I'm Fluent in Disney Spanish- May 2016 TR *updated 11/16*-COMPLETE

We were on our way to Space to use our last FP.
Not before we got a picture of the castle though.

We actually made it Space with time to spare.

I'm missing the ride picture again :confused3, I swear photobucket must be eating them or something. While

After Space, we made our way toward the castle.

I told Joe that we could stay close to Tomorrowland so we could make a quick exit and then I just kept inching closer to the castle:rolleyes1. What can I say, I wanted to be close. We ended up with a spot near the outermost turret, near TL. Definitely not the best spot, but good enough for me. We watched CtM.

After the show I started to start to notice all these cheerleaders around us. I had seen a few here and there, but they were really started to gather at this point. Apparently, this was the final day of some big cheerleading competition.

We watched Wishes which was amazing as always.

Sorry for all the pictures, I just love Wishes. I have never been able to watch them without holding a kid or have my arm tugged the whole time :lovestruc

After Wishes, we made our way to TL, at some point I had gotten a 4th FP for Buzz on the app, so we went there.

I seriously suck at this game. I actually got worse every time we played throughout the trip:headache:. While we were still in line, I got a 5th FP for the speedway. We had some time, so we rode one of my favorite attractions, the Peoplemover.

It is so hard to get a good picture of the castle on this ride

We then went on the speedway, which I took no pictures of again, sorry. Joe has never been on this ride and did not believe me when I told him how hard it was to drive the cars. His reaction was so funny and proved I was right:rotfl:. We laughed our whole way around the track. I had also been able to make one more FP for Buzz. I probably didn’t need it, but we grabbed it just because. While we waited we grabbed a Mickey premium bar for Joe and ice cream sandwich for me.

Then we must have ridden Buzz again.

We still had an hour before the park closed and I wanted to see CoP.

Joe fell asleep:scared1:, but I really enjoyed it.

Continued below

With time left for one more ride, we chose Pooh to close out the night pooh:.

I actually remember to look for this for once, but then got a bad picture :sad2:

Even though the park was closed for the night, we had one thing left to do, the kiss goodnightpuckerup:. We took our time making our way toward the front of the park, taking pictures along the way.

OKay I am officially in love with the back of the castle. I think I like it more than the front

We walked through the castle, which I haven't done since 2014 and we only did it then because ate at CRT. I absolutely love the view from there.

Okay, now I'm confused because the front is amazing too

We sat right here to wait for the show

This was probably the worst night to try and do this. All the cheerleaders were meeting up in the hub to take pictures and I was just trying to enjoy the atmosphere, which was impossible. On top of just being obnoxious cheerleaders, they were also stunting which just freaked me out. I just kept picturing them falling and getting badly injured. Joe was also very tired and I could tell he was annoyed by having to stay. I told him he could leave, but he refused to leave me. Finally, 12:30 rolled around, the kiss goodnight started and the big group of cheerleaders stands next to us and talked/cheered through the whole thing:furious:. So magic moment ruined. Still item number 1, checked off the must do list. I could tell Joe was unimpressed with the show and annoyed that I made him stay for it:confused3.

[

We made our way out of the park and for some reason stopped in the Chapeau. I saw the blue and silver stars Minnie ears that I have been eying for months and Joe told me to get them so I did. We took a picture with my ears and headed out for the night.

As we were walking out we heard the music for the second round of the kiss goodnight. It was 12:45 and they had already shut down the monorail, forcing everyone to take the ferry. The problem was that the entirety the of the corrals were filled with people and they were only running two ferries. We were beyond tired at this point and I felt like this was one of those cost cutting measures, I don’t actually know if it is or not, but I was MAD:mic:. We had to wait about thirty minutes and that was for one ferry. Once on the ferry we heard them make an announcement about standing clear of the stairs. Once in English, once in Spanish just like the monorail. To amuse ourselves on the ride over, we began trying to say Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas. You know the phrase. And I was having the hardest time saying manténganse. Seriously I just can't say the word. Finally I was able to get the phrase out without bungling and Joe declared that I was now fluent in Spanish. :rotfl2:To which I corrected to, I'm am fluent in Disney Spanish. Which means I can sometime say this ONE phrase :lmao:. I think we might have been a little slap happy by this point. When we finally made it to our car it was 1:30, almost an hour after leaving MK. This is definitely why you should not drive to MK. But remember, we had a reason for this and it was to pick up water. I grabbed a case at the Speedway, I think it was around $5 for 24. I think we finally got to bed around 2am.And we passed right out:faint:.

