I'm exhausted...

We were so busy this weekend. We hauled and put out 6 pick-up truck loads of bark and mulch. I planted some shrubs (1 lilac, 2 blueberry bushes, and 2 vines that I can't remember the name of) in a new bed my dh cut. Then I cleared out the lower garden area that was overgrown with grass. I had my dahlias planted back there last year but this year I'm going to plant pumpkins. We got the sprinkler system on and repairs made and then dh fertilized the grass. WHEW. I'm sure he is more tired than I am. He really did all the hard hauling. This is the first time we have ever mulched. Everything looks so nice. I can't believe we haven't done it before!

I felt your exhaustion just reading that....:D

Sounds like a great bed in the making. Could you share pics, when your pumpkins start coming in. I just love pretty pumpkin patches....:D

Sounds like a very tiring but rewarding weekend. I agree about the mulch, it makes a yard looked neat and gives it that finished look.

I hope to order mine this week, who knows when I'll get around to getting it put down. I'll be working the next couple of Saturday's and have graduation parties for the next 3 weeks. Also waiting on the tree's to do anything with the front. Plus the old deck will be coming down and the new one will be going up. I'm sure I'll have lots of crushed flowers before the deck is finished.

Heather: I'll post pictures of everything. I'm completely into pictures right now. I love looking at them when they are posted.

Mamu: I've been feeling some serious empathy for you and your weather situation. We have been having a really nice spring so far but it is usually cold, wet and gray here. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you just to catch up...then throw in your busy June and you are going to be completely exhausted!

The husbands are supposed to do the hardest "grunt" work, Mary. ;) :)

The two of you accomplished a lot, I'm sure it feels and looks, great! :)

Mamu, I think you need to get yourself a young, strong, garden helper. Did I mention handsome also? ;) :)

Hard work now reaps huge rewards later. :D

I think that is the greatest joy of gardening... really hard labor... but something beautiful to show for your efforts. For most of us, the typical work day is hard... but more mental. There is something very fundamental in "working" and being rewarded by something as beautiful as a clean yard and garden. :)

Congratulations on all your hard work. Looking forward to those pics.

You are so right Tulirose & Dixie. I've been puttering around the last few days, planting Petunias but not really doing much. Everything looks so nice. I even had my very first Hummingbird buzz by my new feeder twice. It hasn't stopped for a drink but seemed to be checking it out. Maybe it's a scout Hummer and I'll soon have lots of them.
