I read the bad post about BCV and other bad posts about it full of complanits. MY family just join DVC and are home resort is BCV. I am so excited. I know about the no laundry service and the things you dont get as a DVC member. But will still magical like staying about a deluxe? I am use to those since the 10 or so trips were deluxe resorts. I in a way consider BCV a deluxe because its at BC and uses it facilities. I am just hoping this next trip will be as magical as the last 23 trips to WDW have been. I am also brining my friend (12) for the his first trip to WDW. I am so excited, and want this to magical for him. Lets hope my first trip BCV will be a nice one.

Hi, Donalds_best_pal. I would not worry. BCV (or any other DVC resort), although technically not classified as a 'deluxe' resort, is essentially a deluxe resort. They are classified as 'home away from home' resorts, which is kind of like a deluxe resort plus kitchen and living room.
As much as I love Disney, I understand that not every person will have a perfect trip every time. On balance, if your family just bought BCV you will have great vacations......although every trip may not be 'perfect'.

I wouldn't get too nervous. I hate to say it, but our first DVC stay at OKW was a bit of a let down. We rented a 2-bedroom that definitely needed some repairs. There were cracked and chip tiles in the main bathroom, broken shades, the chairs in the dining area had screws missing and were quite wobbly, broken refrigerator light, stains on the sofa and love seat, plus more. A call to maintenance fixed most of the problems. They also informed us that they were refurbishing all of the units and had only made it up to build 25. Of course we were in building 37. After saying all that though, we have stayed many times since the year we bought (96) and haven't had a problem since. The rooms have always been well maintained and clean. And we have never had a problem with a rude CM at any DVC resort.

I think that the resorts that add DVC to them have a bit of adjustment period. WL went through a bit of a spell when they first opened VWL. The maids are not used to cleaning anything more than a hotel room, maintenance can be a bit more involved than a normal hotel room, and the front desk has new issues with assigning rooms.

I'll be in a 1-bedroom at BCV in just 11 days and I'm not worried at all. If there is a problem (which I doubt) that we can't over look we will just call maintenance or houskeeping to take care of it.

When I bought into DVC in 1999 at BWV, there were alot of similiar complaints about BWV. I bought in anyway and have never been disappointed.

Matt....I wouldn't get too worried or upset. Of all the people who buy DVC, my guess is that extremely few are disappointed in their purchase.

IMHO, staying in a 1BR at DVC blows away the luxury hotel accommodations we used to get staying at a hotel like WL. The theming is every bit as detailed and authentic, and you still get all the amenities of BC property like the pools and restaurants.

I think that people are more prone to post bad experiences rather than good ones. Also remember that these boards represent only a fraction of all the DVC owners.

I'm confident that you will enjoy your DVC home completely!

Relax. From time to time on these boards a certain resort will seem to get many complaints. I once got myself very worried about a trip based on what I was reading here. When I got to OKW, everything was the same as it had been every other trip....fabulous. It's good that people express their opinions and share their experiences but take everything with a grain of salt and the confidence that 99.9% of guests have little or nothing to complain about.

Have a wonderful first trip "home".

p.s. I just saw the post you are talking about. I have no idea what is going on with that guest but it seems like they are having a string of bad luck and are providing a "live" play-by-play of events. It's funny that they keep saying how they wish they were back at the Poly. Not too long ago, there were a string of posts where the names could have been reversed. People were complaining about rude concierge CMs, terrible smells, loud guests, etc. at the Poly! The complaints seem to run in cycles hitting one resort or another. Don't be overly concerned.

We just bought into DVC last year at BCVs and had our first trip 'home' last month. We loved BCVs! Now I haven't stayed anywhere else (except HH for a couple nights before we went to BCV), so I can't compare it to other WDW resorts owned by DVC; but we were THRILLED with our stay (and we were in a studio).

DH wasn't quite as excited about joining DVC as I was, but after our trip last month, he said he was VERY glad we decided to become members. My girls asked me if we were 'rich' because only rich people could stay at a place like this (and we are very much NOT rich---I am a stay at home mom and we live on one income, we only bought 150 points because that is all we could afford, but with just 4 of us we can make those points stretch by using studios most of the time).

