I'm losing it...

...and I don't mean weight! I am losing my mind and my willpower. It has been over 100 degrees each day for over a week now with the night time temps in the low 90's and I am turning into someone I don't want to be. There is little air conditioning in Italy and the high heat is turning me into a short-tempered lunatic. I feel like I am constantly reaching into the freezer for a treat, I am yelling at my DS, I'm arguing with DH, I am not sleeping well and I have stopped journaling and counting points. The only thing I am doing besides sweating all of the time is sticking with my weekly workouts. This is the hottest summer in europe in a century and there is no relief in site and I feel like I won't make it through. I am sorry to be dumping, but I am frustrated and just need to whinnnnneee!
 
We've been seeing the news reports on the weather in Europe. Even though it's humid in Hawaii, it's still only in the 80's.

I hope things cool down soon, hang in there! (As for the freezer treats, maybe you could make some juice pops or something?)
 
Some PD coming your way for a nice cool down soon!! With heat like that, I'm sure you're not the only one who feels grumpy! Just hang in there, and find a cool spot where and when you can! Maybe the posotove thing to come out of this will be that with all the sweating, you will lose extra weight!!
 

I agree that you should make some of your own frozen treats! How about some sugar free drink mix frozen so that it is like a slushy? Don't give up on the diet just yet. I bet even with the treats you think you are having you are still doing fine if you are still exercising and sweating a lot! Could you find the coolest spot in the house, bring a homemade slushy treat :D , put a fan right on you, relax and journal a little bit? Maybe if you took time to journal - even if you just write about how hot it is and how frustrated you are - you would feel better. I hope that the hot streak there ends soon for you and you find the strength to stick it out thru this stressful time.

I thought this was a trick post. I was smiling and thinking, "That little devil, she's moved up to the next clippie!"

Hang in there Debbi, the heat won't last forever! Stop that yelling and stop that cold snack eating! Unless they are popsicles, I think you can burn that sugar off (or sweat it off).

I really do feel for you, living with no AC has got to be the pits with the heat wave you are having. Just do the best you can! TRY to stick with it as much as possible, don't push yourself to exercise that much (heat stroke won't be any better for you than missing a week or two of working out!)

Do what you have to in order to stay sane. On the good side, at least you probably don't feel like eating a big slice of hot pizza or hot lasagna or any hot entrees. Fill up on fruit, enjoy some salads and have a little cheese. Be good to yourself!

I know you can get through this! And this isn't a little story to make you feel guilty or anything, but I bumped into a neighbor today who told me that his wife had a brain tumor removed 6 weeks ago (non cancerous, thank goodness). Anyway, she is up and out already, at Curves, walking around the block, etc. She had to have her pituitary gland removed as the tumor had grown around it. She is on all sorts of meds to help her with hormones, thyroid, etc. (I think she's in her early 60s). The fact that she is even up and moving around so soon after major surgery really impressed me, but that she is even going to Curves and is doing her daily walk really inspired me to stick with my plan/workouts.

It's ok to take a break, especially under trying circumstances, but remember that you are worth it and you can do it!!!!

tiggerlover-{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}} I feel so bad for you!! I really hate the HEAT! Is there somewhere you can go? Store, movie, mall, library...I'm not familiar with where you are. Shower, or cool bath before bed...get one of those kiddie pools to fill up and lay in...
TigH is right, her post to you made me feel better and I am not the one in crisis. Make some cool treats for you and family.
I wish I could do more for you, here, I'll send snow your way...*******************************************

for a blast of cooler air your way! what a total bummer! I think you feel like I do when I PMS!! no escaping it either!

Tomorrow is a new day, deep breath. Maybe everyday in your journal write two things you are blessed with, new things each day, and that will help you refocus on the positives in your life.

I know you are limited on your available groceries, but someone once told me choc. graham crackers broken into two squares with FF cool whip inbetween and then frozen was a great treat! Myself I just eat the cool whip right out of the bowl! FF Cool whip is free, as long as you don't eat too much!

Okay, try this...

Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out.

Seriously, try it, just for a few seconds. Picture yourself cool and calm, unaffected by the heat. Find a quiet spot in the house, even if it means locking yourself in the bathroom! Think of walking through snow. Think of swimming in a cold mountain pool. Think of icicles on the eaves and being able to see your own breath.

Sorry the heat has been so rotten there. I don't really like the hot, hot heat either. Makes me a little nuts, too!

But as bad as the heat is, you've got to make sure you're taking care of yourself! I'm sure you must be getting all your water in this heat, right? Try journaling just for today, just for "practice." Then tomorrow, journal again. If you feel up to it, track your points. And the day after that, try again!

And keep trying! Be strong - and take lots of cool baths! You can do it - just be gentle with yourself, and don't get discouraged. The heat will break any day now.
