I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

I am not DONE, I still had a good time, but I have to say I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I felt like the rides had suddenly become exclusively reserved for those staying onsite with a Magic Band.
I felt a bit like an un-welcome guest.
I did not get to ride most of my favorite rides.

Still I am hoping that they work on this.

I think this is how I will most likely feel after this next trip. We avoided them in June, but went ahead and got MBs and the FP+ for this trip. I am under-enthused about it all, but I do know one thing for certain that will come of it......we will be in Disney World and we will have a great time regardless. ;)

We did the same for our upcoming Christmas trip, ADR's, MB's and FP+. And I still plan to be at RD and use EMH everyday but I am a little concerned because there will be a LOT more people at that time thrown into this "test" and I'm still seeing people post that MB's did not work or KTTW cards did not work and having to spend considerable time getting them fixed. Spending time getting something fixed is not my idea of a vacation. They could have just rolled out MB's and marketed them, "oooh, great, look, no more lanyards, everything is on your wrist" and made THAT part WORK first, then proceeded with FP+. JMO.

This is a discussion board. A Disney discussion board. An all things Disney discussion board. Not just a "Disney is best - Please don't post anything bad about them!" message board.

I don't expect them to listen, nor do I care. I'm doing what this message board is meant for. Sharing my opinions, both good and bad, about Disney.

This is my contention. I originally came here for tips for planning (lurking in 2010) then joined when I was going to Disneyland last year. With a trip booked for next October, the changes are having a big impact on my expectations. At what point am I willing to lower my expectations to the point the trip is no longer worth the $$$? That is the question. In order to get ALL the information I need, both positive and negative opinions are necessary. What if everyone rated every restaurant as 5 stars with glowing reviews of each and every dish. Would I be getting the information I need to plan! No Way!

Carry on you Negative Nellys and Pixie Dust Pushers...I am reading...:surfweb:

For the same reason people hang out after their trip is done and they have none planned. For conversation. What's so hard about that?

It is not hard, just seems a bit weird. If someone isn't going anymore because they don't like this, that, the other, why be so emotionally invested in it?

If you don't like it, why do you still like it. I mean, I don't like hockey for example. But I don't go to hockey forums and let everyone know that I don't like hockey. I don't have a hockeyisgreat.com account and a hockey_is_cool.com account and go hang out there and post all day about how much I hate hockey.

Your example doesn't really mesh with this particular thread though. It isn't, I am not going until they get this FP+ thing straight or I am giving it a break for a few years.

The topic in this case isn't just I'm Done, it is I'm Done!!!

When I am done with something that I don't like or hate or whatever the reasoning is, I don't hang out on forums and post about it for a month. Because if I do, I would question whether I am really 'Done!!!' with it.

Feeling emotion or loss about a passion lost seems pretty close to normal to me.

This is a Disney Forum, you don't have to be one of the mindless whatever Disney does I will give them all my money drones to post.

Correct. It is a Disney forum. That is my point. If you have no plans at all to ever to Disney again, why the hell hang out on a Disney forum?

I've seen an awful lot of people say this could cause them to never go back. Since this is still in testing though, I am not surprised to see lots of folks saying "If this rolls out X way then I'm not going back".

Many of us are still hoping for a last minute reprieve from the Governor though. And I'm sure if that happened, those of us hanging out here on the DIS will be among the first to know. ;)

But you probably never liked hockey. If you used to be a big fan but heard all of the stars were walking out and you were pretty sure you'd stop going when that happened, wouldn't you at least hang out in the hockey forums to find out for sure when it did happen?

Because this is, as another person put it, a Disney fan forum. The commonality among most, if not all, of us, is that Disney, especially a Disney park, touched us all in some way and made us feel that "Disney magic."

It's not like, to use your example, someone who has never liked Disney is coming here and posting; no, it is someone who has loved Disney complaining about what made it magical being taken away.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, Disney has realized there are a lot more people who have either never visited or people who don't care if the magic is there. We rabid fans are a small, small minority of Disney guests, at least as far as WDW is concerned, and any economic loss will probably be offset by the increase in sales that supposedly already correlates with magic bands and having your vacation planned months out.

It will be interesting to see if magic bands and the ultra-planning comes to Disneyland. As I understand it, that is much more of a "local's" park. Disney seems to care much more about offending the DL rabid fans than they do those of us who feel as strongly about WDW.

That is exactly how I feel. For the first time in a very long time, I am planning on spending my vacation dollars at somewhere other than WDW. I love to plan my Disney vacations, but it seems like it is getting so inflexible that it will take the joy out of it for even me.

I know that even though the magic is waning--and ironically, it is Disney itself that seems to be making it that way--I will still go back some day. It is like Pete (from the podcast) says with the tickets. Unless I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is, my complaints ultimately don't mean anything.

I have to admit, that I haven't read all of this, but, I am concerned as to why the bands etc aren't good. I haven't used fast pass much, so, will this still impact me? Thank you..

It's really difficult to answer that question.

The whole My Magic/Fast Pass+ thing is a seismic shift at Disney. It'll definitely effect you somehow.

I have to disagree, if you rarely used FP in the past, it won't affect you that much at all..

Just got back from the World, and had a great time. Didn't wait in a ton of lines, despite no access to FP+, and we didn't draw a ton of FP either. Arrived early to hit the big rides, and then adapted the rest of the day to the lines and our mood. No issues with ADRs - we only book reservations we will actually use, and we spontaneously hit 2 more TS restaurants on a whim. We planned a bunch, but we also went with the flow, and adapted as things changed during the day.

I'm not really a big fan of Plus, but I didn't feel like it made much of a dent in our enjoyment of the parks whatsoever. Can't wait to go back.
