I just sent in my registration fee of $45 (early bird price) for a one day session on April 5th at our local middle school. This is being offered by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County and will have classes by Master Gardeners. Continental breakfast and box lunch included! Along with a.m. and p.m. coffee breaks, soil testing, plant diagnosis and exhibits AND a Master Gardeners' plant sale. I hope I get my first choice of classes but the second choices are good ones too. I signed up for the following:

Session 1 (9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.) - Lucille's Garden (I happen to know Lucille from my church. She is a great lady!) - "Come along with us on a lively slide tour of Lucille's flowering garden throughout the seasons. Her fast-paced slide show will highlight many low-maintenane plants. Included are mainly perennials, with some annuals, trees and shrubs. 'One is nearer to God in the garden than anywhere else on earth'. Known locally as "the Plant Lady", her vibrant personality comes alive when she speaks of her garden. See if you can keep up with her enthusiasm."

My second choice for this session is For the Beginner - The fundamentals of Gardening.

Session 2 (10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.) - Everything You Wanted to Know about Daylillies - "A comprehensive slide/lecture on the care and growing of plants. The lecture includes: how to plant daylillies as well as prevent diseases and insects damage. Dividing daylilly clumps, hybridizatin, cultivation and watering practices will be covered."

My second choice for this session is Divine Clematis.

Session 3 (12:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.) - My Favorite Perennials - "A slide/lecture presentation on the basics of perennial gardening. Based on personal experience gardening on Long Island and in Vermont. From the short and sweet appeal of spring heather to the golden glow of Rudbeckia as the garden sunset, learn about the variety that nature has to offer."

My second choice for this session is Addicted to Containers.

Session 4 (2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.) - Lawn Care for Homeowners - "Homeowners spend too much time , effort and money on improper lawn care. Come and learn to protect your turf as you unravel the mysteries of starting and maintaining your lawn - the easy way! Topics include irrigation, fertilization, mowing, weed, insect and disease control and more!"

My second choice for this session is Annual Plants

I'm so excited!!! Spring will be here soon! :D

I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Wow, that would make a great gardening board mini meet.

Have fun and take notes to share with us.

That sounds GREAT, Tuli! I always enjoy listening to other people and hearing their tips! Especially if they are local....they are sooo aware of your soil and what grows best in it!

Enjoy!

Tulirose, this sounds great!!! :) All of the sessions sound very interesting, I'd love to attend them all. It must of been difficult to make your choices.

There's only one problem. We're going to expect a full report from you on April 6th, young Bud! :)

WOW!!!! You are going to be busy! Sounds like a lot of bang for your buck!!!!! Enjoy! :) (and Kim's right, we want a full report!!!)
