however, is there another townhouse community that offers more in the way of a community pool, water features, slide, game room etc. that would be more suited for a 12 and 10 year old boy?

With older teens than yours in tow, we looked long and hard at this also. Honestly the only townhome/villa resort with a nicer pool complex we found was Ginn Reunion which has a lazy river as well but was quite a bit more expensive. That said I don't think Ginn's atmosphere would be as appropriate for tweens. WH has a very nice pool w/slide, tennis, pool tables, ping pong, etc. Our compromise is to hit Typhoon Lagoon for an early half-day at least once during our stay. Other than that we'll just have to "rough it" with the slide at the WH pool, and the private pool and pool table at our villa. ;)

My sons were 16 and 13 when last we stayed at Windsor Hills and they both loved it there. I doubt you'd find any complex with more things for kids to do. They especially loved the movie theater. They "rented" the original Star Wars trilogy on three different nights while we were there as they had never seen the originals on a big screen. In addition to the great pool, slide, spa, theater, pool tables, video games, and ping pong in the clubhouse area there's also another area with a putting green, basketball, tennis and volleyball. Other than maybe adding mini golf, I honestly don't know what else they could add at this complex. It's great!

We are hoping to book a villa at windsor hills, I am interested to know how you went about hiring the movie theater and how much did it cost?
thanks

Peanut, while you're waiting for figment to answer I can tell you that there is no cost to renting the movie theatre. I believe you just go to the clubhouse store and pick out the movie that you want to see and set up a time when no one else is using the theatre. We've stayed at WH twice but never used the theatre but that's my understanding of how it works. You don't have to pay for any of the activities while you're there. You may have to leave a deposit if you use any equipment and then get your money back when you return it.
When you first arrive you have to go to the clubhouse office with your rental confirmation sheet and get a coded card to use for the pool, clubhouse and playground areas. It costs $6. but you get that back when you return the card at the end of your stay. It is a very nice resort, we're going back with whole family in Nov.

You hit the nail on the head! The movie theater is completely free, so are the movie rentals, just check in the sundry shop. They have 100s of movies you can watch on the big screen, most are PG rated at most by the way.

One thing to be aware of, you cannot check their movies out and take them "home" with you....so if you would like a few movies to watch in your home while there, you might bring a few along (DVDs).

Thanks for having my back, you two! As mentioned, there is no charge for the movies, which is why I posted rented in quotes in my post above. You just check the book in the sundry shop for available times, tell the attendant what film you'd like them to run and what time you'd like it shown. I believe the earliest time for movie showings is 10:00 a.m. The latest time is 7:00 p.m.; that I know for sure because that's the time my boys picked each night. This way the films will be finished by 9:30 p.m. at the latest to be fair to the clubhouse staff.

It's really a terrific WH perk!

Thanks for the info, I was already sold on WH, but that is a added bonus, I can see it being fantastic for DH.

Windsor Palms also has a movie theatre, clubhouse, ping pong etc. Still close to Disney and homes tend to be a bit cheaper than WH.

I have found that kids just love having the pool outside the back of the home and would rather stay there than go to the parks!