Anyway, the short walk to Epcot was wonderful! After the fireworks show we strolled back to our room with no feeling of being crowded or rushed. We all fell in love with Beaches and Cream (got to order the Kitchen Sink, even with the 4 of us working on it we still couldn't finish it). Storm Along Bay was a huge hit with the whole family. Actually we like the sandy beach side the best. Walking over to the Boardwalk was a lot of fun (and a very easy stroll). We pool hopped over to BW and tried out the clown slide. I wished we had had time for the character breakfast at Cape May's but just couldn't fit it into our schedule (but isn't that cool to have a character breakfast right there at your resort!).

So all I can say is that we are thrilled. DH wants to try out WL next, and so do I, but we also are all a bit anxious to return to BCV. I am thinking of doing a split trip between the two places (even though I hate the idea of packing up and moving). I figure we could visit Epcot and MGM while at BC and then move over the WL and visit Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom from there. That won't be until next year, so we have time to think over the whole move thing. But before staying at BCV we had said our next visit would be to WL only; but after visiting BC we all want to go back again! So we loved it.

Anyway, just thought I would share our experience so you see that not everyone is down on BCV. We thought it was SUPER and after visiting there we knew we had made the right decision to join DVC!

I agree with PamOKW. Whether it is a store, restaraunt, resort or whatever in or out of Disney you will find people who love it and people who hate it. We just bought BCV and will not go until next spring. We will go with an open mind and try to get assisstance if something goes wrong. Rude CM's are inexcuseable but I always just try to remember that anyone can have a bad day. I kind of enjoy trying to joke people out of their bad moods!!!

BCV is awesome- you will absolutely love it. I never thought any resort could approach WL and VWL for me, but BCV did. The entire place is beautiful and the CMs are just as great as at any Disney resort.

As was said above, take complaints with a grain of salt. Some people are chronic complainers. Remember that people are much more motivated to post their bad experiences than their good ones. If you post a message saying "What do you think of BCV" you will get 99% positive comments.

Don't believe everything you read. Some people are not only never happy, some people are just looking for attention.

Please tell your family they did not make a mistake. They made a wonderful decision they should be proud of instead of second guessing.

I would put your worries to rest.

We bought WLV last year sight unseen and before we could make our first trip home I started seeing some negative posts concerning that resort. I started second guessing myself, did I do the wrong thing, should I have checked this place out first.

Granny along with many other DVCers helped get me through this spell of doubt. Once I walked in that Lodge, saw that place, the few remaining doubts were gone.

Youve seen BC. I cant wait to stay in it for the first time. Im sure you wont be dissapointed.

For every negative thread you read on these boards, there are 1000 others that are positive that never get written. Take what you read with a grain of salt and go there and have fun. As PamOKW said, if you look around these forums enough and do some searches you will find absolutely horrible reviews of every resort on the property. With millions of guests ever year, Disney is bound to have a few who had less than stellar visits. However there are multitudes more who had awesome times, just never wrote about them.

Sometimes the 'magic' is where you make it. Relax and have fun!

When a person posts a thread stating to the effect "Had a great time, XXXX Resort was wonderful", that thread will get a handful of "glad you had a ...." responses and maybe a question or two, then by the next day it has slide off the screen into thread oblivion.

If however, the poster mentioned that on the 3rd day of the trip they sneezed and a CM failed to say "God Bless you", a nine page ordeal begins that normally ends with Doc Lock putting an end to it, (Doc,didn't mean that as an insult).

Don't be too concerned with what you read.

KNWVIKING hit the nail on the head. Positive posts slip off the front page, negative ones stay forever.

DVC would not be in business if this happened all the time.

And yes, people complain about imperfection all the time.

I try to post all the positive and negative aspects of my trips. Last trip we were at the Polynesian. We loved the room sizes, the balconies, the pool, the convenience of the monorail, Kona, 'Ohana. So many great things. My only negative was that I had booked these rooms 15 months in advance. I also faxed room preferences at the appropriate time (Although from reading DVC Nut's posts that may have been my mistake). Not to go into too much detail, but I was told I couldn't have my room preferences - and they were available - because they were being held for the cruise line guests checking in the next day. It made me feel like an inferior guest. I made the mistake of posting that and that thread went on for a couple of days over it.

So to end this long post, people seem to thrive on the negative. Don't listen to them. Go with an open mind and enjoy yourself.