You would think that, but you'd be wrong :rotfl2:. He means well, but his "helping" isn't really helpful
Start coaching him now on what very specific things will be helpful at the airport. Practice them everywhere you can. By the time your trip rolls around he may surprise you. If nothing else you can teach at least the older two (probably the youngest as well) my technique I call "Mommy Glue" When I need her to stay in one spot I make her put her hands somewhere close and won't let her move them. (I call it mommy glue because only mommy can remove it.) Need to get something from the car? Hands go on the car. Paying for something? Hands go where I can find them. Don't have a good place like a wall or counter to make them stick their hands? hands are on Mommy's leg. It takes some practice to get it to really work but once it does it's a great sanity saver.

I told Joe that we could stay close to Tomorrowland so we could make a quick exit and then I just kept inching closer to the castle:rolleyes1.
:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I seriously suck at this game. I actually got worse every time we played throughout the trip:headache:.
:rotfl: No kids to blame it on this time! LOL! The same thing has happened to me though.

Joe fell asleep:scared1:, but I really enjoyed it.
:rotfl:

OKay I am officially in love with the back of the castle. I think I like it more than the front
::yes:: Same here!

. Finally, 12:30 rolled around, the kiss goodnight started and the big group of cheerleaders stands next to us and talked/cheered through the whole thing:furious:. So magic moment ruined. If the area in front of the castle was swamped with people and the ferry that crowded you came to the front of the park too early and didn't really get to experience the true magic of the kiss goodnight. I hope you got a better chance to experience it this trip.

Hey, inching close to the Castle happens to the best of us.

Man you were on a roll with all those FPs you managed to secure.

Joe fell asleep?! On CoP? I guess with the lateness it can be a little excused, but I still could never do it.

Ugh, I'm sorry the Cheerleaders ruined The Kiss Goodnight for you. I'd have been super unhappy in your shoes.

Wow, that's crazy that you had to wait so long for a ferry. I can't say if it is cost cutting but if it were it wouldn't surprise me. At least by the time you got on you were too busy perfecting your Spanish to stay mad :P

Well, sounds like a nice night until the Kiss Goodnight. That would be a bummer to stay specifically for it and have it ruined. I've seen it twice, I think, and both were unintentional. (Actually, I have an update written for the last time I saw it - just need to get that posted - but it was an almost empty hub/Main Street and very magical). Hope you get another chance to enjoy it.

And yay on your Labor Day trip! Sounds great staying at those resorts and going to the party!

Sounds like such a fun time in Tomorrowland and seeing the fireworks!

Your late night castle photos are gorgeous. I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy the kiss goodnight though.

Sounds like a tough end to the night, but despite that sounds like a great day!

Ok, I just did my online TSA PreCheck application and have my appointment for July. I love this! I'll get to breeze through security solo in October and then make life easier in March flying solo with the boys. Great tip!!!

I can never resist getting a good spot for CTM and Wishes. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing it!

Fun rides to end the night! I'm absolutely horrible at Buzz too. I have no idea where I'm shooting most of the time.

Glad you got to see the Kiss Goodnight! I saw it the night of the After Hours event and it was great! Sorry the cheerleaders messed up the atmosphere though.

What a long trek back to Pop! Hopefully you got some good rest!

Following along! Great start to your trip! We love SeeYaReelSoon! I just realized you guys are Joe and Ashley too! How funny. Our next trip isn't until next May so their videos help make the wait not so bad. I have never had to wait a year though so we shall see how this goes, a year is too long! :-)

Wow, that's a heck of a first evening! For no longer than you were in MK, you really got a lot done! I'm kind of thinking the castle might not have had the usual effect on you since it was technically your second time into the park. :rolleyes1

I've never seen Wishes from that vantage point. I actually usually prefer to be farther back for Wishes, but it does look like a pretty good spot. I'm glad you got to see and do so much that evening, but sorry for the cheerleaders ruining the Kiss Goodnight. Honestly, I've been there for the Kiss Goodnight, but I didn't even realize they did anything at the castle. I just thought it was audio that you could experience from anywhere. So I guess I technically haven't experienced the full experience of the Kiss Goodnight???

