I just got off the phone with Long Beach Yellow Cab. They say they do not do flat fee rates to any good neighbor hotel. They are willing to drop me off at Disneyland and have my family walk to CCI for a flat $45 rate. But they will charge me about $63 to drop me at the hotel. My understanding that other Diser have gotten the flat rate. Or am I wrong?? Please, if anyone has gotten a flat rate to a good neighbor hotel, tell me how you did it or what taxi company did you used?

The person you talked to obviously didn't know what they were talking about. ALL the cabs that run from LGB and SNA have an agreement with the airports to provide a flat rate to the "DLR area". They will take you to your hotel for that flat rate.

Where they get you, however, is on the return trip. They have no such agreement with the airport for return trips and they will charge you mileage, and it will be a lot more than $45.

At first I talked with a "regular" dispatch person. When I kept on asking about the flat rate she turned me over to a supervisor. She also said she could not give me a flat rate. So, should I just not worry and pick any cab at the airport and they will give me the flat rate?

I always secure the flat rate with the taxi driver before getting in the cab, but yes, just tell the driver that you are going to the CCI and ask for the resort area flat rate, which you are aware is $45.

I just took a taxi to and from SNA and PPH the week before last. I asked about flat rates and was told they know longer did them as they were having problems with drivers speeding to get back to the airport to pick up additional fares. I don't know how much truth there was to that statement, but I had my own way to make sure I got a reasonable rate.

When I got into the cab I told the driver the flat rate used to be 35-40 dollars and the lower the meter read for my trip the higher the drivers tip would be.

To PPH from SNA my fare was $38. From PPH to SNA my fare was $37.

Hey!! Very clever!!

I too was told at SNA there was no longer a flat rate. I had not called ahead. It cost us $46-48 dollars (slightly more going back). Wish I'd thought of dsny1mom's idea!

I do think the OP may be going from LGB, which may not have the same flat-rate fare as SNA? There is a website that SAYS you can get a flat rate, and if they won't give it to you when you call, tell them to look here: http://www.anaheim-yellowcab.com/AirportService.html You can see what the flat rate is to each hotel for Anaheim Yellow Cab Co., but bluegrizzlies said she was not able to get the flat rate when she called them. I haven't tried it myself but I don't see how they can advertise it on their website and not honor it.

Note that the flat rate for LGB to Hojo is listed as $45 and LGB to DLH is $39. They do it by zip code. They list the other area airports as well.

We have done taxis 6 times and never had a flat rate - but it was always right around $40. :)
