Hey everyone!
So life is about the get pretty hectic for me over the next couple of weeks before my trip so I'm going to try to get in a few posts this week. I'm finally heading off for my first summer holiday

next Monday with my DBFF and we are going to Fuerteventura (which is an island off the coast of Africa) sooo excited as I haven't been away in ages and it's a last hurrah before my friend goes back to work in her school (HAHAHAHAHA!! Oh the joys of mostly being self employed!) But long story slightly shorter, I will be off the grid for 8ish days and back 6 days before I finally get to go to WDW so please, don't mind me this week.
So where were we...ahhhh yes.....
Day 5 - Animal Kingdom and DTD!!
My DB taking a picture of Everest
If you hadn't already noticed....I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE animals (unless they have more than 6 legs because that's just not normal) so AK is usually one of my favourite days. I'm pretty much going to take it as a fairly relaxing day where I can potter around taking photos more than anything. Alot of people don't think that you can enjoy seeing animals in a zoo-like environment like AK after seeing them in the wild but personally I get joy out of seeing animals pretty much anywhere and zoos are one of my specialisms academically so it is always interesting to see them from that point of view. I do also have a minor issue with Disney removing the storyline on the Safari about the poaching. I've heard people mention is as just a storyline to spice it up but poaching is a very real problem and I think Disney was right to have it there in the first place even if it did upset some people! Plus it was nowhere near as horrific as what actually happens to those poor animals but that's just my two cents
But back to happy thoughts....
I'm very much looking forward to trying a Dole Whip for the first time (I never knew about these until joining Dis). I might even get it with a shot of rum because this is my first trip to the World being over 21 (I was 2 months shy my last trip) so why not?!?
I'm also looking forward to seeing FOLK in it's new home in Africa (why it wasn't there in the first place, I have no idea!) I already have the songs running through my head! I also have a FP for this so I will hopefully get a good seat to take pictures without annoying my neighbours.
I also have FPs for EE and Dinosaur which one day I will do with my eyes open the entire time or at least I'll look up the whole time. Pretty sure the last time I just looked at the floor for a good portion of it because personally I find it pretty scary but that's just me. Any other adults out there hate it when you find something scary and then the little kid next to you is like "Omg! That was awesome/boring/fun" and you just want to die of embarrassment at how much you screamed....anyone......nevermind.....
So AK has a couple of firsts for me that I'm determined to tick off:
1) Primeval Whirl - always wanted to do it but no one else ever has so I will do it this time
2)Dole Whip - see above
3) Conservation Station - for academic purposes
4) Not doing ITTBAB - OMG! This ride! Never fun! But it's being rehabbed during my trip so oh well....
I'm also going to avoid Finding Nemo - did it last time and was bored out of my mind. My Mum loved it but it's really just not for me (sorry!)
I'm also going to try to fit in Flights of Wonder and a few character M&G but we'll see how I go for time and energy. Oh yeah and Kali (nearly forgot that one) which reminds me that I need to buy a poncho at some point...hmm...
Us after Kali last time
Almost forgot!! The Gorilla's just had a baby that's now out and about!!! Love baby Gorillas!! Well love baby anything pretty much but baby primates are dead cute and so much fun!
So onto my evening.....
I'm hoping to get out of AK by 2.30/3pm to head back to the resort for a bit of a power nap and shower before I head to DTD for the evening.
I have a reservation for House of Blues at 7.15pm so I'd like to be at DTD by about 6.30 so I can just potter around the shops a bit and maybe, just maybe, do a little (emphasis on the word "little" shopping). My older bro has just rediscovered Star Wars
lego so I'd love to get him something to go with his little set and maybe get a new Christmas ornament for my parents.
I did look at going to a concert at HOB during my trip but the only two acts I had heard of were Lily Allen and Little Mix (who have now cancelled) so I didn't really want to see a UK act. I would have LOVED to see the Pretty Reckless but they are there a couple of days before I arrive
So after my dinner I have a ticket to see Cirque du Soleil La Nouba! I've never seen them before so I'm really excited for this! I know a few people who have gone and they say it's incredible so I can't wait to see it! Also managed to get some good seats through a special offer I found and so it was sooo much cheaper than seeing them on this side of the pond
So that's my post for today. Tune in next time for when things get a bit complicated.....