That really does stink that they only had 2 ferries running when it was time to leave. When it is that late, you just want to get to bed, not stand in line waiting to leave for half an hour. Between the monorail issues and the blatant cost cutting that Disney keeps doing, it makes it a nightmare to deal with some of these things.

And yes... I'm always planning and pricing trips. It is always nice when you find something more affordable than expected! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: No kids to blame it on this time! LOL! The same thing has happened to me though.
Nope just have to admit, I'm terrible:sad2:.

Hey, inching close to the Castle happens to the best of us.
::yes::

Man you were on a roll with all those FPs you managed to secure.
I know it was awesome, definitely loving the changes to be able to book 4th and beyond on the app

Joe fell asleep?! On CoP? I guess with the lateness it can be a little excused, but I still could never do it.
Me either, but as you will see down the line Joe can sleep anywhere, any time

Ugh, I'm sorry the Cheerleaders ruined The Kiss Goodnight for you. I'd have been super unhappy in your shoes.
Yeah, it sucked, I just tell myself anytime something like this happens there's always next time

Wow, that's crazy that you had to wait so long for a ferry. I can't say if it is cost cutting but if it were it wouldn't surprise me. At least by the time you got on you were too busy perfecting your Spanish to stay mad :P

Yeah, it wasn't ideal. I was so glad to not have the cheerleaders around after that, most went home the next day.

And yay on your Labor Day trip! Sounds great staying at those resorts and going to the party!
Thanks, super excited about it.

Sounds like such a fun time in Tomorrowland and seeing the fireworks!
::yes::

Your late night castle photos are gorgeous. I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy the kiss goodnight though.
Thank you very much. There will always be another time to enjoy it, so I tried to look at it that way.

Sounds like a tough end to the night, but despite that sounds like a great day!
Yeah, it wasn't ideal, but overall an awesome first day.

Ok, I just did my online TSA PreCheck application and have my appointment for July. I love this! I'll get to breeze through security solo in October and then make life easier in March flying solo with the boys. Great tip!!!
:cool1: I had my appointment this week and I basically had to double check the application with the lady and then get my fingerprints taken. The next morning, I got my known traveler number. Hopefully it will be easy for you too.

I can never resist getting a good spot for CTM and Wishes. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing it!
Me either, it's just my favorite thing.

Fun rides to end the night! I'm absolutely horrible at Buzz too. I have no idea where I'm shooting most of the time.
OMG me too, the only time I knew where I was shooting was the times when Joe and I were the only people on the ride:rotfl2:.

Glad you got to see the Kiss Goodnight! I saw it the night of the After Hours event and it was great! Sorry the cheerleaders messed up the atmosphere though.
That's okay, maybe we saw it again that night too ;)

What a long trek back to Pop! Hopefully you got some good rest!
Well it was rest, I wouldn't say good :rotfl:

Following along! Great start to your trip! We love SeeYaReelSoon! I just realized you guys are Joe and Ashley too! How funny. Thanks for joining. My oldest just thinks it's the funniest thing that we're Ashley and Joe and they are too. Their videos are great for long countdowns and also post Disney blue. Hope your countdown doesn't feel as long as it is.

Wow, that's a heck of a first evening! For no longer than you were in MK, you really got a lot done! I'm kind of thinking the castle might not have had the usual effect on you since it was technically your second time into the park. :rolleyes1
Good point

The only thing they do at the castle is it changes colors throughout the audio :confused3, so not much to miss.

Yeah, that's for sure. Thankfully this was the only time we dealt with something that could have possibly been because of cost-cutting and made our time less than enjoyable.

