I'm so disappointed and I don't know what to do

we kept forgetting to put our masks back on all the time. it was confusing. But loved not wearing it outside. We’re fully vaxed, and that trip was 3 generations who were ALL fully vaxed From ages 12 to 70 years old. I find kids seem to not really care about masks. They are such troopers through this.

I think you are mixing up confusion for forgetfulness.
The rules are pretty clear; certainly, their intent is clear.

It would depend on when you are 'entering an attraction'. So I'm standing last in line for SDD I need a mask 70 minutes before riding, but my wife isn't going to ride it but is just talking to me she doesn't? I'm in a walkway with people constantly walking past unmasked. When there early June (they got rid of the indoor mask mandate during our trip) they were not making any attempt to have people where masks at that spot even though we were 'in line'.

Just put it on and keep it on. You'll be good.

I'm also planned at the end of August.

I actually don't mind the return to mask requirements, and honestly if Disney would bring back some of the other measures it had before it relaxed it's safety measures I would still have no problems going.

I'm keeping an eye on the numbers and will decide closer to my arrival date whether or not to go or to reschedule.

I consider where you tap In to be the official queue. My guess is, that’s the point at which you’ll be required to put a mask on whether it’s indoors or not.

Don’t forget to bring a baggie or something to put your mask in when you want to take them off and put them back on if you don’t intend to wear the entire time!
I agree with PPs about investing in a lanyard
Worked great both on my June park day when masks were indoors only and last week when they weren’t but we still chose to wear them indoors and in bottleneck outdoor crowds

How old are your sons? If they are under 12 and unvaccinated they were already required to wear masks indoors at Disney anyway.
They are 12 and 16 and are both fully vaccinated! Me too since February since I'm a teacher. I'm not worried at all about getting covid. I'm worried about standing outside in the lines wearing a mask and being so hot it's not fun or worth the $ I spent.

Have your sons expressed an opinion as to whether masking will bother them? I personally found the partial masking of early June much easier to handle then the mask rules of last August.
The oldest tolerates the heat during a normal August, but doesn't really enjoy it. He's leaning towards wanting to cancel. I'm torn.

yep, maybe both at our age, we put it on as soon as we realized it was missing and thanked the cm for the reminder. eventually we got the pattern down. It was our first trip where we could take it off. Before that we had it on all the time. We are fine wearing the mask when asked.

Trip planned for Aug 16. DW, DS, DD, and I are all vaccinated. I agree with a previous poster who said that, with the numbers in Orange County and Florida in general, Disney really had to do something. I was disappointed when I saw the news but I'm also relieved a little bit because even if it decreases the possibility of spread just a little bit, it's worth it IMO. Also, I'm kind of hoping people DO cancel their trips making it less crowded for my trip!

We arrived for our trip in mid-May the day they removed the full mask requirement. We only had to wear masks inside, and in line when the cast members instructed us at the official start of the line (where the fast pass tap in is). We did not have to wear masks at the back of the line, before getting to the "official" entrance. I'm not sure what it's like now, however. We didn't find it to be much of an issue. There was no social distancing in the lines, so masking is probably a good idea now given the highly contagious delta variant.

we're arriving 8/30, I knew it was coming but what are you going to do. We were there last Sept, Feb and June so I know we can do the masking thing, wish things were different but we will make the best of it. :cool1: :cool1:

I did it in May in Universal...as long as masks can be off outside of rides, it's doable. But if it had been mask up, all the time, I couldn't have done it. A few (rare) times, the heat with my motion sickness and the mask (which I didn't breathe my best through on adrenaline rides) beat my dramamine and made me leave a ride and need to sit down and breathe/sip water for 15 minutes without having to find a "rest area." And water in the heat - it was so needed after almost every ride, and walking and drinking is better than 6 people huddling in a corner and drinking and then walking...

Myself and 2 sons are scheduled to go to Disney at the end of August. Just saw this announcement today:

Starting July 30th, Disney World will require all guests, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks in an indoor locations. This includes upon entering and throughout all attractions, either indoor or outdoor.

Does this mean that we have to wear masks in outdoor lines as well? (Slinky Dog Dash for example) I'm just not sure we are willing to pay that much $ to stand in the August Florida heat with a mask on.

Assuming I'm reading the new directive correctly? I think we would still go if it just meant indoors because air conditioning makes a big difference, but in outdoor lines, I'm not so sure.

Do I need to call Disney to see about cancelling? I've already paid my full balance. Will I get that back? And I bought Boo Bash tickets. Ugh. I know I'm sounding like a whiney baby, but I'm so over wearing masks!
We were at WDW July 5th to July 12th. Wore masks almost everywhere, inside and out. Wasn’t that bad, and we're old (71). Of course, thats our experience. Do what you have to do.

Might be switching to universal, they have come out and stated that they aren’t gonna require masks indoors. Disney is going to be standing alone in their decision.
We’ve been taking DS6 to WDW, then Seaworld and Busch Gardens but perhaps he’ll have fun at Universal… As a complete AP-carrying DVC member, I’ve been loathe to try to learn about Universal but it does sound better and better!

When we went, masks were required "inside." For queues, that translated into the official start of the queue not the overflow. So, if there was a marquee for the ride, or the entry where you'd normally tap in with a FP, that's where you were to put your mask up. So, yes, if they keep it the same, there are some outside spots where you will have to put up your mask. We went just after they had changed from masking all the time to masking only indoors. They placed markers where to put your mask on and also had a CM standing there instructing people to mask up.

Went to MK in June the day masks no longer were required anywhere and heading back on Sunday. I'm not thrilled about wet masks in 94 degree weather, but it is what it is.

I feel for people who have never been before or people who have gone dozens of times expecting "how it was before". If the masks bother you (for heath, political, comfort, etc reasons) this indeed may not be the best time to go.

It's all about calibrating expectations. July/August is a crowded time in "normal times". I'm taking the view that I'm vaccinated and that the risk to my young daughter is low (and one I'm willing to take).

Thanks to everyone posting on how things are now, it's been helpful.
