I'm Boycotting WCC

We were just there on June 20th and had a great time. My son was wearing a shirt with the American flag on it. So he ended up having to stand on his chair, and we all pledged allegiance to him, I mean the flag!

We were there the same week as Del's Wife and we too were disappointed in the lack of antics. It was very quiet compared to past visits. We were also VERY disappointed to hear about Bobby leaving! We had requested him on several visits and he never disappointed!! My boys were very sad to hear he wouldn't be there any longer. I do not plan on returning any time soon because it was just very disaapointing and not as fun as in the past.

We were told that he is going to to the Comedy Warehouse at DTD to be a bartender there.

We will miss Bobby!!

For those that have been recently, what meal do you think is our best chance to have the most fun? We have never eaten here before and want it to be a memorable as possible.

We ate dinner at WCC for the first time on June 4, 2006. LOTS of yelling, throwing straws, large containers of sodas, pony races, etc. We LOVED the experience and plan to make it a tradition. Our server was Hedda Lettuce (Suzanne) and she was wonderful.

We had Maverick (Jeff) as our server for Breakfast on June 18 - great time!

When we were there in December and waited for a table in Bobby's section to open up, he already sensed it back then that things were on the slide. He could no longer wear his trademark Tigger hat due to someone else wanting to wear a bullfrog and someone else wanting to wear...so they said nobody could wear a character on their hat. He mentioned something about a lawsuit regarding a bottle of ketchup breaking and having some glass inuring a child. I think they still held out hope that things would change, because another server actually wrote down a mail address to send comments/complaints to.

It's too bad that management has to change things like that. Bobby was the primary reason we chose WCC, after reading of him from reports from the Zurg family and Delswife family. From what I've read, a lot of folks chose to eat there solely because of him. He's got the personality to fit in wherever he goes, but I think he would be happiest at a place like WCC.

So has Bobby already left or is he still there?

Also, when making the ADR is that the time to request a "louder" server or should we wait until check-in?

Thanks!!

We were there for breakfast just a few weeks ago, and it was business as usual. Pony races, straws and napkins flying, servers yelling, general anctics all around. Not to flame the OP, but I don't understand what they're talking about.

We were at WCC last week. It was just as crazy as ever. There were plenty of folks wearing napking hats with straws sticking out. Pony races were done. Ketchup screaming was going on. Making guests sing happened. Nothing has changed at the WCC. I don't understand why the OP was told of these changes when none have happened. Are they going to happen eventually?

I don't know but I spoke to guests and servers and management all had the same story....I even personnelly expereinced a change in the intensity of the antics at the restuarant. I'm glad there is enough goings on that everybody going is still enjoying there visit....

Maybe there was an "incident" and Delswife just happened to be there right after it happened. It does seem that things were quiet for a little while. Didn't someone say that the restaurant was closed entirely while they were there. That was the same time period. Maybe now things are getting back on track. I know I sure hope so. My family has never been and we are going to try it in August for the first time.

I booked a dinner at WCC specifically because of what I'd seen on a TV travel show, and other great things I'd read right here on the DIS. Am I going to be disappointed??!....I was looking for a fun, interactive atmosphere for my 3 DSs, but if it's just going to be a regular ol' meal (albeit in a nice place), I may opt for another character meal instead.

Any thoughts?

I'm feeling kind of guilty here. I LOVE WCC, but I took my sons here before we realized they were autistic, and my then one year old freaked out when the waitress yelled for ketchup. She yelled right next to him (she didn't know obviously that it would be a problem) and he had a little convulsion and started flaling his arms so that he broke a glass of lemonade. We couldn't calm him down, and he and I did leave while my DH and 3yo finished their meals (I didn't want to ruin everyone else's dinner with my son freaking out) We didnt' complain at all though. I never blamed anyone-- it was our decision to go there-- we knew what the place was like, I just didn't realize my kids would react that way. Aside from my children's reaction (my then 3yo, now 6yo still says he will not go there)-- I thought it was a great place (just not for us). I just hope we weren't used as one of the examples of why they should tone it down. We don't bring our boys anymore (because they don't like it-- sensitive to loud noises), but I still recommend it to everyone I know. I'm so sad, and I feel terrible.

We went for our first time last March...had a great time. It is sad to hear that Management is not acknowledging complements and cutting back on the atmosphere.

Does this mean that the CM's at HM are going to have to be nice now too? ;)

CarolB -- What a great picture in your siggie!!!

Thanks so much. It isn't often my "kids" are all together in one place. Oldest DD and Fi live in Orlando, so had to take advantage when we could, even though not "everyone" in the pic is a family member - all the family is there, with some extras! :thumbsup2

We would be disappointed if Disney is indeed toning things down due to the complaints. We are really looking forward to the WCC. Should we request a loud server at the time we make the ADR or upon check-in? Also, does anyone know if Bobby is still there?

Thanks,

MrToad