And yes... I'm always planning and pricing trips. It is always nice when you find something more affordable than expected! :thumbsup2
I didn't even think that was possible with a Disney trip :rotfl:

Day 2: Part 1
I'm not cranky, you are

After being out so late the night before, the plan to wake up early did not go over real well. I don’t remember when we finally woke up, but I remember being late. I also woke up this morning feeling kind of let down. I don’t know how to really put it into words so bear with me as I attempt to. You how you plan something amazing and build it up in your head? Well I do that with every Disney trip and every time Disney meets or exceeds those expectations and this time it had not. Now it had absolutely nothing to do with Disney, we had a great time the night before, amazing cast members, fun times, nothing amiss. And yet everything just kind of felt off, do you know what I mean? As I got ready I couldn’t help but just have this sinking feeling like the reason everything was just a little bit less magical was because the kids weren’t there. It’s not that I was missing them just yet, I was still in the, I’M FREE!!, period of leaving them. But I just felt like maybe it was really them and their amazement and wonder while at WDW, that really brought the magic for me. Another large part was all the negative feelings towards Disney prior to the trip. This was shortly after cuts for everything at WDW, things not being open when they were supposed to, and the every increasing price of these trips. And it left me with a sour taste I think. Sorry, for the tangent, but this was honestly how I was feeling this morning. I tried to shake it off, because we had a really fun day planned, filled with things we could never do with the boys or would have been made more difficult and I was ready to get going. But I just thought I should share my mind set, because it did effect me for a good portion of this day.

Since we woke up late, we just ran to Classic Hall to grab a chocolate croissant each and fill our mugs with coffee. And where were we headed this morning?

This was the first time I had ever gotten to a park and been there late enough that people were already let inside. We usually show up 30+ minutes early, but today it was maybe 10 minutes before rope drop. Yes I know that’s still early, but to us it felt like we were way behind. But we figured it wouldn’t matter because surely no one would be headed where we were at rope drop.

Yeah, no there were actually a good amount of people in Innoventions waiting for Sum of All Thrills and there was a rope up and we were not allowed in. While we waited, we looked around the area.

They actually didn’t let us back until after 9 and even then we were still a whole group of people back and had to wait a little bit before our turn. And I have to say, it was so worth it. I read a lot of trip reports, like an embarrassing amount , but I hardly ever see this attraction get mentioned and I seriously don’t know why. It is so much fun. We even had an awesome CM, who gave us tips on making the most thrilling ride. For those of you who don’t know, I am obsessed with the Forbidden Journey ride and this ride has the same Kuka arm technology and it is seriously a blast. If anything I found it too short, but I see why they have to do that since I think there were only 4 simulators. So if it does go away, that would be a bummer, because it's a cool ride.

After Sum of All Thrills, we hadn’t had enough thrills for one day, so we went to Mission Space.

In my PTR, I had mentioned my fear of this ride, but I was committed to doing the orange side. Joe had been taking his Dramamine and we were ready to be spun about. Seriously, if they want to scare their guests before a ride, they have succeeded here. Joe didn’t know why I was worried about the ride and after like the fourth warning, he said maybe we shouldn’t do it:rotfl2:. Well we did, we even got our own pod or whatever, because I guess everyone else got scared off. And it wasn’t that bad, for me. Joe was not feeling too great afterward, but I have seen him a lot sicker after rides, so I guess the medicine worked a little:thumbsup2. He did say he never wants to do it again though.

After all those thrills, you’d think we would want a break from it all and you would be wrong, because our FP for Test Track was active and ready to be used. One problem though, my TT FP was gone.

Okay, so I was freaking out, it was gone and I couldn’t get it back, what the heck. We found a CM at the FP kiosk and explained that my TT FP disappeared and he said no it just turning into an anytime FP . Well I felt dumb. There was a thing that said pick a new experience or something like that, but I thought it was telling me to pick a new third FP because TT was gone. Opps, I guess the ride had gone down and those were issued. So much for thinking I’m an uber planner and know everything:sad2:. Thankfully, TT was up again, glad I stuck with my gut and did not RD it and now we were ready to ride. I don’t care about designing the car so I let Joe do it.

He even made it pink for me :lovestruc

We felt like our stomachs had taken enough abuse for one morning and decided to relax a little bit. We had another FP for the 4D film and headed in that direction.

