I'm freaking out just a little... **DOC UPDATE pg 5

I hope that you get some answers soon and that it's all good news. I agree with others, never look things up on the Internet!

No news yet. If they are open today I'm going to call my ped and see what's going on.

As for eczema, from what I understand it's usually due to an allergy to something. DD is allergic to yeast and eggs and any amount can cause her eczema to flair up. Even a cookie made with eggs is enough!

Her allergist gave me triamcinolone acetonide cream (I know, helpful huh? :rotfl: I don't know the street name) to use anytime, usually after baths. He also said when it's really dry out, cover her with Crisco after her bath. It locks in moisture without causing a trap. Anyway, IMO anyone with eczema should see an allergist, especially if you've already suspected allergies (we knew DD was allergic to eggs and nuts, but had no idea about yeast!).

luvwinnie, I hope you figure out your little spot too. It's funny the stuff we live with until we realize there might be something to it. For your sake, I hope it's nothing.

My son also has eczema and LOTS of allergies (eggs when he was younger but that is gone--now it's *just* nuts of all kinds and shellfish). There's also the pollens, dusts, molds and dust mites. We are treating him for everything but he still gets flares. When he was younger, we got the triamcinalone but that wasn't much help. He's been using Elocon (mometesone) for years, which is stronger, but a tiny bit of that will clear it right up.

And Rx steroid creams too! But we were using too much to treat the symptoms and it started making me nervous. Thanks for the tip on Elocon. May have to try that if triamcinalone stops working.

DD is also allergic to cats, dust mites, and they didn't bother testing for outside pollens, but I'm sure there is some of that too. Fun times! :rotfl:

You are so right about allergies problems & eczema kind of going hand in hand. Lindsey, my DD, has allergies too. We have not tested her for food allergies, but she is allergic to just about every tree out there, grass, dust and things like that, but her eczema is always worse in the winter. It's normally where her arm bends in the inside and behind her knees, but it has even gone down her leg at times. We also use the cream that you use and it does work for Lindsey too. :)

Oh, I wanted to ask if you know what you are having yet? I never could wait, I always had to find out what we were having.

Thinking of you guys...hope your appointment goes well today!!

Aw, thanks. But it's not til next Monday the 1st. I have to wait a whole week! Fortunately we have stopped stressing over it. So the week will go by pretty easily.

Ok just got back from our appt. Here are the results:

She does have scleroderma. Booo

But it's the morphea (localized) kind. Yay!

He gave us some steriod cream to put on it and he said it will stop its progression, but he said by the looks of it, it has already stopped growing. Yay!

Her scar is permanent. Booo

He said we should feel fortunate that it wasn't on her face because that's where it typically likes to go. Yay!

However, she may get more down the line so keep an eye on her. Booo

He also said it would NOT turn into the systemic scleroderma that is debilitating. Yay! Yay!

Thanks for all your help. We feel pretty good about our visit. Hopefully this is the only one we have to deal with.

I'm so happy for you! Sounds like you have things under control :thumbsup2

Ok. Bad news, but GOOD news!

Oh, that is good news.:goodvibes I'm so glad it wasn't worse! Thanks for updating, I've been wondering how your little girl was. She's a real cutie. Now you can relax!:thumbsup2

That is great news to hear! I know we don't want to EVER hear anything bad regarding our kids health. But...if you had to get some "bad" news, I'm glad this is the kind you are getting!

This must be a huge relief to you and I'm so happy that it is the best possible news under the circumstances.

Don't call it a scar...call it a beauty mark.;) She is a beautiful child.
Glad to hear the news was, overall, good.

That is great news--especially that it won't turn into the systemic scleroderma. With her allergies and now this it might be worth your time having her followed by an endocrinologist since the scleroderma and possibly the allergies could be autoimmune related.

I will definitely let her allergist know this. I told the dermotologist about all her food allergies and how reactionary her skin is, but he didn't act like it was related. But I'm going to call the allergist and let him know. He's supposed to be the best in the state. :thumbsup2

So we got one in the family better only for my mom to have a stroke today. So please be praying for her!
