I'm really upset

How sorry i am,sounded like she had a great life with you though. She knew what was coming and that's why she did'nt want to come inside.
I lost my cat-the one in my sig a couple of months ago-he was diagnosed on the Monday with cancer, and he went downhill so bad overnight that i had to have him put to sleep on the Tues.It hurts like hell,i can imagine what you're going thru-take care.x.

:grouphug: Oh my gosh. I am so sorry for you and your family. Please, please, please, try not to feel guilty. You didn't do anything wrong. :grouphug:

There are few things so painful as losing a beloved pet. Someone posted on the Dis not too long ago, in fact, when I lost Chelsea, If you want to see 15 years fly by, get a dog. I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry. I know how those holes feel - we lost our 11 1/2 year old Labrador Lewie very suddenly last spring, due to canine bloat.

She was in her favorite spot, and she knew she was well loved. It was not your fault. Please don't tear yourself up. She is at peace, and waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

 I am so sorry for your loss. Our dog died a few years ago and it was so hard. I was so sad, I don't think people realize just how much of an incredible loss and how painful it is until they go through it.

I don't know if it will bring you any comfort but usually when an animal knows (and they know) that they are about to pass, they will go off to be alone. Their love is so unconditional and I think they wait until they are alone because they don't want to see their people sad.

You gave your dog a wonderful life. She is in a good place and she passed at home, in her favorite spot.

I am truly sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

I am so sorry. It is such a tragic loss but the love you showed and received will stay with you forever.

 I'm so sorry for your loss. We also had a dog die unexpectedly at age 11. She also had some very minor stomach upset and we were going to take her to the vet on a Monday morning to check her out, but she died sometime on the Saturday night. Like your dog, she went outside and stayed there all night. I found her Easter Sunday morning. :(

I feel for you and your family, but I'm sure you were the best pet parents in the world for your wonderful dog. Big hugs to you and yours.

:grouphug:There are no words I can offer that will ease the pain. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It sounds like your four legged companion had a long and meaningful life. I hope as the pain of this loss subsides, you can take comfort in those wonderful years and memories.

 I'm so sorry for your loss. She was blessed to have such wonderful human parents such as you and your husband. For him to sleep by the door all night...she knew he was there and she was just where she wanted to be.

We have lost several pets and it is just so difficult. Give you kids a big hug for us.

I feel so sad, like there is a hole in my heart. Our dog just died. Well, she died in the middle night and we found her this morning around ~6:30 AM.

Our 14yo lab died this past spring and Sutton was pretty depressed for awhile. Before Kenzie died, we had already been considering a puppy; the kids had been begging and it was obvious Kenzie wasn't going to be around that much longer. So we got a puppy at the beginning of summer. Sutton perked up once we got the puppy, but then started suddenly not doing so hot. Not sick, just slowing down (no more 3 mile walks) and going very gray.

Then she suddenly became ill and started losing hair. Of course, we immediately took her to the vet. She had an infection was put on medication. The infection cleared right up. And because of her age, to be on the safe side, they ran every test under the sun. This was just 3 weeks ago.

When we took her to the vet in March, it was a new vet in the office, and he was floored at how old she was (11 years) because she was in such great shape all around. Looked young, acted young, very healthy. He asked me if the age was right. I told him she was a rescue and really could be older. When we got her, they told us she was a year. When I took her to the vet for the first time, he said anywhere between 1 year and 3 years. She just always seemed so young I counted her at one year and upped her age on her adoption date.

Anyhow, last night she got sick. Dogs can get sick and I was going to take her to the vet this morning at 9 when they opened. She was throwing up every so often. She wanted to go outside and stay; she did not want to come in. DH said he came into the house at 1 or 2 AM and said he slept by the door so he would hear her when she wanted in. He woke up this morning and realized she never wanted to come in. He went outside, and in her favorite spot to lay in the yard, she was dead.

I just feel so bad for not taking her to the emergency vet. I just didn't think it was an emergency. This seemed to come out of nowhere. I really thought she'd be around 2-3 more years. And the kids are devastated. They still hadn't gotten over the death of our other lab.

I just had to get this out somewhere.

I am so sorry for your loss. That's how we lost our Malamute two years ago, lying in his fav spot, forever asleep. I let him out for his morning potty duty and he never wanted back in, it wasn't 'til later that I found out why (he'd been out for a long time).

Hug your kids, let them talk it out. Cry together. Again, I'm so sorry for the double loss. :sad1: Don't blame yourself.