Joe forgot his sunglasses and spent the morning squinting in all our pictures, thus ruining them :rotfl:
I was at this point in the morning that Joe started to act a little cranky. Now let me explain something about Joe, he doesn’t get cranky. He is one of those annoying happy people, like ALL THE TIME. Nothing ever really bothers him and he’s just happy, so for him to be grumpy is disconcerting and annoying to me. Needless to say we went about the rest of the day in this weird tension filled bubble, not a really good way to start the trip. I promise though things do get better. So in our passive aggressive, I’m not cranky, you are state, we wondering around Epcot.

When we got to the theater, we had just missed making the show and had to wait for the next one to start. I have to say I really enjoyed the clips they had lead up to the film with the different animators talking about the shorts. I really like the shorts, as well. It’s not a must do by any means, but a great break from the heat and a chance to rest your feet make it worth it to me. Joe fell asleep again . After the shorts, we were hungry and ready to start our tasting around the world. First we needed lots of pictures of the F&G plants and flowers.

Our first Outdoor Kitchen was Urban Farm Eats.

As a disclaimer, we are not foodies and generally picky eaters so you’ll hear a lot of this was good or bad, not much more descriptive than that:confused3. However, my favorite thing about the outdoor kitchens is that we get to try things we would never normally have the guts to eat and it has allowed us to expand our palates. So here we had the Vegetable and White Bean "Naanwich" with Arugula Pesto, and Oven Dried Tomatoes Featuring Seeds of Change Quinoa and the Avive Natural Peach Sparkling Wine. Both were very good, the naanwich was supposed to come with rice, but they didn’t give it to us.

This actually had a lot of flavor and was one of my favorite things we had. And the drink sounds exactly like it was peach flavor champagne type drink and I loved it:love:.

Up next we head into the world showcase.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling the magic right off the bat. Hopefully that changes!

I've only been on Sum of all Thrills once, but I really did enjoy it! Definitely underrated!

Mission Space Orange is a lot more intense than I thought it would be, don't think I'll be riding it again haha

Love all your Flower & Garden pictures!

We always say we should do Sum of All Thrills and then we end up seeing a high wait time and are on to something else. We're hoping to do it this time if it doesn't go away.

I feel you. Sometimes Marie and I fall into that same bubble where it's just like I feel like she's cranky and she doesn't but me feeling like she's cranky makes her cranky and ugh. But, you just go with it and continue on.

Flower and Garden is so beautiful, thanks for reminding me!

What a thrilling morning! I never made it on Sum of All Thrills, but glad you enjoyed it!

Love eating/drinking around the food booths! Sparkling peach wine sounds great!

I'm with you on that "not quite right" feeling. I get that whenever I think about going in October. On one side there is freedom and a break and time to explore Disney the way I want to...and then there is the side that I'll miss the boys, they'll be sad, I don't want to leave them out, etc. I think it's a balance and I'm excited to see how this goes for the rest of your trip!

Sum of All Thrills and Mission Space are on my list for October! Great pictures around Future World. I loved Epcot during F&G. It's beautiful all the time but the flowers and topiaries were so pretty.

I think all couples have that struggle - "what's wrong with you?" "nothing, I'm fine, something's wrong with you." is a fight we have every so often.

Peach wine does sound very refreshing!!

I can understand the not feeling right. I'm glad though it seems you made the best of it.

Sum of all thrills is something I really should've done and considering its rumored to be going away later this year I'm disappointed I've never done it.

You guys got some great pictures around Epcot!

I'm sorry you weren't feeling the magic right off the bat. Hopefully that changes!
Thanks, it does just took a little bit.

I've only been on Sum of all Thrills once, but I really did enjoy it! Definitely underrated!
Yeah, I'll be sad if it goes away.

Mission Space Orange is a lot more intense than I thought it would be, don't think I'll be riding it again haha
Intense is a very good word for it.

