I'm bringing a cot and toaster to ASSp

nix the toaster. dont want to smell burnt toast, now if you were bringing a hot plate and making some bacon, i could live with that.

Okay, okay. I will NOT bring the toaster. As you can see, we have been to WDW many times. I have NEVER brought a toaster. I usually have my Total in premeasured icing containers and add skim milk. My kids usually have poptarts (cold) or cold bagels with cream cheese from our cooler. I have no problem toasting my English muffin in the food court. It was just a thought, and I appreciate everyone who told me that toasters were available.

The cot will be folded up during the day. It is very thin! A child could barely turn over on it. We are not having more people in the room than is allowed--we have two adjoining rooms for 6 of us.

Thanks for the humor, kirbsam!

Ummmmm, just wondering. How could you have posted so many times and not know what reaction you would get? You know we DISers are all perfect people who NEVER bend the rules! :rotfl: :badpc:

Now, if you would make me some scrambled eggs/with cheese to go with that toast and bacon, we would be good to go!

Now go and have a great trip! :goodvibes

I probably shouldn't post but i can't help myself!
I understand the worry over fire but as others have said a curling iron is also dangerous and i use that every morning at disney. Also MANY hotels have an in room coffee maker so those must not be that dangerous. And as for that there are so many hotels these days that offer mini suites like a mini fridge, microwave or even a toaster. I never knew that the smell of burnt toast would cause such a stir! We have stayed at many nice beach hotels that have had microwaves in the room where the smell of food could offend others! Also a toaster too!

I don't think that this person was just trying to save money but also the hassle of dragging everyone down to the food court for a piece of toast.

I have vacationed at disney for 12 years ( along with many other places!) with my toaster and honestly it wasn't until I found this site that i ever gave the toaster a second thought! I didn't realize I was doing something terrible. I have it sitting out in plan sight and the maid has always seen it and yet no one has had an issue with it.

One last thing is I wonder how people do any kind of cooking in the villa's or studios as wouldn't the smell of burnt toast cause a problem?

If I smelled something burning, I'd call the fire department--especially in a hotel situation where a fire can quickly spread and KILL PEOPLE. You don't know if there's more to it than the toast. I guess I should have worded that differently to say this.

Anne

I'd so the same thing, Anne. I don't think calling the FD when you smell something burning is wasting resources. The FD is there to respond to potential fires and the smell of something buring a sign of a potential fire.

But only if you make enough to share! :teeth:

Am I missing the joke here? Is the OP really considering packing up his/her toaster and bringing it to Disney??!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I don't think you could. I was upgraded to club level at HRH Universal a few years ago. i think my room was right above the main kitchen. The smell of bacon woke me up every morning. The first morning it was pleasant. After that, it was nauseating. I never want to stay in that section again.

this poses MUCH more of a danger then a toaster!!!!!!!! great now dealing with an open electrical unit...hummm

as for bread or crackers. no it does not work....why worry for me. I get ok'd all the time from the front desk. one year at the YC they gave me one to use......but then again I am always in the deluxe and with only 2 people
much more room.......and guess what?? I can actully make toast without burning it!!. amazing huh?

 Being the OP, I really had no idea the toaster was "a can of worms" here :confused3 .

Janet, I'm with you; I really didn't intend to burn anything. (I think the bacon was a joke; clearly that would be dangerous)

Lulugirl, you wouldn't believe the stuff I bring in my van when I go on vacation! I don't mean that I throw in all of the appliances I own :teeth: , I just mean that I bring medicines, clothes, shoes, snacks---I pack whatever I think I may need! The toaster is quite small compared to the coolers I pack.
It's not much bigger than my single coffee maker.

I'm the only one who mentioned people smoking cigarettes in rooms. This smells worse to me than anything (I'm allergic and get headaches easily from cigarette smoke), and this poses just as much of a hazard than any appliance I may plug in.

Thanks for responding to this thread--I found it unexpectedly entertaining :earsgirl:

If anything is a potential for fire, it would be smoking in the rooms, but everybody wants to waste energy over one person wanting to bring a toaster when the person next to her might be falling asleep with a lit cigarette. If they ban toasters and microwaves for fire hazard, why not cigarettes? And no, this is not meant to be a smoker bash.

::yes::

and I love having the non-smoking room and having some loser smoking on the porch, of course it ALWAYS blows in my direction....but that is another topic for another thread!

I think you people are over the top with the 'using a toaster equates to killing people' lines. My goodness, she said she planned to be careful with it, didn't she?

You COMPLETELY took it out of context.

I was saying that if I smelled smoke or anything burning in a hotel I'd call the fire department. I was not saying that the OP was trying to kill people.

I still think it's irresponsible to use a cooking appliance in a hotel room, especially when there is one available for public use in a safe manner a short walk away.

A LOT of hotels are stating to go completely non-smoking, and a lot of insurance companies are beginning to offer lower premiums to those that initiate this policy. The irrefutable fact is that it saves lives in a number of ways.

that would be so great!!!! but I do not ever see that happeneing, someone will take advantage of that. Just like in the parks this time I was there last week!

One of the resorts my DH and I visit regularly has a limited amount of smoking rooms, and they are in the older, undesirable section. Penalties for smoking in a non-smoking room are immediate expulsion with no refund, and a $500 charge to your card for a cleaning and safety fee.

We also stay at a couple B&B's that are completely non-smoking. Another offers a gazebo about 50 yards from the main building as the only place you can smoke on the property.

The last time we drove down we noticed a couple of the motels along I-95 are advertising as "All Non-Smoking Rooms".

I doubt it--the first resort I talked about is always full. We book a year or more in advance.

We found that by moving the little table and chairs to in front of the window in a Value room gave lots of room to put down an air mattress along that wall beside the dresser/tv. The maid left it in that position our entire stay. Our boys got to be too big to sleep together. Now they don't travel with us at all.

Does anyone know if The CR Club Tower has a toaster available for it's guests?
