in my suitcases some drinks? snack? Beach toys? flotties?

I think I read somewhere that we are not allowed to bring in drink and food onboard the ship but I read on the board that many people do...

Also, on the first day we can board the ship at 11:30am but the room are only ready at 1:30pm. What do we do with the suitcases? are they delivered to the room like at Disney?

Planning our first cruise, many more quesitons to come :flower3:

As far as I know, you can bring drinks onboard (alcoholic and non). Not sure about food though. Alcoholic drinks have to be put in a soft-side cooler without ice and carried on yourself.

You can definitely back beach toys in your suitcase. We always do.

As for your luggage, the porters take it curbside and deliver it to your room. Ours has always arrived within a few minutes of the rooms being ready. Try to keep your carry-on as light as possible because if you board early, you will be dragging it around with you on the ship. We usually bring our girls in their swimsuits and coverups and we have a tote with our swimsuits. Everything else is stuffed in the suitcases to make our lives easier.

If you are going to bring any drinks or snacks onboard with you they must be in your carry-ons. Food and drinks will sometimes attract the dogs to your bags and they will have to be opened and searched. All food and drinks must be prepackaged and sealed.

Unless one has specific dietary concerns, I wouldn't bother bringing food.

Food onboard will be plentiful.

I was thinking of snack like rice krispies squares things he can eat while waitig or at the beach for my very very picky son and and little pack of PB as he only eats Kraft PB

Another question came to mind do they have towels at the disposal for the beach? on the island too? or do we have to rent them?

so many things to think about, LOL our trip is many moons away but I'm soooo excited. My DH thinks I'm going nuts, I'm am a Disney addict

ah one more question would you recommand taking the Disney insurance or buying it seperatly?

my head is racing with question

Any sealed food is okay. Depending on what it is you can't take it back off at the end, but you should eat it anyway. Plenty of food on board, but if you like candy bars (as in the evening entertainment) Disney charges for those. This might be the opportunity to break picky eaters of their insistence on only one brand of PB?

We have paid for another cruise with the savings on insurance over the past few years. Seems like the risk of having to cancel is low enough to risk it.

You get towels on Castaway Cay right when you get off the boat, as many as you want. They have several places to return them before you get back on.

Towels are provided for all DCL excursions involving water and as you exit the pier at Castaway. For non-DCL excursions, they are sometimes available at the pier at other ports, but you can always take them from deck 9 before you leave. There is a dirty towel return before you board the ship. There is no charge for towels.

You are allowed to bring any liquids you wish (alcoholic or no) in your CARRY ON bags, not in your checked bags. As above, there is little need to bring food on board, but it is permitted if you wish to bring it. You can bring any personal items or toys you choose as long as they do not resemble weapons, etc.

I purchase my insurance privately. It costs less than 1/2 of DCL insurance and provides better coverage. I choose to purchase it because my health insurance will not cover out of the US.

As above, if you are using DCL transfers to get to port, your luggage will be handled for you before you get on the bus. If you are arriving by private transportation, the porters will take your luggage outside the terminal. It will arrive at your cabin that afternoon between 1:30 and 6 pm (usually on the earlier side). You will carry or roll only your carry ons. Boarding starts at 11:45, cabin access is at 1:30. However....in that interim you will go to lunch, etc. It's not like you are carrying your bag the whole time.

many many moons away, that's why my DH thinks i'm completely crazy in my planning :lmao:

Bring an unsealed jar of peanut butter, if that's what makes his day.

When I was a kid, my mother bought store-brand grape juice and put it in a Welch's bottle. When she served it, we asked why it tasted different.

I wanted half a grilled cheese sandwich at a restaurant or they had to bring in a McD's hamburger for me (when eating Chinese) when I was little; now I've ventured out, gastronomically (and geographically) speaking.

Have fun!

I have tried many time to trick him like that and eveytime he knows "mommy this tastes funny" so he doesn't eat and then he become suspecious of all the food I give him for a few day after. I think now he only drinks water because I tried too many times to spike his drink with vitamins... Ah the joys of living with an autistic child. ;)

I learn new thing all the time with him like american Kraft Dinner doesn't taste the same as the Canadian one, it's true! Same for Oreo cookies but that is OK he likes them both. :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear that you outgrew that it gives me hope.

I have made an exstensive list of things that are helpful when cruising with an ASD child. They actually made it into a sticky thread here. I will be soooo happy to happy you navigate through your cruise plans and prep. PM me your e-mail. Be sure to check out the above sticky...

Can't speak for the snacks, but we brought a case of water and a 6pk of 24oz bottles of Diet Dew (ship is a coke prod only zone, and I gotta have my Dew ;)) The porters took it along w/ our baggage curbside. We did NOT have to take it in our carry-ons. So that statement is not always true.

I say, if it makes you more comfortable to know that you have those food items along so that you definitely have something your DS will eat, then by all means take it along. Just be sure everything is still sealed. It will be fine. :)
Also in your first post, you ask about floaties... If you are talking the arm kind or one that you physically wear, you generally, can use your own. HOWEVER, they will not allow anything but clear floating tubes on CC. This is appearantly to help the lifeguards w/ their job, so that they can always see the people in the water. Colored tubes 'could' prevent them for seeing someone who 'could' be in need of help. The charge for a tube on CC was like $6 a day, I believe.
and I suggest taking extra towels when they hand them out as you leave ship at CC. It is a long walk back just to retrieve more towels because you can't get them out at the beach.
You are going to have a wonderful trip!!! :goodvibes

My husband will be glad to hear about the coke product :thumbsup2

As for the clear tube that make sense.

Thanks again

Let me try to clarify....the RULE is no beverages in your checked bags....

The reality is that the porters are NOT DCL employees and they are working on tips so will take just about anything you give them to take. The rule still is no beverages in your checked bags. The statement is always true, the actuality of it is not.

You just happen to have a porter who would take your beverages but technically they are not supposed to.

The problem is if everyone still trys to give their beverages to the porters to handle the fear is DCL will eventually stop offering the perk of letting you bring your own beverages on in the first place....and that would be a shame. All they ask of us guests is to bring our beverages onboard with our carryon bags...not an unfair request in any way and certainly worth an hour of inconvenience.

I hope and know you will have an amazing time.

FYI
I have been twice to CC and have never picked up towels from the peir, we are always super early and have never noticed so not sure if they were there or not, but I always ask at the little info booths and have got as many as I wanted, so just incase you forget or dont see them, ask for them near the beach, they are SO good, they never said I should have picked them up at the peir.:cutie: Dont you just love disney
o and Op, its addictive, be scared, very scared for your bank balance!:scared1:

Well I really don't want to argue the point, but the person we asked standing there, had a Disney name tag on and was wearing a disney uniform and told us to put these tags (ones HE handed to us) on the case. So HE was the one telling me to break the rules. I ASKED a CM and that is how the situation was handled. If I was breaking a rule, it was at the advice of the CM. Sorry for sharing how our situation was dealt with since it was appearantly against policy, but not because of my fault. :confused3

No argument from me.....in the case you described it seems another example of Disney being very inconsistent with their policies.....we have overheard CM's tell people they must bring their beverages in their carryons (and were told ourselves on various cruises).

In your other post you did not mention that any CM's were involved...just porters, hence the answer I gave. No need to be sorry you posted your experience.:thumbsup2
