As some of you know DH and I were trying for a baby, and I only came off the pill in themiddle of January, and guess what I found out yesterday that I am six weeks pregnant!!!!

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday, i can't believe that it has happened so quickly! I think DH is still in shock. I have to wait 6 weeks for a dating scan when they can tell me for sure how far ahead I am etc. But for now I have a date of the 22nd October!

Any advise would be much appreciated on how to cope with nausea! I feel awful most of the time!! And the tiredness - what is this all about, I think I could flake out most of the time!

Can't offer any advice just wanted to say congrats.

Congratulations - and enjoy your pregnancy, it will go so quickly.
Tiredness is completely normal, if you feel it's excessive you could have a low iron count but soon they will take blood tests and if your iron is low then you'll be given some tablets. I had them with both of my pregnancies. Re nausea, I was never actually sick (lucky I know!) but felt sick a lot of the time and I found ginger really helped - just a ginger biscuit when that feeling comes over you should help.
I'm sure there a lot of people better qualified than me here to give advice. Good luck,
Joanne

Congratulations!

Have you asked your GP / midwife about the nausea? It's a long time since I was pregnant but I seem to remember eating a couple of Rich Tea biscuits before getting out of bed helped. Other people have recommended dry toast, so I think anything plain to line an empty stomach would probably do the same.

Don't worry, the tiredness will only last until DD/DS is about 18 (and old enough to drive him/herself home from late nights out)! ;)

Woo Hoo!

Way to go :cool1:

Huge congratulations to you and your husband....keep us posted during the next 8 months.

Congratulations Gem :cloud9:

Mmmm morning sickness, there is nothing quite like that feeling is there lol

As for the tiredness, just rest and take a nap whenever is practical! It will settle down, it's all those hormones!!!!!!

Congratulations again to both of you.

 Congratulations

Lovely news, Sorry your suffering the dreaded nausea, there isnt much you can take, I have heard sickness bands help, along with ginger biscuits, and plain biscuits, take your time getting out of bed in a morning, dont rush, etc.
Also with the tiredness,I was awful, fit in naps whenever you can,its normal to feel quite tired, but if you get concerned it would be a good idea to pop into see your midwife, and ask them,as it could be Iron related.

Your due around the time my Brother and his Wife are due she is due 17th October.

Congrats!!

Wonder if we can start a DIS Pregnancy Board? :teeth:

Congratulations :)

There is a thread on the US Community Board for Pregnant DISer's.

Many congratulations!! :thewave:

As Joanne UK said - enjoy your pregnancy, especially as you have no other little darlings clamouring for your attention and wearing you out!! You should feel better after about three months, and then you can really make the most of your special status!! But for now, rest as much as possible and try to eat healthily too.

Can't really help with the morning sickness - I was really lucky both times on that score. But I think I've read some where that travel bands can be quite effective - anythings worth a try!

Thats great news, and amazing its happened so quickly....it took us nearly 3 years after my wife came off the pill, we even got onto the IVF waiting list before things just happened naturaly.

congratulations and take care of your self :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Tron - I know i couldn't believe it was so quick myself, so much that I did two tests to be sure - My mom thinks I am mad! I think DH is dissapointed that it happened so soon I think he wanted to practice more - typical bloke!

Ali - Fraggle is looking forward to being a big brother!! The best part about it is that I am not allowed to clean out his tray anymore so he has two now and DH has to change them when he comes home!! :cool1: Fraggs is very picky and will only use his tray once, then he places a piece of clean newspaper from the pile next to his tray on top of the dirty litter and leaves it until it is cleaned out!! :rotfl2: we have got him well trained!!!!
