only "catch" is the CM cannot accept a pin that is already on their lanyard. Some CM's will have teal lanyards that only kids 12 and under are allowed to trade from. Each person who is trading can trade 2 pins per CM, so our family of 4 can trade up to 8 pins from 1 CM, unless they have the teal lanyard, then only DD10 can trade. :)
Regular people may also be trading in the parks, approach these with caution as some may be very open to trading but others may be quite rude. I have 1 person in particular who delights in telling me everything I have is a scrapper and she won't trade with me, when I know for a fact they aren't scrappers she just doesn't want my pins. BUT when she does want one I have she's extremely nice and really wants my stuff, at that point I just smile and say "no thanks". :) Don't be afraid to approach just be aware that they might not all be as nice as we are and may turn you away.

To learn more about scrappers please visit the good/bad ebay thread as that will help you learn a lot about what a scrappers is and why it's a scrapper.

Enjoy your trip to the parks and have a great time trading!!
