I forgot to say in my pre-trip/Day 1 report who we are.

tc: 42 year old lover of all things Disney
Stephen: same age, my better half for 23 years, and loves Disney, but not quite as much as I do.

Last night I watched the weather to see what Tropical Storm Henri has in store for us. It did not look good.

Saturday morning we woke up to torrential rain at 7:00. I watched it from my balcony. We don't really get that kind of rain in Colorado. We got ready and ate breakfast in the room. I had Grape Nuts (with milk we bought in the Beach Club store last night) and Stephen had Pop-tarts. We always pack breakfast (Grape-nuts, Pop-tarts and egg bagels) and snacks (cheese and crackers, granola bars, jerky) because I have to eat every two hours, so this saves us a little money.

This was my first full day at WDW, and I was not about to let a little storm stand in my way. So, we stuff the pockets of Stephen's shorts (he always wears shorts with big cargo pockets) with ponchos and snack, I grabbed the umbrella, and we headed out at about 8:45. We were headed to Epcot today. As we stepped out, I braced myself for winds and rain, and it was merely sprinkling. What happened to the storm? The sun was peeking out. It may be a nice day afterall.

We walked to the International Gateway and proceeded to enter using our APs that we had used the night before at MGM and in January and last September. I say all this, because, after inserting our passes into the machine, the CM told us they were expired. I assured her they don't expire until 9/16/03, and showed her the back. She said that they must have the wrong date on the magnetic strip, and we'd have to walk over to Guest Services to get them fixed. We did, and were told there was nothing wrong. As we were standing there, the original CM came up and apologized for the mistake. The computers went down just before we tried to enter, and they did not realize it. Crisis averted. I was still feeling the effects of Thursday and was sure my APs were expired and we'd have to buy new park tickets. I was very relieved.

Anyway, on with the day. We leisurely walked through the UK and Canada on our way to Future World. It's so peaceful coming in this way at opening. We did Test Track, a walk on. Then we headed over to Mission: Space. I was nervous. I don't usually get sick on rides, but I'd read so much, and, well, considering the last few days, I figured I'd get sick. Rode it, loved it. It is very intense, but fun. We played the games at the end. We got to be astronauts and mission controllers on the game where everyone plays. We also liked the game where you save your co-worker from the dust storm. Then we sent some video e-mail and headed out. It was really fun, a great addition to FW. Then we headed to Innoventions. The only thing I wanted to do here was see the House of the Future. We had to wait about 5 minutes, then got our tour. It's pretty cool. I love the closet you can hang dry your clothes in. Very nice.

It's about 11:30 and we are hungry. We had eaten at Le Cellier in January and really liked it, so decided to head over there. Got in about 11:45 with no wait. We had the cheddar soup for starters (shared one). It was amazing, especially with the pretzel bread. Stephen got the burger, and I got a steak sandwich. So good, I love this place. Our server was nice and very attentive. She asked how we were enjoying our trip, and we said we were. Then somehow we ended up telling her about Kimmi's car, no cherry and no beaver tails. She asked us if we wanted dessert, and we both said we were full. She then returned with the recipe for the cheddar cheese soup and a free chocolate mousse, to make up for no beaver tails. It was so goodand cute. It really looked like a moose. Believe it or not, we ate it all. She said that it was funny, because every free dessert gets eaten, even when you are too full. It was a very nice break.

We walked around World Showcase for awhile, but relaxing, and I started feeling very sick. I must eat every 2 hours, but it's a bad thing if I overeat. My stomach can't hold that much food. We decided to head back to BCV for a rest. By the time we got back, I was miserable. I won't go into detail, but lunch did not last long in my stomach, then I napped for two hours. I woke up at 3 feeling much better, and starving. I grabbed an egg bagel, and we headed back out.

We went back to Epcot, turning right at the International Gateway towards France. I was still a little weak, so we just wandered. Stephen decided tangerine Kaki Gori's were pretty good, so he decided to get one. Amazingly, cherry was back on the menu. Things are looking up! We enjoyed all the countries, loved the perfume Laila in Norway, looked through the Stave church. When we entered the church, it was empty. We took our time reading everything. Pretty soon it was packed in there. We wondered why, until we left. We had missed a heck of a rain storm, puddles everywhere, but the sun was shining now. We still hadn't put on our ponchos. Headed to FW and rode Spaceship Earth, checked out new flavors in Ice Station Cool. Actually, I thought there were new flavors, but they just took a bunch of flavors out. We then decided to head to MGM for Fantasmic.

It takes me awhile to bounce back after, what Stephen calls, "an attack", so we took the boat to MGM. Got a turkey leg and a coke and got a seat one section left of Mickey (I don't remember what it was called.) Stephen made friends with kids behind him while I was in the bathroom. I enjoyed my turkey leg (makes Stephen sick just to smell it) and put the leftovers in a ziploc baggie I carry with me for leftovers. Fantasmic was as great as usual.

We waited for the crowds to leave, and then leisurely walked back. We beat the boat that was loading. Stephen got a pizza from the Spoodles take-out window, a vanilla malt from Beaches and Cream and we were back in our room by 11:00.

Despite getting sick, this was a great day. Relaxing and enjoyable. We never did get rained on, and it didn't get too hot.

Stayed tuned for tomorrow as we head to the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK. Looks like nothing bad really happened today, let's see what tomorrow brings.
