Im trying to check into BWV and I have told the lady at the front desk about my DH inability to walk more than 300 yrds (this was noted on the reservation).
The lady front desk was going to send us all the way to the end of building(on the Map it shows M for location) I was nice and stated that was too far for him to walk.

So the lady front desk looked again, and told was the new room was at the very other end(3123-3136) again I told her that is too far for DH to walk.

At this point I was told there are no more rooms, the guy behind me said call MS , which I did and they suggested that I talk to the BWV manager and she came out and found us a room that had been available the whole time.

The lady that was checking us in yelled to the manager that this was the 3rd room given to us.
I didn't say a word, but I wanted to.
So we are now in a room with a view over looking the pool and it's beautiful.
I am off to find a cup of coffee, and I hope everyone else had a fabulous day.

To us our Disney vacations are special, to Disney we are just a number. If you have a medical reason for a room request, that trumps all others. Make sure that your reservation is noted as a medical request. Speak to a manager when necessary and have your requests added to the reservation by MS and not with online check in.

I am glad they found a room that works for your DH. And good luck finding the coffee. I know you can get some on the Boardwalk and probably in the lounge at BWI on the other side of the lobby.

Thank you all and yes I found the coffee .
It's kind of funny because I had it noted on the reservation that it was a medical reason that my husband couldn't walk anymore than 300 yards, and the lady stated yes it was there but she just wanted to ignore it. Thank goodness the manager stepped in .
I never do the online check-in because of all the problems we had in the past .

Don't do on line check in. Prefer "old fashioned" face to face after an awful on line check in experience where requests made months in advance on telephone with MS were overwritten somehow. Now, I make the extra phone call a day or two before arrival and ask MS to read our requests on reservation.:goodvibes

The room assigner starts assigning several days in advance of your arrival, if working from a print out, checking with MS 2 days prior won't do much good.

We verify everything 30 days prior to check in. In the past we have caught MS telling fibs about what they put on our reservation and when they did it. On 2 occasions the front desk showed me that either the request wasn't on the reservation or that it had just been added.

Sometimes I wonder if they ever put in any request that I have asked for.
This trip(3 different resorts) none of them had it noted that my DH had a medical condition.
I don't like having to call 24 prior to check in to double check everything.
And then when we did check in they don't have any thing showing.
I know they tell you that it's just a request and they can't always fill that request, but what a pain .

I am so glad to hear you were able to resolve this. But I have to admit I had to laugh. We just returned yesterday after 5 nights and our room was 3127, so pretty much at the end of the line. We actually took a picture shooting down the second hallway to show people. It was like an optical illusion. I'm not sure either of us had ever seen a hallway that long in our lives!! We really were laughing by the second day that we had to walk that far, but I suppose after eating next door at al Forno and indulging in a couple of offerings at Ample Hill Creamery, we probably needed the walk!! Enjoy your stay, and stop by the Bellevue Lounge in the morning for coffee. So relaxing!

I don't mind the BWV hall walk, it's the AKV walk that seems longer to me.

At BWV, once you get your bearings you can use the stars and the secret doors to shorten your walk.

While it was the third room given to you, it was also the first room that met the medical condition criteria. Hope you enjoy the pool and coffee! :beach:

Have you considered booking a HA room? I think the HA rooms at BWV are all close to the lobby. Then you would not have to worry.

You beat me to the suggestion! The HA pool/garden view rooms are just around the corner from the elevator. And from my observation the standard view HA rooms are also.

Requests are just that, if it's important do a HA room. Otherwise make sure it says for medical reasons and you don't put other requests, any other requests.

Oh, my! I remember that one time I got to the front desk and the room they assigned me didn't meet any of my requests and when I asked, they said none were available and assigned me a HA room. For some reason, I got pushy (maybe I'd missed my morning coffee) about not wanting HA, and the room they gave me met all my requests exactly. I thought that didn't make any sense to me, but what just happened to you is terrible! I hope you have a fabulous day and that you and your DH have a fabulous vacation. I'm so sorry it started off so badly.

Oh no, all this really scares me about our trip in Feb/March. My husband just had extensive back surgery and we will need a room close to the main building at POR. I am willing to pay for preferred, but still wonder if we will get put back in no man's land. I wish he could walk a great distance but not able to at this time. I always just put requests on while my TA is making reservations. I have never thought to call before. I have always done online check in, but not with this situation. Now I am wondering just what to do? Call a few days before or 30 days? another idea is to fax the resort with your requests listed one week before arriving? Or just do online and take your chances? What a mess just to try to get what you need!

My experience with medical necessity was I had to get a H/A room even if I didn't need all of the accommodations. If mobility and stamina are you main concerns I wonder if they wil do what they do for a DAS and tell you to get a mobility device? There are more than 300 yards to get to the bus stops. How does your DH handle that? I am glad you got a room that meets your needs and hope you have a great trip.
