Hi, I just got the Disney Visa card last month. We're going to WDW later this month. I would usually hook up my AmEx card to our MBs but just wondering if there is any advantage to using the Disney Visa card while in the world.

Thanks so much,

Karen :)

There is a list of benefits online for WDW.

Even if you just take the card with you to get the free 5 x 7 at Epcot, and don't charge anything to it, the card is worth taking along. :goodvibes

You get 10% off purchases of $50 or more at gift shops. Some tours also give a discount with DV.

Am I correct in assuming though that you have to have the physical card with you and use it for gift shop discount and dining discount (like Biergarten)?

I am not sure any of the discounts or free picture work unless you have the actual card--not a Magic Band tied to the card.

That is my understanding. You have to show the card.

Not only do you have to show the card, you also have to use it for the purchase. You cannot show the card and pay cash, tap with your MB or swipe a different CC.

Do you get the 10% off if you use your rewards card? I'm taking my Visa, but want to use all the money on my rewards card first.

Yes, I should have said you have to charge to that card to get the discount. :thumbsup2 I meant it had to be in-hand and used.

I have ALWAYS been told I had to use the actual card (and yes I did try to show the card and use the rewards card). I seem to recall someone at one of the stores telling me I could do that, but have never actually been able to.

Thanks everyone,
Thinking I might just continue to use my AmEx and get JetBlue points.
