Hi everyone...I've been reading this board for quite some time now, and finally have a legitimate reason to join! I recently got engaged and am in the works of planning my dream Disney Wedding! The potential date is just under two years away, and I have a billion questions that, of course, I'm way too anxious to wait until I get my wedding planner. If any of you could be of help, it is greatly appreciated! Here goes...

As of now, I'm looking at around 220(+) guests, and I have my eye on the Atlantic Dance Hall. On the Disney Wedding Website, it states that it can hold 170 people, however some tables can be added. Does anyone know the max number it can hold with the extra tables?

As you can tell, we will be hosting a HUGE rehersal dinner/welcome party. Any ideas on what places can take that many people? And how early can I book this?

I've already decided I want the mini-individual cakes for my guests (as favors). Does anyone know approximately how big they are?...I'm trying to find the right size box to put them in!

How soon can you plan your first planning session after you officially have a date? And generally, how many planning sessions do you have?

Sorry for so many questions...I'm just so excited to start figuring all this out! Thanks in advance!!

Hi

I dont know any of the answers to your questions(but someone will)

I just wanted to say WELCOME & Congrats!!!!

Cant wait to hear all the details...make sure you start a PJ!!:goodvibes

First off,
WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

As you can tell, we will be hosting a HUGE rehersal dinner/welcome party. Any ideas on what places can take that many people? And how early can I book this? Well, I guess that depends on what you are doing. I would imagine if you are renting a place and having it catered, it would be 8 months or 1 year depending on the location. I am not sure if you can use a restaurant with your size of group. You might be able to do a buyout of a restaurant though. You could possibly arrange that a year out, but not sure.

How soon can you plan your first planning session after you officially have a date? And generally, how many planning sessions do you have? You could do a site inspection before a contract is signed, I think. The actual planning of the flowers, food, linens, etc.; that is after the contract is signed and usually between 4-6 months before the wedding.

Sorry I can't help with the rest of your questions. Good Luck with all the planning, and I look forward to reading all about it.

CONGRATS!!!

I am new to the Wedding boards so I cannot be of much help but so far the amazing people here have been able to answer all my questions!

Congrats again and welcome!

I appreciate your answers!! Thanks for the welcome! :)

Congratulations on your engagement and welcome!

We used Atlantic Dance Hall for our reception, but I couldn't tell you how many people could fit, as we only had 76 guests. I imagine with 220 it would get quite crowded in there, and I would worry about how much space you would have for dancing. It is a fabulous location for a reception though (but I am biased :))

I can't wait to see how your plans develop!

Welcome to the boards! Are u a student at WVU? Just wondering because DF and I are both students at WVU :goodvibes

One option for a rehearsal dinner/welcome party would be an illuminations dessert party. Depending on how many people you will have. Italy Isola is a large location. You could also do a buyout of a waterpark during the night. It gets a little pricey because you have to do an entertainment package. If you check out the info for Disney's convention dept there are lot's of things there. You can't book anything until 1 year out. And some things have to wait until 8 months out. Make sure you check out disneyweddings.com for more info on everything.

Welcome to the boards!!! And CONGRATS!!

220 people?? Wow, thats a lot of people to party in Disney with you! yaya!

I can't really help with your questions, but I wanted to welcome you.

Maggie

Thanks Maggie! Yes it IS a lot! The last time we counted we were up to 216 (I just rounded to 220)...and then today just added 2 more families! I wouldnt be surprised if we didn't get up to 250 when all is said and done. I cant wait!

Yikes...I'm not sure where else to have it. I've considered the American Rotunda or possibly just one of the ball rooms in the boardwalk or grand floridian..I cant decide. I really love the Atlantic Dance Hall though! Thanks!

My DF is from Charleston and in med school. I'm from northern VA and in dental school. Enjoy your senior year :goodvibes

First off, Congrats!

Second, have you really talked to all 220 people? Before I was planning a Disney wedding, I had about 200 people that were going to be invited. Now only my Fiance's parents and sister are coming. I was just wondering if all these people have said they will come? because it's likely that you will only get about 50% of the people you invite.

Since we were so selective in the invites, we know the majority of these people would come. Approximately 120 guests are family that we know are all definites. There will be 6 (possibly 8) bridesmaids, 6 (possibly 8) groomsman, 2 flowergirls and 2 ringbearers...and most of the their families. Our friends not in the wedding say they would come (as of now) but obviously, job depending, thats not 100%. The rest are family friends, who we would expect to come. Its still two years away, so anything can happen. But yes, I expect atleast 200 to show. We've already figure out where to put up all the people we are able to. With my moms DVC points, we have 8 2 bedroom units (which sleep 8) and 8 studios. This surprisingly got in ALL of the family members (mine AND his!), who will be staying at the boardwalk. My mom, generously enough, is putting up all of the bridal party and our friends (14 rooms currently) at the All-Star or somewhere with less expensive rates. She offered to put my fiance and I and the bridal party at the boardwalk with the families, but we'd rather stay with all of our friends!! :) The rest of the people on the list will choose where to stay, and pay their way.

WOW! Congrats, and WAY TO GO MOM!

Good luck with reception places, because once you find one there will be some serious dancing and partying! How fun!

Oh my gosh I know! We just got back a couple of weeks ago from Disney where my mom (I really cant stress enough HOW amazing she is!) threw me the BEST 21st birthday surprise party! She told me we had dinner reservations at 6:15 at Wolfgang Pucks..but of course that was all made up. I had got a message earlier in the day saying that the "Year of a Million Dreams" selected me to receive some free passes to Pleasure Island for my 21st birthday. When I went to pick them up, to my amazement, she had really rented out the BET soundstage on Pleasure Island and surprised me with an awesome party and 85 friends and family members! Knowing how much fun that night was, I cant imagine what my wedding will be like!!! If anyone has MySpace...they can go here
index.cfm
and look at my party pictures!!
