You've seen the commercial where the boy presents his report card to his mom and her eyes well up? Well, that is me today! Youngest DS is in 8th grade. Back in 6th grade he darn near failed the year. I just received his report card in the mail today and he got straight As!!! He gets $5 for every A and he said he was going to try to break me! I told him, "I didn't mind for something like this"!

Actually, he was going thru alot of issues in 6th grade, add to that the fact that it was his first year of middle school, and the summer after 6th grade he was diganosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

After his AS diagnosis, I met with all his teachers, guidance counselor, and school psychologist and we hammered out a 504 plan for him. It is less formal than an I.E.P. For DS, his main issues are being totally disorganized. He was in a special classroom where he didn't have to change classes after every period. He mainstreamed into language arts, band, & phys ed.

I have wonderful communication with all of his teachers! We exchange e-mails on a regular basis and DS's school posts the student's grade on-line.
