I'm pondering over hotels - any advice?

I was recently given the go-ahead to start planning a girls only trip to Disneyland for the end of September. I am beyond excited and this will be our third girls only trip! The first trip there were four of us and we stayed in a Standard 2 Queen room at the Candy Cane Inn. It was a great experience and we loved the hotel - the great complimentary breakfast and the free parking were great! The second trip there were 6 of us and we stayed at the Ramada Maingate in 2 Standard 2 Queen rooms. We found the Ramada to be dirty and, unless something drastic has changed, will probably not be considering staying there again.

Our upcoming trip will be 5 or 6 people. I thought it might be a good idea to get a suite this time so that we could save some money on hotel rooms by splitting the cost of one slightly more expensive room rather than splitting the cost of 2 regular rooms. I originally found the suites at the Desert Inn & Suites and was pleased with the price of the various suites - they have several options and the price of each was great! However, I've read mixed reviews about this hotel and am starting to wonder if this will actually be a good place to stay (and maybe why the prices are as low as they are?). We'd love to stay at the Candy Cane Inn again, but with more than 4 people, we'd need two rooms and that really would be more than we'd like to spend on hotel (certainly not out of the question though!). I've also considered the Best Western Park Place Inn, Best Western Anaheim Inn, and the Tropicana Inn & Suites.

Do you have any advice? Comments? We're staying for 3 nights and staying on Harbor close to the parks is a must. Complimentary breakfast would be ideal but does not make-or-break a hotel for us. Free parking would also be ideal, but I realize that a lot of hotels are charging for parking now, so it really just is what it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In general I would group all of thse hotels together as being the same, style and quality wise.

I would still consider two rooms, just for the extra bathroom.

If you are ok with a semi long walk look at the Anabella hotel. Not a bad walk, may not like it twice a day, but nice rooms.

As far as the Ramada Maingate, I think it depends on when you trip was. A little more than two years ago the rehabed some rooms a little over a year ago the rest of the rooms. So it could be a different story now, but in a year or two of use rooms loose the newness.

Congrats on your trip!

I would strongly recommend Hojo only because we have stayed there time and time again and they are wonderful and the short walk is easy. They don't have the "hotel tax" or parking fees, they have an on-site store, their reception is super helpful and it is a very relaxing property.:thumbsup2

We have been 7 times and always had clean rooms and great service:goodvibes

Also, if you purchase the entertainment book you can get the ET rate for super cheap and you can get more bang out of your buck! :)

Here's my two cents for what it's worth...Anaheim Plaza. I have a family of 6 and love love having the extra bathroom (lived with one bathroom for 3 years, ugh don't recommend it!) They have a family suite, 4 queens, 2 bathrooms, tons of room (it's an older hotel) and it's only 4-5 minutes away from the maingates. They offer a buffet (20% off when you stay there) and the best part $118 (Septembers rate)!!!! www.anaheimplazahotel.com check them out.

Are you thinking of sharing beds? You could look at the Park Vue Inn. It has 3 Q bed rooms, is right across the street, has a free breakfast, and a complimentary light dinner meal too. You might want to call. There has been some mixed reviews about the carpet but lots of great reviews recently. They are supposed to be replacing the carpet but I don't know when that is happening.

Thanks for your input, everyone! I started looking at Hojo's and the Park Vue today. I'll have to look into getting an entertainment book.

As for the Anaheim Plaza, I don't know how I missed that one! It seems like I looked at every single other Good Neighbor hotel except that one! The rate seems great and the extra bathroom would be fantastic as there will be 5-6 girls. That was actually one of my concerns about getting a regular suite, only having one bathroom for all 6 of us to share would be a little tight!

I think I'll have to consult with the other Disney obsessor in the group and see what she says.

Thank you so much!

I know this makes me sound really lame (figuratively and literally :lmao:), but we're just back yesterday and if I go again I'll definitely be staying at either the Park Vue or the BW Park Place. Even the extra 1/2 block to the Camelot was PAINFUL at the end of an exhausting 12 hours in the park. I would have been in tears if we'd had to tromp all the way back to HoJo.

FWIW, all the hotels across the street on Harbor look to be roughly equal from the outside. Quite tidy and well kept; I doubt you'd have much of a problem at any of them. Have a good time!

So after some discussion with a couple other people in the group that is going, I think we've narrowed it down to (in no particular order):

Anaheim Plaza Inn - Family Suite which has 4 queens, 2 full bathrooms (BIG plus with 6 females!)
Best Western Park Place Inn - Mini Suite which has 2 queens and a sleeper sofa
Desert Inn & Suites - Parlor Family Suite C2 which has 4 queens, 2 full bathrooms
Park Vue Inn - two connecting standard rooms (but priced as a "suite") so it would have 4 queens and 2 full bathrooms (The only thing I'm concerned about here is the cleanliness of the carpet, I've heard bad things!)

What do you think? Opinions? We're obviously not looking for luxury, just a nice, clean place to sleep at night.

OK out of your list here I would take BWPP out. 6 females+1 bathroom= disaster :scared1:.

What other perks did the others have? Somewhere on the boards someone said the carpet situation was resolved, hopefully.

My choice would be Anaheim Plaza, but hey...I'm baised!! I suggested it in the first place :lmao:

We have reservations for this June at BWPPI. I've looked at a lot of pictures of the mini suite room, since this is the type of room we've reserved. I think it would be an awfully tight fit for 5 or 6 women...and only one bathroom! I would pick Park Vue...I've heard they are getting new carpet. And they have breakfast and light dinner food. Plus two bathrooms! And you can't get any closer.

Have a great girls trip...sounds like fun!

I actually have "liked" the park vue's Facebook page and they just showed photos of the new carpet. I asked if the had an expected completion date and they said June. Hope that helps. If you use FB consider looking them up.

I'd do the park vue. I'm sure you could make use of the breakfast, social hour with light dinner fare and the bottle of wine in the gift bastket.

We stayed at BWPPI last Summer in a mini suite. It's a 2 queen room with a tiny couch. two adults would be very uncomfortable on that thing.
6 ladies with 1 bathroom is a bad idea.

I would go with Park Vue Inn, 2 bathrooms with the best location.

I would agree one bathroom at BWPPI isn't enough for 6. With DD gs trip we had one mini-suite and one regular room with a rollaway. Getting everyone showered in the morning was impossible after a midnight park close. Since everyone in the regular had already showered or wasn't going to, we had girls from the other room showering in ours.

We stayed at the Park Vue in March and loved it! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It is super convienient and has free parking and breakfast! Best part is it is soooooooo close to the parks!!! We had a standard room as there were only 4 of us, but it was huge and clean!

We stayed at the Park Vue a couple months ago in a Queen/Bunk and we loved it! Our room was very clean and the carpet was good.

Ooohhhh, thanks for the pictures!

Factoring in location, price, room choice, and amenities (breakfast, parking, etc.) we have decided to stay at the Park Vue, now we're just figuring out exactly when in September we're going. Thank you all so much for your input!!

Great! I hope you like it. Just a mention, September is a great time to go for low crowds but of course you have some cons with shorter hours and closed rides. I might recommend immediately on/after Labor Day since many schools will be back in session by then and many parents will not want to skip the first week or so of school. There is an unofficial homeschooling event on Sept 14th and that may draw some extra families but I don't know how much that will impact crowds. If you want to experience Halloween DLR then go towards the end of Sept (they will launch the season then) but be prepared for increased crowds.

Your welcome, I'm still learning how to do the pictures on here. Anyway have a Great time, I'm sure you'll like the Park Vue!:thumbsup2
