I'm not American but...

It does impact my vote but not in the way you'd think. I do not believe the rest of the world has America's best interests at heart. In fact, I feel most of the world would enjoy seeing us struggle. I have this nagging feling that the world wants to see America fall. Seeing that most of the world wants Obama cements my decision that John McCain is the man for the job. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

GO MCCAIN!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I know a lot of British soldiers who fought with the Americans in Afghanistan and Iraq, willing to sacrifice their lives for us, that would take great offence to some of the things you state about the world wants to see the USA fall.

The next president of America is for you guys to choose but it does have an impact on the world as people look to you guys for leadership .

Please dont feel the world hates you as most people i know enjoy holidaying in the USA , enjoy American movies , American style and the we can achieve attitude and friendlyness of your people.

Thanks most of all for WDW .

I have not read all this thread and if this point has been raised already i apoligise.

Paul.

Back to the OP question. I find it interesting to hear what people from other countries think about this election. It doesn't really affect my vote, because well they don't live here. People can keep fighting about whether people in other countries want a certain candidate to win for the benefit or fall of the USA. I'm sure they are both right some of the time! We live in a global world where what happens here can impact the rest of the world. Why wouldn't people outside of the US have an interest in this election?

They can have all the interest they want, the op questioned if their thoughts had any impact on who we would vote for. The answer to me is a resounding no.

I have actually....but I don't think they're going to factor the same way young first-time voters will! :thumbsup2

Young first time voters aren't exactly reliable. The Democrats have counted on them every election and they are always let down. PUMAs, on the other hand, will most certainly go out and vote.

Paul, your post was lovely :goodvibes

I have the utmost respect and gratitude for the way the British have helped in the War on Terror. I have had wonderful experiences with British people. those who I've met at Disney World, here in the DIS, and through the military (my husband is Air Force) have all impressed me. I feel a definite kinship with the British. It is my goal to someday make it across the big pond and visit there. I see you're from Scotland. My grandfather immigrated from Scotland when he was a boy. I have a special interest in visiting there because of that heritage.

I do not believe our true allies want to see America fail. This is a message board. You do need to generalize otherwise your posts will be so long nobody will want to read them. So, that's what I do. Posts do not alway reflect our full opinions, just the general idea of them. :)

I'm counting on the fact that this time is different...the feel is different and I think it's the young, progressive youth vote that will make all the difference! Wouldn't that just be something! :cool1: I think they're tired of old-style politics and they want good change....just the thought of McCain overturning Roe vs Wade is enough to make most young women shake in their shoes!

McCain can not overturn Roe v Wade, it's not in his job discription.

Personally, I would rather read a longer post than have someone make some sweeping generalization that annoys and frustrates the people involved. JMHO though...

I'm not stupid Master Mason...I do know that McCain/Palin will appoint Supreme Court Justices that fit their mindset and have made no bones about the fact that they would be happy to let each state make that decision. For me, that alone would be a dealbreaker! JMHO and thankfully is the opinion of the younger generation! :thumbsup2

Well, I have a life. I don't have time to post my full detailed opinion on every subject nor do I have time to read posts that are 5 paragraphs long to explain each posters' every thought.

:lmao: That's what they said in 2000 and in 2004. I specifically remember them calling the young vote the "democrats secret weapon." I think they need a new strategy. Wait, on second thought, no they don't. Keep it up! It's really working. ;)

Well, my suggestion would then be to limit your posting to when you have time to be a little more specific rather than lumping whole groups of people as well as countries into one big generalization....it's insulting and I doubt you would appreciate it if the shoe were on the other foot...

All I can say is I hope you're wrong this time....

My suggestion is that if you don't like my posts, put me on ignore. :thumbsup2

I don't know what you mean here at the end? Did Obama campaign outside the US? If so then I would find that absurd and agree with you.

Sorry if I seemed abrupt when I suggested you look it up on google, I really was elbow deep in apple crisp and couldn't add links at the time. Now I can. Here are two sources but there are many.

http://www.fff.org/comment/com0808c.asp

"Ten-year-old girls at a Hannah Montana concert had nothing on our news media as they took in Barack Obama’s July trip to benighted foreign lands. Obama World Tour 2008 T-shirts were, figuratively speaking, on the backs of practically everyone in his press entourage."

http://www.contactomagazine.com/articles/obamainberlinmccainhome0708.htm

"Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama spoke before tens of thousands of people in the German capital of Berlin on July 23, the most dramatic moment yet in his tour of the Middle East and Europe. Obama continues his European tour in Paris on July 24 . His international trip has received worldwide attention and left his Republican opponent, Senator John McCain, searching for ways to get his message out.

Senator Obama's speech had all the trappings of a presidential address, except for the fact that Obama won't even become the official Democratic nominee for president until next month.

"People of Berlin, people of the world," said Barack Obama. "This is our moment. This is our time.""

This treat has been a great Eye-opener for me.

Why should we hate you ? It makes me so sad to read all this.

I always found the Americans a joy to talk to and very interested in our lives as we are in theirs.

We do respect you and yes in every country you have a few ro…. apples in the basket but does that make the whole basket ro….. ????

The Dutch soldiers fight with you to. The son of my best friend is just back from Afghanistan.

If you ever come to visit my country please visit Margraten ore this War Memorial.
Here you can experience how we still pay respect to those who fought and died for our freedom.

Many graves are adopted by Dutch people and they take care of them like it was a family member.
Please don’t judge us just from hear saying .

Good heavens!! Who told you McCain was going to overturn Roe vs Wade? How long have we had a conservative court? I'm pro-life and don't care for Roe vs Wade....but, it's not going anywhere. That's a scare tactic from the left.

PS I think you are also exaggerating..."most young women shake in their shoes?" I doubt it.

McCain stated publicly that he will overturn Roe vs Wade and leave the decision up to each individual state! It will be overturned if McCain wins because he will be able to appoint Supreme Court Justices that lean waaaaaaay right. I haven't been living in an igloo up here...and it's not a scare tactic from the left...the media has covered this issue quite a bit. It would be a sad day indeed if the right of women to choose was in anyway altered. McCain's plan is to do that... :sad2:

And your response doesn't surprise me one bit considering you are a pro-life supporter...

Please don't think that all Americans are reflected by the isolationist views by some in this thread. Most Americans understand that we are part of a Great Global Family. And despite losing some respect in the world (deservedly I might add), many of us here understand that we're still a very important player on the global stage and that we have a responsibility to elect someone who will help us regain our footing and place of importance on the world stage.

As a moderate Republican, I recognize just how important this election is....and I'll be heading out in about 15 minutes to elect our next President.

Barack Obama! Let the healing begin.