Love all your Flower & Garden pictures!
Thanks

We always say we should do Sum of All Thrills and then we end up seeing a high wait time and are on to something else. We're hoping to do it this time if it doesn't go away.
That's understandable, it's one of the ones you have to get to right away which is so hard there are things like Soarin and TT and only one FP >:(

I feel you. Sometimes Marie and I fall into that same bubble where it's just like I feel like she's cranky and she doesn't but me feeling like she's cranky makes her cranky and ugh. But, you just go with it and continue on.
This is us exactly, so frustrating. It worked out eventually though

Flower and Garden is so beautiful, thanks for reminding me!
I know, it's one of my favorite things, I can't image it not being there next time I go

What a thrilling morning! I never made it on Sum of All Thrills, but glad you enjoyed it!

This was a first time begin able to enjoy around the world and we loved it.

I'm with you on that "not quite right" feeling. I get that whenever I think about going in October. Yeah I remember saying it to you when we met up. The feeling never went fully away, but I learned to love it in my own way with out the boys and you'll do that too.

Sum of All Thrills and Mission Space are on my list for October! Great pictures around Future World. I loved Epcot during F&G. It's beautiful all the time but the flowers and topiaries were so pretty.
Definitely do them, it's your chance.

I think all couples have that struggle - "what's wrong with you?" "nothing, I'm fine, something's wrong with you." is a fight we have every so often.
:rotfl2:yup even at Disney

Peach wine does sound very refreshing!!
::yes::

Maybe it won't and you'll get another chance, and if so do it :thumbsup2.

Day 2: Part 2
Canada: Big, Wide, and Very, Very Cold :cold:

After a quick bite, we were headed into Canada.

Besides stopping in some of the QS locations in some of the countries, we have never done more that walk around the outside of the pavilions and this time I was determined to take my time in each one.

We decided to see the movie there as well. Right when we walked up, we had once again just missed the show and had to wait the whole length again, see a trend forming?

We were at least able to sit this time while we waited and I used the time to call and check on the boys. My in-laws had to take the baby to the doctor for me and I wanted to see how it went. We saw the movie, I liked it. ;Probably my favorite of the WS, because Martin Short :thumbsup2 and it made me want to visit Canada, which I assume is the point of all movies.

We were still hungry after the movie and went in search of some more food.

We got the Land-Harvested Field Greens with Apples, Dried Blueberries, Stilton Cheese, and Apple Cider Vinaigrette, the Pear Cider-Brined Shredded Corn Beef with Braised Cabbage and Pears and Branston Dressing, and beer flight.

I LOVED the salad and Pear Hard Cider. These were my favorite food and drink items out of everything. The salad was so fresh and had everything sweet, salty, tangy and cider was sweet and delicious. Ahh, I could so for some of this right now. I don’t like corned-beef but Joe really liked it and his favorite was the black cherry cider. I wish we would have gone back and gotten more:sad2:. After filling our tummies, we wandered around the UK pavilion.

Joe was very excited because they have the store with sports stuff and then the shop where you can see your name’s history. He of course wanted to learn all about his last name, which did have a pretty good backstory. I was less interested and moved on though.

After we felt we had seen it all, we moved on towards France. There is always a FP person on the bridge between the two and Joe and I have gotten a picture there every trip and once again had to stop. It was funny though because the couple who got their picture taken in front us did the normal pose, then the guy says now kiss. The women says no very forcefully, which I found odd and the guy just did not get it. He said, you’re in France, it's romantic give him a kiss, and she says no even more forcefully. It was pretty awkward to watch, and the guy she was with just stood there, it was very strange, but also kind of funny.

Of course we had no problem with a kissing picture.

It sounds like a fun time exploring the World Showcase! We did a little better this time, but we usually seem to skim around the outside of each country too. It looks like you guys did a great job taking it all in!

I want to see all of the WS movies. We've never seen ANY of them because, as you know, they are just not kid friendly. Glad you got a chance to see one and enjoyed it!

Love the picture of the bridge! But that does sound very awkward...why take a picture together but draw the line at a kiss? Unless it was a first/early type of situation? Weird!

Excited to read more about your WS adventures!

I like exploring the countries as much as I can but I'll be honest and say I've never stayed and watched the Canada movie. I do like Martin short so I probably should watch it once.

I don't like corned beef either but the food does look good.
